  1. Hi, Colin. Welcome aboard. I live in "southern Maine" (Massachusetts to the rest of you, Maine is "northern Massachusetts") where in Maine are you? If you're not too far from the New Hampshire line, may I recommend Classic Plastic? They're a great bunch of guys and a lot of fun to hang around with. They meet on the first Saturdays in Lowell. I belong to MassCar, which is the other side of Boston, in Dedham. We meet the second Saturdays and the third Monday. I think there are also a couple of small clubs in New Hampshire. Worst case, call Hobby Emporium in Tyngsborough, Ma. They're pretty well plummed in to the northern New England scene. Charlie Larkin
  2. I'll take one of the Healys, anyway. I like English sports cars. Charlie Larkin
  3. It's still a 1991-92? That's the big difference I pick up on. That looks like the body for that nice non-9C1 you put in the Under Glass area a couple months ago. Charlie Larkin
  4. Coulda fooled me...and it did! That would also explain why it looks like a resin body on top of that box. Charlie Larkin
  5. Neat projects, Terry. Question you may or may not know the answer to: is R&R's Belvedere/Satellite Sedan based off that Adam-12 kit? I have a feeling that MPC original is going to be a bit rich for my budget. Charlie Larkin
  6. Nice build. The color looks more "orange" to me, though, rather than a buckskin color, which to me should be a tan/light brown. Great job regardless, and definitely something to be proud of. Charlie Larkin
  7. Looks great! Charlie Larkin
  8. Nice job. Looks good and I like the colors. Charlie Larkin
  9. You have far-better hands than me! How did you keep the separation so even? Charlie Larkin
  10. Took a little break from packing; I bought some Micro-Scale Micro Satin and Micro Flat, and treated the interior appropriately. I also had to re-glue the exhaust. I also had to reglue part of the rear suspension as a locater pin broke off. I've never had superglue not hold before. I've been told it looses its oomph with age; I'm hoping that's all it is. I'm also having another strange problem- the paint is rubbing off the chassis?! I've never seen that happen before with Testors paint. My next big challenge will be the rear shocks. I can't quite figure out where they go or how to mount them without making a terrible mess. Suggestions? Still trying to figure out the exterior color as well. I still might do a two-tone paint just for something different. Very few GTOs were two-toned from the factory, and as I have a whole bunch of '50s cars waiting, a simple roof-body two-tone would be a good way to get a little practice in. Charlie Larkin
  11. You're giving me ideas. I might try to do one in the colors I'd order it. Charlie Larkin
  12. Looks good done, next step is learning how to do the paint; a great way to spend father-son time! Charlie Larkin
  13. Rhode Island is actually doing something right?! In Massachusetts, we're bashing any semblance of creativity and thought out of our students so they can pass that (BLEEP!) MCAS test! Nice drawings, Casey, and your photography work is very good, too. Harry and Jairus are very good people to know if graphics and design are your thing, and while I can't speak for them, I'm sure they'd be willing to help you if you want to pursue it. Charlie Larkin
  14. The more I see of the Tamyia sprays, the more I like them. I have a can of BRG for a 1/32 Pyro Bentley. I'm going to give this stuff a serious look. Charli Larkin
  15. Two questions, Agent G. 1. What's the black and green '49 Ford? I almost said New York, but they were black/green/white. 2. The police package Impalas....do those run the V8 in them or one of the sixes? Great builds, by the way. Charlie Larkin
  16. This is brilliant. I love it! Charlie Larkin
  17. That looks great! I really like it in silver. Charlie Larkin
  18. On behalf of us factory-stock/ true luxury car lovers....how much arm-twisting would it take for you to send that out for casting?! Charlie Larkin
  19. I've toyed with doing this for a factory-stock model. I'll watch your progress for ideas. Charlie Larkin
  20. Uhhh...what's a Prius engine doing in a Barracuda? A little good humor is always welcome. Charlie Larkin
  21. Another epic tour-de-force is coming. Go, Peter, go! Charlie Larkin
  22. Mine will be medium blue/white-and-blue interior and a white vinyl top. I think no matter how you do a Monte as factory stock, it'll look good. For a custom....I'd suggest something like one of the old Cadillac and Olds "firemist" colors with white as an accent. The idea of using the molded green and accenting it with paint has merit, too. Charlie Larkin
  23. Interesting. I'll be watching. Charlie Larkin
  24. My parents and grandmother gave me a little money for Christmas. So Sunday, I decided to buy a few little odds and ends. 1. Lindberg 1931 Bugatti Royale Victoria. All I can say is for very old tooling, just poking through it, it looks really nice. 2. A 1/25-1/48-1/87.5 (HO) scale ruler (I have a few projects in mind this will help with.) 3. A bottle of Micro Scale Krystal Satin (Acryl and Model Master S/G was a little too rich for my budget) 4. I finally got the October Model Cars. Charlie Larkin
  25. I like the cardboard box! It's ingenious, I would never have thought of it. Despite it saying "digital photography school," that's something that'll work nicely with film, too. (NB: die-hard 35mm/120 user here.) For different effects, you could get Bristol board in different colors, too, like maroon or blue. If you look at Cadillac brochures from the late 1960s (the 1968 one immediately comes to mind,) many times they'd take a picture of the car on a complementary or contrasting background drape, for example a turquoise car on a navy blue background. It definitely gives you something to play with and have a little fun, that's for sure.
