Second the epoxy. Another choice might be Walther's Goo, which will bond almost anything. Charlie Larkin

I'm looking for a 1970 Monte now to make mine a little more "palletable." I'm guessing that's what you used for your underpinnings? Nice execution. Charlie Larkin

Nice build-up, Curtis. You overcame the problems well, too. Charlie Larkin

That doesn't sound too promising, in almost any definition. Whatever it is, I hope it's easily rectified. Charlie Larkin

What do you drive?
charlie8575 replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The G6 Coupe is one of the few modern cars I consider genuinely attractive, and that '51 is beautiful, as is the trolley next to it. Where was that picture taken? (Traction fan here.) Charlie Larkin -
Why I've been so testy/ edgy
charlie8575 replied to Nick Winter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ed's got a good point here, buddy. We don't want you getting all out of sorts, and perhaps someone whose primary job is to sit there and listen would be a good release for you. Clergy, your guidance counselor, school psychologist or a private-practice counselor like Ed suggested are all viable options. If you have a good friend that you can just talk to, that helps in enormous quantities and is a valuable resource for you, too. My friends have helped me through a lot of very bad spots, including my life at present, which is a quagmire, and I've been there to do the same for them, too. One of life's most valuable gifts is the gift of good, reliable, trustworthy friends. God gave them to you for a reason- don't be afraid to use them. If you need to talk about anything, you can always talk to me, too. Charlie Larkin -
Question About Vintage
charlie8575 replied to charlie8575's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I've been given a lot of really good ideas, and they're all under consideration. I also have a couple of ideas that popped into my head that I'm thinking about pursuing, too. The used trailer seems pretty reasonable, and may very well be what I end up doing to keep things easy and not-too expensive. As I think of it, though, the idea of using my already-owned L-700 and loading up some MoPars is starting to sound pretty good, though. Charlie Larkin -
That is a good idea. The only issue I'd see is transposing the Coke-bottle fender tops, but it is, after all, a model, and a way to play with ideas. Charlie Larkin

Which Mopar to build first?
charlie8575 replied to ChrisPflug's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Be adventurous and try converting one into a Coronet or Satellite wagon. Here's the dimensions you need to work. With a 1/25 scale ruler, you can figure out the rest of it without too much trouble (height, door sizes, etc.) http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=38986&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 Charlie Larkin P.S.: If you decide to try it, on behalf of us wagon folk all over, consider talking to a resin caster to get it cast. -
That looks great, Jeff! G.M. could definitely have pulled off something like that without too much trouble and it would've sold quite well, I think. For color, I could see that in something like Dusk Blue or Burgundy with either a blue or saddle interior. Charlie Larkin

I haven't seen one of those in years?! Out of curiosity, does GM still have parts, etc. for it? Charlie Larkin -
Neat dio. Very nicely done. Charlie Larkin

just some questions bout resin stuff
charlie8575 replied to 69_charger's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
SSB set off my AVG, too. It's called an "exploit link" but I have no idea what that is. That guy has some neat stuff. Too bad his site is all screwed up. Charlie Larkin -
A hot six and just enough subtlety to make it interesting. Very nice job. I've been toying with using one of my '51s with a Buick straight 8 in it for something a little..."different." Charlie Larkin

I think it looks nice. I've had trouble getting digital cameras to focus, too. Must be like the younger "digital generation" and not be able to pay attention for beans. May I suggest a fixed-focus 35-mm camrea? Walgreens has an inexpensive one that still takes decent pictures and has a promotion that'll give you free film for life. The nice thing about a fixed-focus camera is you'll know almost immediately if the picture is in focus or not if you're about 3-4 feet back. As for developing, I use Target. for $3.49, they'll develop your film and put it on a CD for you, or about $7 with a CD and prints. The CD will upload into Photobucket with no problems. What a piece of junk! And I mean that only in the most flattering way. How'd you do that accident damage? It looks great! Charlie Larkin

Can you take models on a bus?
charlie8575 replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
TSA hasn't screwed up busses or trains yet, too much. That said, if you have your luggage in the under-floor storage, they shouldn't complain too much one way or the other anyway, as you can't really access it. Charlie Larkin -
Uh...which color? Although, honestly, most big Fords from the late 1960s look good in almost anything. Charlie Larkin

Looking good, Terry. Charlie Larkin -
Sorry to hear about Bob Tasca, Sr. I liked what I saw of the man, and his book You Will Be Satisfied was one of, if not the best business books I ever read. Tasca's dealership is now in Seekonk, Ma., about two miles down from 777 Taunton Ave in East Providence. The building is still there, all in Tasca livery, though. It's always nice to see a piece of New England Motoring History represented, especially when nicely done. Here's a little more about him from The Providence Journal. http://www.projo.com/projocars/content/TASCA-OBIT_01-09-10_TOH213H_v21.3988803.html http://www.projo.com/news/content/TASCA_PLANS_01-14-10_JOH3R4G_v12.3b3b91e.html Charlie Larkin

I always liked the 1956-57 Lincolns. Some of the best looking cars ever to come out of Ford Motor Co. Charlie Larkin

Nice job. Old police cars are really neat and I like to see it when they get built. Charlie Larkin
