I was out geting some grub last night and went by one of my friends house(hes an older gentalmen that comes in my work all the time, hes like a grandpa to me really) and saw a flashlight going around in his yard, so i pull in his driveway to make sure everything was okay. I start to get out of my car then see the biggest rotwieller iv'e ever seen! so naturally i get back in my car and start to roll up the windows.lol A few seconds later "poncho"(the older gentalmen) comes up and we talk, then the big dog comes up again. Now im in my moms ford taurus, the dog came up to the bottom of the window! like where you would hang your arm out of when your crusing. thats over three foot tall!! i think that was the biggest dog iv'e ever seen One cool thing about this guys is he was actually the owner of the rotwieller on Walker Texas Ranger. He showed me a picture one day of him, the dog and chuck norris on set one day. It was pretty cool Jeff.

Corvette.Jeff replied to 1320wayne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
those are pretty cool, that bus, like you said, is a 32' ford bus, a school bus i believe. Im going on a hunch though, there was one for sale locally a while back. that vw is pretty cool also, some guys go as far as chopping the top on them, shaving the fenders, stretching the front end out and installing a four link suspension type thing. they make great hot rods -

Corvette.Jeff replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I started a contest like "the masters challenge" you and bill geary would be the first two people i would ask to join, along with a bunch of other guys here. But of course im just 18, i couldnt start a model contest if i wanted to -
I was just reading the thread about "the masters challenge" i've never heard about it before today(of course i havent been in the model car world that long) Has anybody here ever been? it'd be cool to see some photos if anybody has some. Maybe we could start it back up?! and actually make a set of guidlines and rules though... Jeff.

its looking good so far one thing you can do if you dont like the way it sits, is to make your own frame. Its not as hard as you think...... I did that in about twenty minutes(i a ctually built a few different ones, but none seemed as good as that one. I mad it out of left over sprue, im eventually going to transfer the design over to a square tubeing type of styrene.

if you want to get rid of the door lines, just use some regular old bondo i use the glazing putty stuff that comes in a tube, its a one part filler thats really easy to sand, and it smells alot better than that two part stuff. heres some work ive done with it. that body started out as this littlel ol thing. a 27' ford sedan delivery so far iv'e got about 20 hours in this thing. that includes doing the initial chop to the top that started all the modification, then the top wasnt low enough for me so i choped it agian(all together i chopped it about six to eight scale inches, then i fabbed up some side panels for it becasue it didnt look right that low with that big of a window opening, then i decided i wanted to do a channling job to it to make it look even lower, well that worked untill i tryed to put the top half back on and it fell apart in my hands, so then it became a roadster One tip i cant stress enough about filler is dont use to much! apply small amounts at a time. this stuff eats plastic like a kid with a glandular problem eats cake! If you wanna know anything else p.m. me Jeff.

Harry,i dont plan to start smoking ever! I know its a bad habbit, and its deadly, and it costs alot.
-
Dont worry guys, im not picking up smoking, i find smoking nasty, my moms smoked since she was 16(shes over thirty now, i try to get her to quit every day) almost all my family smokes. I was just wanting to try it just to try it, its like all teenage boys do, we try things, dont ya'll rememmber being a teen saying, i wonder what beer tastes like? lol its like that, except i dont like beer. I didnt catch my post soon enough before harry closed it to reply, iv'e tryed cigarrets before and didnt like them then threw them away, it was a cheap pack of camels. What got me started on this is me and a couple of friends were talking about "those old guys" that smoke those big cigars, then we started talking about getting one to try. just some juvenaille delinquacy(spelling?) edit: i couldnt start smoking anyways, 1. my mom would kill me. 2. i skate, bmx, ride ten miles a day, and play drums in a band, i need good clean lungs

Just a little fyi, i dont know if you nocticed it or not, but in the reference photos those are two different cars. They are close, but have subtle differences. This is gonna be a cool build though, i love gassers.

I've been 18 for almost a year now, iv'e only bought one pack of cigarettes for myself and didnt like it so threw them away. I turn 19 in january and i've alwasy wanted to try a cigar, not to start smoking them, just to try it! So a question to some of the cigar smokers here, whats a good cigar to try? i was thinkning about one of those cheap little things you can pick up just about anywhere, but i am willing to go to a smoke shop if neccasery. Thanks,Jeff.

those are looking good! a small tip for the airbrush painting, when starting to paint the body always start your flow away from the car, then move towards either end of the body, like side to side motion, always put paint the length of the body, never stop in middle of the body or youll get teh globs of paint that you got, you should be albe to sand that down then repaint it. Also when painting with an airbrush always do light coats, the first coat doesnt even have to cover every part of the body. use paint as if it were gold! very sparingly! Just trying to help out friend Jeff.

alright got the brass rod, any ideas as to what i can put it together wiht? like glue for styrene. I have no soldering skills so thats out of the question.

i have a junk c5 body if you want it. the windshield frame is still in very good shape, and i still have the convertible roof. If you want it its yours. also i have the frame interior bucket and most of the inside stuff. Jeff.

also for filling gaps, even small ones, use as much plastic as you can. If you use ot much filler it will heat the plastic up so much it will eventually melt and fall apart. When using spot putty( i use bondo brand tube putty) use small thin amounts, also wait for it to dry completley, it usually dries in a couple of hours, but i let it sit over night. You do most of your stuff online? I would look into getting some evergreen sheet styrene then, i got a multi pack when i first started scratch building and highly recomend it. Heres a link. http://search.ehobbies.com/search?query=evergreen also, if your looking for model kits, just do a google search for model kit. JEff.
