1969 Dodge Coronet R/T, 10/17, So Close I Can Taste It!!
charlie8575 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It may have to do with the shape required vs. what the cutting tools are capable of doing. It might also be a matter of what will work in the mold for contour. It could also be simple human error. Charlie Larkin -
The end results speak for themselves. Great work, Bill. Charlie Larkin

AMT 1958 Plymouth engine

I'll buy at least one of these if you get them out. I assume you're doing a 3-D printing of this, Doug? Charlie Larkin -
Remember, those "harsh punishments" are in direct opposition to Deming's philosophy. Paraphrasing, one principle is "remove all threats from the workplace and instill joy in work." The Chinese ethos hardly does that. I've been writing a class that I plan to offer to some colleges on Deming and his philosophy in an attempt to humanize business education at the college level, and while I personally don't agree with all of his ideas, they're all worth discussing and studying. Through the Crisis, which is one of his most important books, is available through Google Books and in print from MIT Press. It's a fascinating book, and very easy to read for anyone. Charlie Larkin

The one we have is a snap. But... Our distributor has the glue kits, and I think they're shipping or will be before the end of the month. Patience... Charlie Larkin

Hopefully I catch you before you paint, but if you could post a couple of pictures (top/bottom) as a demo, it might be a good idea. Charlie Larkin

I can't even find Mars bars anymore! Too bad, I always liked them. But deep-fried...no. I did, however, indulge a little at the PawSox tonight and had some fried dough. Been a million years since I had some. Problem was it was so windy, all the powdered sugar and cinnamon blew onto my shirt and pants. Last night, I went to the festival the Greek church does every Labor Day weekend; great food there. I'm going to go tomorrow and grab a couple of items from the bake table to bring to a friends' parent's house for their cookout. Charlie Larkin

You might want to grab some Plastruct or Evergreen strip and glue that into the grooves. I'll take another look at mine and see if I can come up any other ideas. Charlie Larkin

We ordered in the Camaros (finally!) at my store. I believe the one we have on the shelf is the glue kit. I'll double-check Tuesday when I'm back in. Charlie Larkin

When addressing this, it might be wise to spring a few bucks and mail the bodies both back to Revell-O-Gram. This way, they can actually see what's up. I would suggest putting the package to the attention of both the Quality Assurance and Customer Service departments so they can both review the product. Charlie Larkin

Almost.... Specific to what Bill and you have been discussing, this is what is referred to as "the Castle doctrine." In other words, you have a right to launch into eternity (be it up or down- only a greater court than man's can make that call,) somebody who brakes into your home or place of business and threatens to cause you harm or harm to your family. Massachusetts does not recognize this doctrine of common law, and in fact, forbids it outright. A recent attempt to overturn this very bad chapter of Massachusetts General Law (MGL Ch. 278, sect. 8a,) was sent down in flames by the Great and General Court of the Commonwealth. This attorney has a pretty good summary of how it works here. http://www.massachusettscriminaldefenseattorneyblog.com/2011/10/the-castle-law-in-massachusett.html Charlie Larkin

Model Car World paint
charlie8575 replied to Racersonly's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We use our FAX machine at work everyday. Sometimes it's easier and faster than e-Mail. If you want to think about it, they're pretty cheap on Craigslist for a decent one. The e-Mall goes to Dave Dodge, who sold his paint line to the new owners. He still does the resin. The e-Mail for the paint is mcwfinishes@sssnet.com Simply print out the form, fill it in, enclose a cheque or money order, and mail it. Takes about 10 days to turnaround for me. Charlie Larkin -
Whatever happened to the Dodge Diplomats?

You can get a E58 318 (or pretty close) with a Thermoquad or any other decent 4-bbl and an Edelbrock Performer Plus intake. As Bill noted, they had double-roller timing chains, heavy-duty oil pumps and roller lifters from the mid-late '80s forward. Other than that, they were the same 140-HP 2-bbl. 318, just with a few extra pieces for a little more power and durability. A roller-profile cam is available for a 318, I think, although I'm not sure from who. I would recommend one for lower-end power for better launch and mileage. Charlie Larkin -

You have all the cars you need to do that, too. AMT 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery (utility wagon and coroner.) Revell 1948 Ford Coupe, reasonable for LAPD use. Somebody, I think Motor City or Missing Link, is also offering a Fordor, which might be more accurate, as well as Hendrix' Tudor (fastback.) Charlie Larkin

Very inventive. Decent job mocking up the Park Lane, too. Talk about iconic TV cars that've never been kitted. Charlie Larkin

And that is what it's all about. Welcome. Charlie Larkin

Slightly screwed up day, GREAT ending! Is it just me, or do tires, despite all the mileage extolling, seem to not last as long as they should anymore? Charlie Larkin

To paraphrase what is said in the Masons, you are among friends and brothers, with a common goal of mutual assistance and assurance. To that end, if you would like some help with moderation while you attend to this, I can't promise I can be here every day like I had been in the past, but I'll do my best to give you a hand. Send me an e-Mail and we'll see if we can assist each other. Charlie Larkin

I was thinking of getting one of these; this cements it. What are you using to remove his mold release if Bleche-Wite doesn't do it? Charlie Larkin

Everything Bill said. Hang in there, Harry. We're all pulling for you. Charlie Larkin

Sounds like the reason I really want to get out of EMass, and head to CMass or WMass. New Hampshire and Maine are on the radar, too. A big move like that can be daunting, but you can do it. Start building your network as best you can and hopefully you'll hit the ground wheels down, if not already rolling. Charlie Larkin
