I got a call at the store yesterday looking for some information. The caller wanted a kit of a '59 Cadillac hearse, and was emphatic that the Polar Lights kit was horrible. Is the present P/L kit the old one that had all the stuff molded in, or is it the AMT tool that had all the parts separate so a stock non-landau hearse/ambulance was still within the realm of possibility? Anyone know for sure? Charlie Larkin

I couldn't agree more with both of these. Scott- understand your feelings about guns. I'm a horrible shot and it's much safer for me and everyone else if I don't have a gun. With that said- split the difference- Louisville Slugger and pepper spray. Very effective, even if it's only to buy you enough time to get out. Charlie Larkin

Bob and I were talking about those boats at the store last week or so. From what he was saying, they're actually pretty nice kits. That Century is gorgeous- even if simplified, it'll look great behind any one of a number of cars of that vintage. Charlie Larkin -

Pacer wagon! Sign me up for one! $25.95 for a SNAP Camaro, and the glue kit is only $4 more?? That pricing is wacky, and at that level, completely uncompetitive with Revell's snaps, which are $6-10 less. Sign me up for a glue kit; need to grab a brochure so I can do the detailing right. What makes me happy is the good news I've seen. Jim and Ray- may good health be here to stay for a long time for both of you. Ed- your pictures are inspiring, especially those sunrises, and that orange one was spectacular! Joe- you got out of the hobby shop and I got into one. Good luck with your new position. So you say it's a real good trip, eh? I was in Chicago in 2000 visiting a friend from home and checking out grad schools. It really is a neat city. If they can get the morons presently trying to turn it into a 300 square-mile Boot Hill under control, I would very happily go back to visit. I'd still love to go to a Cubs game. Charlie Larkin

Blast. I really hope someone steps up and buys the masters. If someone has the money and not the time, I have the time, but not the money, and can make a full-time job of it. Charlie Larkin -

I second this. Very good stuff. Charlie Larkin -
We just got some in at the store and I'm wondering about it. 1. Has anyone tried it? 2. What paints have you tried over it? I have one fixer-upper that's a bit fragile, and I want to use less-aggressive paints on it, at least for the primer. I've read that Stynelrez can be used under anything, and I'd like to see what others have experienced. Thanks. Charlie Larkin

I help manage The Spare Time Shop in Marlborough, Ma. We're one of the most extensively-stocked shops in New England, and have enough of a following that we have customers from Toronto and the far northern part of Nova Scotia. If it's not on the shelf and obtainable, we'll get it for you. Charlie Larkin

Blast, and I was trying to get my order together! Well, it's not a very big one, maybe they'll squeeze it in. And I'm certainly in no hurry. Charlie Larkin -

I don't think the "E" plates showed up until the 1950s. I have a couple of people I can ask. I got mine last week- looks very nice. Now to pick a color. It appears Ford had only a gray interior in the Super DeLuxe and a tan interior in the DeLuxe. Aside from chrome vs. rubber stone-shields, there doesn't seem to be a lot of exterior difference between the two, so I'll just pick a color scheme I like and go with it. I'm leaning towards a shade of blue. If anyone here is more knowledgable about the interior color schemes and would care to share for all our education, I'd appreciate it (as would other rep-stock builders.) I love that they have Vermont plates on the sheet. Nice to see something from New England. Charlie Larkin

Or a 150 wagon, for that matter. Is there a racing tie-in to the 210 Handyman, or just because it is what it is? Charlie Larkin -
Looks promising. Getting the T-bar and "glass" panels to fill in well and look good for a solid roof will be a bit challenging, but it's within the realm of possibility. I wonder if any of the whitewalls will fit the rims? Note to self: we need a good set of decent radial whitewalls for 1970s-early '90s cars. Charlie Larkin

The Bronco is cool; like others, I'm a bit surprised at who ended up doing it. Wouldn't mind another '57 150. I'd like to build a Utility (business) Sedan. Yeah, I'm in the no more Tri-5 chorus, but at the same time, I think it's time for some cars that haven't been done to be done, including a properly-executed '56 Sport Coupe (I'd love it if they had separate trim like the old Revell '56 2-door sedan so you could do either a Bel-Air or 210.) Others I'd like to see are a new '57 Nomad and at least one year of Handyman wagon. Charlie Larkin -

That big, bold car in a big, bold color. Cool. Charlie Larkin -
Lincoln did have a very nice dark green in '60, and I think it would look great. There was a solid dark tan interior available that would look nice. Testors tan with a couple of drops of white would about get it. There was also a dark green interior, featuring white bolsters, and that would be very nice. I'd suggest a Testors Beret Green with a little lighter green mixed in and a drop or two of white would get the flavor. The dash was a bright dark metallic green- I'd suggest 1:1:2 Beret Green, Gloss white and Gloss green (to brighten the darker green,) with a toothpick worth of aluminum for the metallic.
