  1. Thanks guys. I do appreciaate the information for sure. And I apologize for the double post. I thought that I had asked that question and then when I came back to seeif there were any responses . I found nothing, so I figured that I;d had an old time's moment and forgot to ask the question. *sighss* Golden years, huh? Bah! Hiumbug!
  2. Just wondering if there has been a 69 Camaro kit out the doesn't have the usual hideaway headlights? Or is there a resin body available from any casters that is a more basemodel than the usual? It seems that every model that I see of a '69 has the hidden headlights and I'd like to build one without them.
  3. The car looks really good Rick. It's my all time favorite car ahead of any other. what colour is it that you used?
  4. Just wondering if any 69 Camaro models were ever released that did not have the hideaway headlights? If not, does anyone know of a resin caster who produces the normal Z28 griile for a '69 Camaro? I have a friend who has a stunning '69 Z28 convertible and I;d like to build him a copy of his car as a gift.. Any help will be appreciated..

    59 BUICK

I'm not a real fan of customs, but this one sure does strike my fancy!!! You did a nice job on it and your efforts and work are evident in the quality of the build.
  6. By far and away, the 1959 Chevrolet is IMHO, the prettiest marque to roll out of the GM plants ever!!!! The convertibles look elegant in white and they are one of the few soft tops that look really good with the top up as well as down. My parents bought me a 348 powered convertible in 1974 as an early birthday present. It's an original Snowcrest White car with a red interior and I still have it although it has been in pieces for a long, long time. It's so nice to see one of these sitting as it should and in basic stock configuration. You are doing a nice job on this and you will have something to really be proud of when you are done. Stay with it and get 'er done and we'll all enjoy the pictures. May I ask what prompted you to buy this model and build it as you are doing?
  7. It's good to see a manufacturer finally step up to the plate and show some initiative and imagination!!! The same old same old from most of them has gotten kind of boring, especially when the best that they seem to be able to do is just keep pumping the same kits out that have been pumped out many times in the past. Revell at least gives it a decent effort and they have come out with some nice kits, but Moebius will be the force that the others will have to contend with as I see it. We'll see how really accurate the models are but I'm thinking that they will shine in light of the other manufacturers. I suspect that Moebius is listening to the customer base and watching these forums to get a feel for what might be coming next. The other guys are going to have to pull up their socks because it looks like they finally have some real competition!
  8. Looks great and I am happy to see it off the sprues and being enjoyed. The black is becoming on that car and it's noce to see another model built as a more or less run of the mill base model. We need more such models on themarket - two and four door sedans and wagons with the option of building it in the Brotherhood of Sparrows theme - you know -the cheap, cheap. cheap.. base trim lines with NO options...
  9. It causes me wonder why, when a particular kit always sells for major dollars, some resin caster doesn't produce one. Some of that Johan stuff just goes crazy and with the flurry of excitement and bidding, it should be fairly obvious that there is a market for some of these kits. I dunno - it just don't make any sense to me... there is obviously a market so hellooooo?????????? At least this car fell into good hands where it will be worthy of being a museum piece denoting days gone by when cars had character and class and were a reflection of their owner. I've had several '66's and had I been able to keep them, I'd never have gotten rid of them. They a very nicely designed automobile.
  10. Nice build, Rick!! The car looks really good in blue!!
  11. Arrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhh.. why do those morons in Hollywood just HAVE to destroy old vehicles like that???????????????????? Idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I've got quite a few that I have no intention of ever building as they are replacements for ones that I had in years gone by. I prefer to buy a built up that either needs to be striped and redone or one that I like and is well done enough to display. Some of the unbuilt kits that I can think of right now are: 1966 Dodge Polara convertible ( i have a 1:1 '65 Monaco convertible ) and a rebuilder kit that I bought off Ebay 1962 Fairlane ( have a started one that hopefully will get done - would love to convert one of those to a four door sedan.. ) AMT/ERTLE Peterbilt Wrecker ( bought a buil;t up in a cloolection a few years ago ) Johan Jadillac Hearse plus a bunch more... Looking at what many of these older kits sell for makes me ill and many of the ones that I want sell for more than I can justify spending on something to sit on a shelf in the box now. It seems the model car hobby is going the way of the 1:1 car hobby and people just want huge dollars for anything thatthey even think just might be old. Oh well...
  13. That's a really sweet build if ever there was one! I really do like that colour on thise cars too. I had a black one years ago with a red interior and it sure was a pretty car. Your choice of colour is a nice swing away from the usual red and white and black versions. Those were actually a very good car aside from the fact that frame rust got a lot of them and they ended their service lives prematurely. The interior compartment on the galaxies was like sitting in an auditorium.. they were incredibly spacious and nicely designed. They were and still are one of the most under appreciated really nice cars that Ford ever made. Many of them became engine donor cars for lighter makes and models as those 390's were good performers. Yeah - a really nice build that I'd sure be proud to have on my shelf and would sit front and center for sure!! AAAAA++++
  14. You would need to replace the front sheet metal, dash and I believe the taillights. I am not sure whether the front end can be modified to take the newer grill, but I do know that the fenders are different for sure.
