  1. I'm not getting anything like that, George.
  2. Again, thank you everyone. I appreciate the input and support.
  3. Thanks, everyone. I am in the process of getting another one ready to build it because I am really puzzled by those rear tires riding so far up front. It's bugging me now.
  4. I like the color. Nice build.
  5. Even though 60 dollars was quite a bit of money back then, it was still a great deal. Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. A new project is now starting to form in the back of my mind.
  6. I always took building models seriously, although when I was a kid I built to just get the thing done and play with it. When I returned to the hobby (I was already in my 30s) I realized it was all about the doing, the adventure of the process, etc . . . and then I really started having quite a bit of fun. Model kits are like puzzles to me. Since I don't know the first thing about mechanics and what an engine does, etc, it's all about making the thing look as good as it is humanly possible to disguise the fact that I don't know the first thing about cars. LOL.
  7. Again, thanks to everyone for the comments and the inspiration. Stephen, the wheels on that 40 Ford are beautiful. Looking forward to seeing your rendition of it.
  8. Another beauty, and another great model. Love it.
  9. Your work definitely shows how much fun you are having building your models. Great work, please keep it coming.
  10. I call these types of builds camp mules, which is what Pat Covert would call it. I love this build. It's my favorite of your builds so far, full of charm and attitude. Congrats.
  11. Thanks, Jon and Mike. Harry, I have another copy of the kit. I have to look into this. I hope others do too.
  12. Thanks, everyone. Jim, it's that kind of a kit, it goes together very well, for the most part. The interior takes a little bit of extra care to slip it in, but it fits like a glove once you insert it pass the body edges.
  13. I noticed it from the first mock up, but I knew it wasn't my doing, it's the way the body and interior tub sit on the chassis.
  14. Glad you noticed that too, Harry. Yes, there's something weird with this part of the kit. The tires fit nicely in the wells, but THEY ARE too much forward. Then again, I am using the wheels from the STANDARD COUPE kit, not that ones that came with the 40 Coupe.
  15. Oooh, I like that one.
  16. LOL, you betcha. The time has come for the shine. Again.
  17. Rich, no they are not decals. I got a wall of plates through Google Image and shrunk them down to size. With interiors like this all you want is for the eye to catch the detail and move on. If you wanted to go the extra mile, you could in fact cut out all the different decals you might have in your collection and add them one at a time. I think that would look great too, and a bit more realistic.
  18. I am happy you noticed that, Harry. It's exactly what I wanted to do, restrain myself. I even pages through my book of decals looking for something cool in terms of graphics and decided against it. It looks all right in turquoise. That's my story and I am sticking to it. LOL
  19. Hum, you might be right, we are talking about the early 70s here.
  20. Thank you, Ron, now I can move on to a shiny one.
  21. Rich, I think he might be in trouble if that's the case because I can eat two of those sandwiches all by myself. LOL.
  22. Except for a little tweaking and toning down of all the chrome, this one is done. I really love this kit, but my recommendation is to test fit everything while in the raw styrene, this way you get no surprises in the end. Enjoy:
  23. All right my friends. After a big push today, I got this one done. I am posting it over in UNDER GLASS. I realized that this build thematically had nothing to do with AZTECS, so I changed the name to T-RAT (T for Turquoise.) I want to thank all of you for the input, support, ideas, etc . . . and although I still have to tone down the chrome and tweak it here and there, this one is done. Cheers and THANK YOU!
