Gregg or Harry, I have posted the Toledo NNL Nationals on the event calendar. Even though I posted it as being on October 9 it comes up as October 8. I even deleted & reposted, the same error comes up again. Now I realize few will think the show is on Friday, but you never know. Could you please look into this ? I sent an email to the forum administrator but got back a full mailbox message. Thanks much John Strick

The RICHARD CARROLL TIRE SET
jas1957 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ditto what Mark said, I have a set just in a bag. Richard was a guest at a Toledo NNL in the 80's I think, & he donated several sets as door prizes. A neat historical item but I don't know what I'd do with them. -
Spraying clear over BMF
jas1957 replied to my80malibu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree, no reason to do so. On 1:1 cars there is no clear over the chrome. I have cars I put BMF on 25 years ago it still looks great. John Strick -
Cleveland Ohio Collectors' Toy Show,
jas1957 replied to DRG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
John Carlisle's shows are usually heavily vehicle related, with a lot of model kits. Other toys also, but lots of cars. -

If You Build It, They Will Come!
jas1957 replied to Swifster's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Model Car World is doing a 59-60 Lark, hardtop & sedan. I think Jimmy Flinstone is doing a bullit nose. -
Check out Lance Sellers web site, in the garage area he has a pretty thorough photo tutorial on casting. www.lsresincars.com

Probably about 1965, I was 8 the kit was a Premier Studebaker Lark. It was the first car I remember my parents owning. I picked it out at Woolworths, 29 or 39 cents I think. My grandfather helped me build it, I remember him asking if I was going to customize it. I had no idea what he was talking about so trying not to look too dumb I said yes. John Strick

E.R. visit due to modeling mishap
jas1957 replied to samm1970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Been there done that, late 80's. I was working second shift & was home alone in the morning building. To make a long story short put a #11 blade & left index finger together. Wrapped it up with a wash cloth & drove to the hospital, only a 3 or 4 mile drive. The ER was empty, so in a couple hours or so I was home with 5 stitches. One bonus I remember was that the Dr. was a woman & when she was finished sewing me up I looked over and commented on all the blood on the wash cloth I had used. She told me how to get it clean ! A male Dr. would have just said oh well. Of course the moral is as we all know those things are just so d___ sharp you can't be to careful !! -
For sure, who knows. Best guess 250-300, I may find out this weekend. We are having sewer work done next week so we are cleaning out the basement ( it's all being moved to the garage ). So I may sort & count while moving it all. Of course my wife is realizing how large her vintage glass/pottery collection is also ! John Strick

What does NNL stand for?
jas1957 replied to bigmikevee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It stands for Nameless National Luminaries, this whole topic was hashed out last October. I don't know how to link to it, but check the general section from October 4 2009 a topic started by Spudmuffin1959. I have been involved in the Toledo show for 30 years & I can assure you the awards are not a big draw at our show. I strongly believe that the vast majority of our guests would be there awards our not. -
It is a 1935 Mercedes 150 Mid Engine Sports Roadster.

Half-round O-rings?
jas1957 replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In 30+ years of turning wrenches I don't think I've ever seen any o-rings that were not ether a round , square or flat cross section. I did just look at Grainger supply on line & they listed 3616 different o-rings. So they might be a place to start, or other industrial supply houses. Another idea might be a place that custom makes hoses those places stock fittings & o-rings of many kinds. Parker Hannafin has stores all over the country look them up. Hope this helps. -
Randy Derr, an artist & a gentleman Tim Boyd, simple clean style that always looks good Morgan Barkley, just the idea that he works in metal with flawless workmanship

Amen to that !!!

Thank you Clay, I will have to get a Photobucket account & go from there. I am not a world class builder but I do have some stuff I'd like to show off.
