Here we go again...Updated Dec. 13, 2009
Corvette.Jeff replied to Peter Lombardo's topic in WIP: Model Cars
A mid engine 'vette would be amazing! as long as they weighed the front down some how, every 'vette ive ever ridden in tends to "walk" the rear end once you get over 80 mph. i even know guys who have put sand bags in the spare tire carrier to weigh it down! Jeff -

this is gonna be cool, but just a little sugestion. maybe make it not so tall? 48" is tall for a 'vette, my c4 is well under 48", and its at stock hieght. this is gonna be awesome though! Do you need an ls1 still hooked up to the tourque tube? I've got an extra laying around. -
Hello. Im am making a hauler for a project i havent posted here before, the hauler is a 97' ford expedition, im already building a frame for it(the stock chassis plate sits to low for my taste) and i would like to add a tow hitch and a brush gaurd to it. The tow hitch is the easy part, i just have no clue where to start on the brush gaurd. I want to end up with something like this. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv.../300grillbk.jpg Thanks,Jeff.

Pre war hot rod ideas
Corvette.Jeff replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks to everyone for the tips and such! I thought i had posted about what i meant by "pre war", but i dont see the post any where, what i meant by it was teh car is pre war, but no specific era(hince the wheels ) IM mostly really looking for some ideas of where to go to next with this thing, like paint, dropping teh front down more, etc,etc... The backstory to this build would probably go something like this.... A kid finds an old 27' ford that was built somewhere in the fifties, when he found it it was just a rolling chassis and a shell, and since hot rods and fast cars were the big things in the 80's he decided he was gonna get this one, so he buys it imports a set of wheels from japan(i got em from a guy in hong kong ) and finds a sbc to power the car. and thats as far as i've gotten so far. -
Pre war hot rod ideas

I am inspired by 80's bmx quite a bit my current bmx even has the handlebars tilted forward(mostly for comfort) im alos riding brakless at the moment(mostly becasue im waiting for my tire to bald completley) im alos running the white wheel on the back with a black one on the front that is a cool idea for the engine! Thanks,Jeff -
lowering a model
Corvette.Jeff replied to fatkidd's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
also another little trick for shelf models that i've learned, instead of flipping teh leafs in the rear, cut off so much of the ends and it will ower it, this gives you controlable lowering and doesnt mess up wiht how the wheels sit(if you cut carefully) you can also cut off just the front to rake the rear up a bit( i did this on a 69' shelby a while back, sorry no pics of that) for a 60's skyjacker style. just rememmber you have to modify the shocks if you modify the leafs! -

heres an example of a body drop, errr channeling. well both. its not a truck, but it can give you an idea of sorts. notice how the body goes below the floor pans. and if you dont want to do that, you could always build your own frame.... or both.... jeff. -
Pre war hot rod ideas
Corvette.Jeff replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
heres mine as of right now. i think the wheels fit with the car(ignor the orange, i was testing my masking skills)so i may keep them on it, if not i have a set of slicks and steelies for it. another view. another the frame(poorly built, but its not gonna be shown) showing the bodywork. i usually wont show my bodys without a nice coat of primer, but the paint on this just looks so freakin awesome, i may just mask off the body and put a coat of primer on the body filler. jeff. -

hi all, its been a while since ive posted anything here well ive been busy with 1:1's here lately and haven't had much down time. Anyways, im working on a 27' ford sedan delivery(thanks to the tree hugger for the instructions) but I've hit a mental wall with ideas. At first i did just do a simple chop to it, then the sides fell apart from the belt line up, so i channeled it down, then made a little tonneau cover type thing for it. then i got a windshield outta the parts box and stuck in there. now it looks like an old pre war hot rod from socal, ill have to post pictures in a bit. But I've hit a mental wall of sorts on ideas for it. does anybody have some pictures of hot rods of this sort? i searched and couldnt find anything that looked like it. thanks,Jeff

I dont think an old beaten 84 'vette would be to welcome around a crowd of pre 78' show cars -

My uncle used to have a "drag boat" he would race on the water, it wasnt a full fleadged drag boat, just a boat shell with a decked out 454bbc with a set of zoomies i dont remember all he had on it because i was about 8 at the time, i think he wound up selling it to a friend and his kid sunk it another time he wanted a nascar sprint truck to race at a local track, so he built one out of a 80 something dakota I think he wound up with a 426 in it, he had to cut out the firewall just so the distributor would fit! Then there was the rail that he built from what i rememmber of it it ran in the high 5's -

Thats one thing that always got me about a ford engine, you can have two identical engines with the same go fast goodies on em, and theyll sound totally different -

I live about six and a half hours away in little ol' Granbury,Texas, its right below fort worth. Im only putting the 'vette up this winter because shes still out of comision, plus i've never driven on slick roads and i dont think my parents would apreciate me calling them telling them that i overpowered my car and wrapped it around a telephone pole -
Ive got an extra ls7 that would look pretty sweet in it if you want it
-
Today i was getting the 'vette ready for the winter and all that, she hasnt been started in a few months so i figured id start her up and run the fluids , and let her clear out her throaght It took a bit to let the battery build up enough juice to let her start, but when she did it brought back all the memories of corvettes i have. I think i pissed of a couple of my neighbors though, right now im on open headers one neighbor did come outside and compliment me on the way she sounded though, gah i cant wait to get her back on the road

I dont like it................ I love it A hatchback mustang! Maybe if you lowered the roof line a bit though? that would make the car "flow" better. just my opinion. whats in store for this though? rwd? fwd? opening hatch? big wheels? drag radials? color?

Astrovette poll
Corvette.Jeff replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Also some sunken in small sidepipes would look really good on this, as long as you extended them to the front of those parade skirts, that way they wouldnt just appear when your following the beltline. you may be able ot get away wiht a small spoiler at teh rear there, not a wing type of spoiler just a small molded in spoiler. Just my opinion still.lol
