  1. Not a bad job at all, Nick. For the lettering like that, you might want to try dry-brushing it instead. Might be a little easier. That aside, a nice, clean, well-executed build. Charlie Larkin
  2. Well said, my brother. Nice job on the model, too. With more time, she'll only get better. Charlie Larkin
  3. I love the '48. The others are nice, too. Great job on the boards. Charlie Larkin
  4. I found the "Draw" program that OpenOffice.org has is pretty good fro graphics, although it saves in a weird format, it works nicely and it's free. It's so simple, I can use it. That should tell you everything you need to know right there. Charlie Larkin
  5. I didn't realize they sold Tauruses in Australia....I'd rather have one of your Falcon wagons. Someone was on very powerful psychotropes when they came up with that tack-on kit... Oy. Charlie Larkin
  6. Nice, Jeff. Got a price yet? The maroon top many Hudson convertibles had was a very distinctive feature. Black and tan were also seen somewhat regularly. Charlie Larkin
  7. The Holthauses, Norm Veber and Kevin, Jeff and Kris at D.R.A.G. are my go-tos, as well as Steve Kohler and Jerry K. at Start Models/Resin Realm. They're great people, treat their customers right and will NOT rip you. No worrying needed. If there were a problem, you'd know about it immediately. Charlie Larkin
  8. Are there any adaptors available that'll fit the little tiny airbrush hoses (1/8", I think) to the 1/4" air compressors? I've gone to everything from big chains to real hardware stores, and I get the same blank stare. Anyone? Charlie Larkin
  9. I think it's a combination. Sometimes, there is wear in the molds, and that should be addressed. Sometimes, I think there's impromper clamping, poor injection pressure, the plastic is too hot/too cold/too whatever. When I got my Hornet, while I was very pleased with the quality of the detail of the parts, I was a bit shocked at the amount of flash and the heavy, heavy mold lines on the body and frame. There were a few warped parts, too. On a brand-new tool, especially with all that re-working, I thought it was a bit disheartening to see. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast building mine, even with those couple of hiccups, but for that tool to have that kind of problem I thought was poor attention to process control at best, and still more problems with the mold at worst. I think we can do better as an industry. I think Tamiya, from the couple of their kits I have, also has the best molding quality out of all manufacturers. The Volvo 850 wagon I have, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee, for example, have 0 flash. The Japanese learned long ago the secrets of quality from two Americans- W. Edwards Demming, and Philip Crosby. Perhaps the rest of the industry should begin to learn from them, too. Some argue quality costs more. Perhaps a little initially, but it pays for itself in saved defects, repeat customers and your reputation. Charlie Larkin
  10. I have a very strange issue that occurs periodically with my copy of Firefox (version 13 on Win7.) Every once in a while, when I click on a new page- for example, the numbers on the bottom of a threat to take me to page X, it'll open up a new tab. I've also noticed that Flash is crashing a lot lately. Has anyone else been experiencing these problems? Are they connected? I ask because it does seem to do this a lot more when Flash decides to have a seizure, but sometimes the new page/new tab issue occurs independently. Help? Anyone? Charlie Larkin
  11. Dave, great shots of Boston. The ugly building behind the Duck in Boston City Hall, which was named in the last week by an architectural magazine as one of 25 buildings in America that needs to be torn down NOW. Can't say as though I disagree- it's hideous. The Swan Boats at the Public Gardens are a wonderful treat, and well worth a few bucks and a ride around the pond. Nice shot of the Leonard Zakim-Bunker Hill Bridge, too. If your travels ever bring you back here, let me know, I can show you all kinds of great photo shoots. The losh kebab/yalanchi plate your wife had looked good. They've got a customer if I ever find myself there. GREAT airiel shots, too. Charlie Larkin
  12. Your rights only have a limited window of enforcement in most states. Waiting is the enemy. If you feel you are the victim of deceptive advertising, take action forthwith. Charlie Larkin
  13. Queue the music...."Beautiful dreamer...." WOW. I really wish I had hit that $600 million jackpot a few months ago now. That would simply be amazing to have. That it still runs (flawlessly!) and drives after being parked all those years is testimony to the quality of manufacture. Charlie Larkin
  14. Great idea for all of us and a brilliant solution for you. Thanks for the idea. Charlie Larkin
  15. Have one of those downstairs, and I fully intend to build it. I love AMCs in general, and have always liked Marlins. I'll probably display next to my Charger when it's done in some clever diorama or another. Charlie Larkin
  16. Could it possibly be because they're as hard as rocks to dis-assemble? Charlie Larkin
  17. This is indeed good news. Let's hope it is a reversal of a trend. Charlie Larkin
  18. Kodak is still in business, just operating under bankruptcy protection. Just wanted to set the record straight. Charlie Larkin
  19. Wow, what a nice save. Very impressive fabrication work, too. Charlie Larkin
  20. This is starting to look really good. I like it. Charlie Larkin
  21. Nice job and great color combination. Charlie Larkin
  22. I think the molds may need a tune-up and reconditioning, but these build into a nice model fully-assembled. Missing Link Resin also offers a nicely-molded resin '65 4-door sedan if you prefer a fixed-roof. I wish someone would mold a 1961-64 model, as the underpinnings and engine are all the same, just the body and interior are different, and I really like that early design. Charlie Larkin
  23. Oops... Too bad the blue didn't show up in the picture (see...one of us reads your answers!) I would've liked to have seen that, too. Perhaps an outdoor shot might have less wash-out? Charlie Larkin
  24. I like the basic idea, Harry. It might make it easier for all of us. Charlie Larkin
