  1. This was sent along by the president of MassCar. All I can say is WOW!The slide-show take a few minutes, but you'll enjoy every moment of it. I, for one, would love to see something in print, especially about how he did the buildings. http://www.flickr.com/photos/24796741@N05/sets/72157604247242338/with/2346008881/ Charlie Larkin
  2. You picked a nice car to pattern your model after, Nick. The results you achieve with your builds speaks well of your skills, too. I'll enjoy watching this come together. Charlie Larkin
  3. Nice work, especially on the coupe. Is there a 1972 4-4-2 grille available, by chance? As I think about it, the more the idea of making a Cutlass Supreme instead of a 4-4-2 with this kit appeals to me, if the grille is already there. Charlie Larkin
  4. I like Easy-Off for stripping resin. Use the fume-free one so you don't choke yourself on the gasses. Don't ask me how I know.... Charlie Larkin
  5. 1. Generally, you'll need to thin spray-can paint a little to get it to airbrush right, so I agree with that. 2. Sounds like my old nemesis at work here: distance. Try to maintain about 8-10 inches from the object being painted and always keep your strokes paraell to the object, try not to arc your arm. 3. My compressor works at one pressure, and it seems to do well for most paints. I've never really gotten a handle on that, so I'd suggest experimenting as well and seeing what works for you and stick with it. Have fun with your airbrush, they're a wonderful tool once you get the hang of them. Charlie Larkin
  6. I had that same reaction, too. Very nice job. Charlie Larkin
  7. I love how they worked "malasada" in there. Must be the Portugese influence. A malasada, for those of you wondering, is a delicious concoction consisting of massa (Portugese sweet bread) or bolous (akin to an English muffin) encasing pieces of either liguicia (the Portugese equivalent to kielbasa, but better,) or proshuto (like the Italian ham of the same sound) and sometimes cheese, baked, and served warm. Makes a great light lunch with a can of Coke and some carrot sticks. Charlie Larkin (the until-recently token Armenian/Down-East mix resident of New Bedford's very Portugese West End.)
  8. Yeah, what he said! Charlie Larkin
  9. Absolutely brilliant! I could see something like that roving anyplace in northern New England. Charlie Larkin
  10. I need to dig up one of those. I've found I've developed a real spot for weird little European cars. Citroens are definitely weird, that's for sure. And for the record....white's a cool color on those. I see too many Euro cars in black, and this is a nice change. Charlie Larkin
  11. Nice conversion! Does this fellow have an Internet page or some other type of contact information? Charlie Larkin
  12. I think you missed a 0 in the mileage, that should be 90,000. As a quick rule of thumb: 1 kilometre= 5/8 (0.625) U.S. Mile; it's within a few feet of absolutely correct. I'm not sure what the Imperial mile ratio is. Any Brits or Canucks know? Nice Volvo. In New England, 850 wagons and V70s are a fairly popular car. The 240s used to be everywhere, and you still see one once in awhile. I've toyed with getting one off and on if I can find one equipped the way I like at a price I can justify. Charlie Larkin
  13. Looks like you're off to a good start so far. Charlie Larkin
  14. They make Alclad in spray cans? Hmmm.... Charlie Larkin
  15. Nice project, Tony. Looks fantastic. Charlie Larkin
  16. Great story, great motivation behind the project and a very nice end result. Charlie Larkin
  17. You have a very interesting assortment of toys, Ken. I'll openly state I don't care much for Toyotas, or most Japanese cars except the oddball 60s/early 70s ones that were kinda interesting, but I've always had a fondness for Cressidas, they seem like such a nice, civilized car, especially they last-generation. Too bad they're so rare. As I like wagons anyway, your Cressida wagon caught my eye. That's a beauty. From the shape of your fleet, I'm guessing your Channel 9 is not WMUR in Manchester, N.H., or do you have the cleanest older Toyotas in the Granite State? Charlie Larkin
  18. My PayPal is also set up to my bank account, too, Jon, as I don't have a credit card any longer. You can also use your debit card number if you want (MasterCard/Visa logo ATM card.) Charlie Larkin
  19. I see your grandpa is also a Mason, Nick. If he passes through Massachusetts on his way to Florida or back up to the Great White North, if he'd like to visit a lodge here, let me know, and we'll be happy to accommodate him. Has he talked to you about De Molay? If not, go check it out, all these years later, still hands-down the best thing I ever did for myself. www.demolay.org Charlie Larkin
  20. With careful prep and some strip to replicate the braces for the front fenders, there's no reason why it shouldn't look pretty good when it's done. Thanks for posting those, Dave. Charlie Larkin
  21. Well said...and a very nice build, too. Charlie Larkin
  22. Neat car...what is it? You'll like your Caprice, comfortable, reliable and not all that hard to drive, certainly no worse than your hearse (very cool, by the way.) Charlie Larkin
  23. My thoughts exactly. Charlie Larkin
  24. That alone is enough to put anyone in a bad mood! I hope it wasn't uphill. Charlie Larkin
  25. Oh no! We're gonna get sued! Good. Morons. Charlie Larkin