  15. Looks good! Which Bronco kit did you use to get the right front suspension and differential? I have a kit and a promo that I'd like to convert to a four wheel drive but I have been wondering which four wheel drive kit has that bizarre front end set up in it that would pass for something close to stock? I have a 92 F150 4x4 that serves me daily - I hate the truck but in five years of daily driving, I've only had to replace the water pump. I change oil and filters, grease it but it still is running fine so I haven;t so much as pulled a spark plug out of it. It's even got the same tires on it as when I acquired it in a trade. It's a 300 six cylinder with a 5 speed transmission and the thing couldn't get out of its own way as far as power goes, but it's affordable to drive and it never has let me down. What I hate more than anything about the truck is the colour - it's that crappy burgundy that Ford used for so many years. If I was ever to repaint it, I'd do a complete colour change to white and that light silvery green colour that they had. The only truck that I've owned that was as reliable as this one is our old '77 ranger F150 Supercab that we have owned since 1986. I am a GM guy at heart, but I have to admit that Ford made some good trucks.
  16. I'm still looking for that rear bumper.. just a quick update..
  17. That's an awesome build, Alan!! WOW!! What is amazing is that it is a rebuillder! Just goes to show what talent and determination can accomplish! I'd add a lone from the movie too, but there were too many good ones for me to just pickone. It's oneof my all time favorites and I still get goose bumps watching that Kenworth and that Firebird rolling down the highway!
  18. I'm about ready to order some factory body colours for several builds and I am wondering who uses what kind of paint and primer and why you choose to do so? So far, I've looked at Scale Finishes and Model Car World - any other suggestions as sources for OEM colours for older cars? Price is less of an issue that quality. I talk like I am rich, but I am not. However, I painted 1:1 cars for 15 years and learned that usually, you get what you pay for when it comes to paints and primers. Having aid that, I found that some cheaper paints worked just fine for certain purposes and believe it or not, porch and floor enamel shines like a silver dollar when mixed and applied properly on a 1:1 car. I used regular automotive paint almost always but there was a time or two when someone had little money to spend and it was an econo job. I'll be using an automotive lacquer primer so anything can go over top of it. However, I am seeking opinions and advice and maybe we can share some tips for using certain paints. I have gallons and quarts of paint left over from my painting days - lacquers, synthetic and acrylic enamels, urethanes and commercial implement enamels, all of which I learned when I was building before, work fine on models if applied properly. Having said that, I want correct colours on some of my more favorite projects like my '59 Impalas and Modelhaus 59 Chevy wagon, 64 Fairlane annual, 63 Mercury Meteor annual, 59 Ford annuals, 63 Galaxie annual and so on. So, what are your preferences and why? Personally, I'd use urethanes all day long if I could get the colours in less than one pint quantities. The model has to sit out of the house for several weeks to gas off as the vapors are pretty severe and one definitely does not want to be breathing that stuff or have it in your home. I am looking forward to the advice of the wise and experienced... Thanks for reading this and thank you in advance for posting.
  19. VERY nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really like that colour. Now you need to do another one that depicts the same truck in its original form before it was lowered.. that would make such a sweet stablemate for this truck - kind of a before and after. or do another one to sit between the aforementioned two showing it sitting in a field or abandoned in a back alley..
  20. What an outstanding conversion from a toy to a replica!!!! May I ask where you got the decals? I just bought one of the excvators and would like to decal it like yours is plus add somemore features. It looks kind of cheesy in its opriginal state but it sure transforms nicely with the proper colour and some extra detailing! Also - onemore question - how did you prepare the plastic for paint? A light scuff with some fine sand paper and laquer primer?
  21. Thanks guys. I think that I have found someone who graciously has offered to undertake the project. I am sending him some information and so far, things sound very positive. I'll let you know how things workout. I did try to do the layout myself but I do not have software nor the patience with a computer to do the job. Sometimes it is just better to let someone who knows what they are doing handle things and save ones self a lot of frustration and stress. I appreciate the posts though. Thank you one and all..
  22. I agree whole heartedly as to the unquestionable product that comes with any Modelhaus order. It will be a real blow to the hobby when they close their doors, let me tell you. I doubt that there are many people out there who could hold a candle to Don and carol when it comes to ethics, service and a guaranteed quality product. I have bought from Tom Coolige of Promolite 2000 and I have to say that Tom's personality, service and products are all at par with Modelhaus. I bought Tom's '59 Ford Custom 300 and I am still in aweof not justthe model itself, but also with the extras that came with it. The dog dish hub caps are bt hemselves, works of art as the detailing is second to none. Like Modelhaus, the cost may seem a bit high but let me assure you that with both vendors, you get what you pay for and it's well worth every penny and then more. As for the wait for delivery - that's just the way it is. I am just thankful and happy that I can even order the stuff.
  23. I am surprised at the price!! I am not into drag cars but I'll have a look and see what else is available from Shapeways. As has been said, it's more cost and time efficient than building the cage yourself from scratch.
  24. That is a very pretty car!! I watched the movie Christine just once and it hurt too much seeing plymouth after Plymouth destroyed. But I really appreciate the lines of these cars. A friendof mine had a black belvedere hardtop... Wasit sharp!!! Nice build and it's nice to see your friends workmanship.
