Why i dont post pictures
charlie8575 replied to gray07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Personally, I've always had trouble with foil. I find a 10/0 paintbrush, especially on scripts, is just as effective. George, everyone builds to their happiness, and that includes you. If you don't want to post, that's one thing, but don't let an undeserved sense of not being "good enough" stop you. Everyone has their way, and I think it's safe to say we're all accepting of that. Any photos from MassCar 2010 this past Sunday??
charlie8575 replied to Foxer's topic in Contests and Shows
As promised, here's the link to my album. As I type this, the album is still being formed, and with about 120 pictures to upload, it'll take about an hour or so for me to get it all up. As a reminder, this is done in conjunction with Cape Cod Scale Modelers, so there are quite a few military models in here, some of which are simply breathtaking. MassCar 2010-now with working Hyperlinks! Charlie Larkin -
You shouldn't need to keep your 'Cuda in Lake Purple for more than a day or so; it'll go through the worst of anything pretty quickly. I'll enjoy watching this progress. Charlie Larkin

We're glad you and Kevin enjoyed yourself. We were happy to host you and hope you'll consider gracing us with your fine products next year. Thank you again for coming, we appreciated it. Charlie Larkin -

The film is being processed as we speak. I'll have them up by the weekend, I hope. Harry or Greg- if you see any pictures you like and would like to use it in the magazine, let me know, and I can either send you prints, electronic files or the 35-mm negatives (provided I can have them returned to me,) and I'll be happy to accommodate you. The only ones they (and most other places seem to have) are the "ivory" whitewalls, which are way too yellow to even simulate used tires well, at least to my eye. Anyone else have any ideas? (Hmmm...I wonder how hard it would be to make dry transfers???) Charlie Larkin

My dad plays with American Flyer; I do HO and Lionel. Sn3 is cool! Nice build, by the way. Charlie Larkin

Does anyone know if Shabo still makes their narrow-band whitewall dry transfers? Them seem to have become quite hard to find. One of my hobby shops here has had a devil of a time getting them for the last couple of years, and they could sell twenty sets a month. Painting wide-whites isn't too bad, but for me, I can't paint a narrow whitewall, even with a template. Charlie Larkin

Neat build. I have one of the Little Red Wagon issues sitting in the basement. That'll be built stock, and may end up being used for a diorama idea I have that'll be coming to the fore quite soon (I hope.) Charlie Larkin

Nice job, Bruce. That grille especially came out well. Your work is an inspiration to us all. Charlie Larkin

I use magazines, car shows, the Internet, and eBay. I really got upset a while ago, though. It appear feeBait has now copy-protected all their pictures! I can't save any of them as they all come up as disabled. Annoying! Hemmings does this too, as well as some dealers. Does anyone know how to copy and paste pictures when you run into that and can explain it in a non-technical way?? What I do is make reference sheets in Word Perfect (because I like the way it handles pictures better) and make little notes to go along with them. Charlie Larkin

I remember the Concorde and Intrepid. I didn't know they made an LHS, too. I'll keep an eye open for those. I always liked the first-generation LH cars, especially the LHS. At MassCar's show, I grabbed a Life-Like repop of the Pyro 1908 Lanchester 20 and a set of wheels and tires for my Revell Monte Carlo. Charlie Larkin

ebay Jo-Han POLICE PURSUIT CAR
charlie8575 replied to tuffone20's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
From what I understand, they're a bit scarce now, but they are out there. $300 is idiotic. Hope he enjoys looking at it on the shelf. From what I understand, should Okey ever actually get Jo-Han back up and running at full speed, this may not be among them as the molds were either stolen, damaged or sold by SeVille, which is a real shame. I have one of these kits and it's a nice kit. I'll probably end up doing a non-police Fury I. Charlie Larkin -
If I continue to get work at the pace I've been getting it, I'll be going down. I may be leaving EARLYSaturday morning, as a hotel room will probably be out of the question, but if I can make it this year, I'll be there. I went in 1998 and had a blast. I'd love to go again, and I hope this year will be it. Charlie Larkin

12th Annual NNL North, Sunday June 6
charlie8575 replied to Jim Kampmann's topic in Contests and Shows
What a show! How far are you from Woodbury? I have a friend that lives there and could probably borrow the couch if I find myself with enough scratch to get out there. Charlie Larkin -
What total, complete junk! I love it! Charlie Larkin

Local News Coverage of the Hawaii NNL
charlie8575 replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Perhaps MassCar should contact the Boston and Providence TV stations next year, seeing Taunton is right in the middle of both broadcast markets. Great going, Gregg. Nice beaches with hot girls and scenery galore...and now a new NNL. Plenty of reason to get there someday. Charlie Larkin -
What kind of music.....
charlie8575 replied to Hot_Rod_Bob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Parev. Ench Besess? (Hello. How are you?) And yes, I do like country music, too. Although not Armenian folk music, "Yerevan Stars," if you can find it, is a great album. Armenia has also produced some excellent jazz and contemporary musicians. Charlie Larkin (The board Armenian-American.) -

That came out beautifully. Seriously, if General Motors wants to get back in the game, they need to start building something with style and presence again, and this is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Great work, and I agree, a well-set photo session with a pro could fool a lot of people. Charlie Larkin

Looks great! That green says 1970s so nicely. Charlie Larkin
