Great idea for building the building using some flashing; it never would've occurred to me. I may crib...heavily! Looks great, Sam. I'll enjoy watching this come together. Charlie Larkin

You're off to a strong start. The proposed color scheme is one of my favorites. I look forward to watching this. Charlie Larkin

Nice job, Bill. It is nice to see a stock '49, that's for sure. Charlie Larkin

I have one of those floating around. Looks like it might be time to consider building it. Great job! Charlie Larkin

After discussing this with a couple of people, I may actually do both. A very light coat of clear, very gentle polising with the 12 000-grit polishing cloth to make sure all the rough spots are knocked down, followed by another coat of clear. In-between, I'm going to foil the trim and get that out of the way. Charlie Larkin

I've seen several Cadillac hearses of that period in dark gray with a black top, which does make a striking combination. Autocolorlibrary.com lists it as London Gray, and it is quite dark. If you gloss-coated that color you used as a sample, I think you'd be in the ballpark. One interesting hearse that still is seen locally once in awhile is a gorgeous 1964 Buick with a Flexible body in a really pretty dark maroon. Another possibility to consider. Charlie Larkin

Nice start. That kit builds up beautifully. Charlie Larkin

Hadn't you posted a picture of that previously? Neat piece. How much do they run? My problem would be finding three other people to pedal with! Charlie Larkin

That body looks good. Is it the standard LTD with the exposed headlights or the Brougham with the hidden headlights? The idea of setting that up as a nice luxury car has a lot of appeal to me... The brochure had a particularly pretty car in light pastel gray with a matching vinyl top and vinyl trim panel between the taillights and a dark red interior. I wouldn't mind the real thing. Or triple dark blue.... Despite the silliness displayed, I'll enjoy watching this and see where it goes. Charlie Larkin

I wish I could ride a bicycle. Even with training wheels, I had all kinds of trouble staying upright, and as an adult, it hasn't gotten better. I've toyed very seriously with getting one of those delivery tricycles some bike shops sell, just for doing local trips and to do something besides drive all the time. A couple summers ago when gas hit the moon, I almost did it, but storage was (and still is) a problem. Perhaps this summer if more work comes in. Charlie Larkin

eBay pictures

Does anyone know if that works with Windows 7 or not? My next computer most likely will have that. Yes, Bob, I use Firefox. Internet Explorer on this computer is so screwed up, it won't even load. I wonder if Google Chrome has the same problems? I'll give it a try and report back. Charlie Larkin -
For the last several months, I've been having a problem. It appears that eBay has seen fit to copy-proof every single photograph it has. I cannot get any pictures to copy. Many times, the option isn't even avaiable, and when it is, it's screwed up and doesn't work. I've been told I might be able to save the Internet pages, but it creates folder upon folder of information and simply takes up too much room on my memory stick. My experiences have also show that if the page is removed, even if saved, it can't be reopened. Anyone? Charlie Larkin

A fool and his money are soon parted.... Or, are you kidding me?! What have you been smoking?! If it removes you that far from reality, I want some! Charlie Larkin -
Ummm...was this what they meant by come and see the bunnies??? Charlie Larkin

Looks like a nice start you've got. Charlie Larkin

Nice job with that H/O, Marcos. You're doing it justice without question. The paint on the GTO is dry, and it will need a very light compounding to smooth it out and bring up the shine a little. I'll probably just hit it with some toothpaste, as that actually seems to work pretty well for that type of thing. Charlie Larkin

This cartoon here was rather amusing. Last row, second from right. My link Wheelman: I don't think it's that a lot of people here like or dislike Japanese cars. I happen not to, but with Toyota's recent problems and the type of aura that the Prius tends to exude, as well as the vast bulk of people that seem to buy them (at least around here and perhaps other places,) it's a natural for ribbing and a bit of humor. I think you're being far too sensitive. Your builds are as welcome here as anyone's. Charlie Larkin -
I think I have one of those from the first time around in the cellar. I just wish Monogram did these in 1/25 so I could use them with everything else I have. They're nice kits, though, and I just try to display 1/24 and and 1/25 stuff not mixed together. Not as easy as it seems. Charlie Larkin

That instrument panel is beyond belief! Absolutely stunning work on that and the chassis, as well. Charlie Larkin -

Gee, Christian, on this side of the Atlantic, most yuppie scum drink white wine. It, however, must be made from local, organically-grown grapes and aged in flasks made of sustainably-harvested timber (one practice I don't have a problem with at all, I happen to like trees, both in the forest and for projects, and would like to ensure a supply.) I do agree, though, that most of the whole green movement, in addition to just becoming another sales tool and a way to get us to pay more, has gone bonkers. Just look at many of its leading proponents. I'm very tempted to build a model of the truck from Duel and see if I can make a figurine of Dennis Weaver driving a Prius instead of a Valiant. Considering the late Mr. Weaver's leanings, it does seem rather fitting... Charlie Larkin -

Resource Material

Find good, diverse car shows in your area and go to them. Many times, they go to support worthy local causes and you can see things first-hand. I use the Internet as well, especially if a car is unusual or rare, and even then, it's a ######-shot. For example, I'm attempting to restore a 1961 Pontiac Tempest glue-bomb, and almost no pictures of that car exist, and the real ones are a bit rare, too. Art is correct in stating you should try to find make-club specific meets and show-and-shines in your area (e.g., Buick Club of America's chapter in your region,) and go to those. Many times, the chapters will help you connect with someone that owns a car you're interested in and help you set up to take pictures. The information you seek is always out there, it's how hard and deep your dig. Charlie Larkin -
Nice work Dave, as it always is. Someday, I can only hope my railroad looks half as good as your dios. Charlie Larkin
