  1. I love the colours and the build itself!!!!!!!!! Looks like you spent some time on that one.. How about some interior shots? Those '57's sure do look good with that side trim package!
  2. Nice stuff!!!!!!!!!!! I especially like the Ford truck and the beater sedan..... they are all nice builds.. good quality subjects and workmanship!
  3. When I look around me at the amazing assortment of goodies that are availabe out there for us model car people these days, I have to wonder if the hobby is now in it's glory days and how long will many of the after market and resin goodies be available for us? Some really good resin casters have quietly slipped away from the scene and the unique pieces and kits that they offered are no longer available, except through Ebay mostly. I recently purchased a resin '60 Impala four door sedan off of Ebay and I can not recall ever even seeing that available. SO stuff does still surface because of the Internet and sites like Ebay. But you sure have to step out and pay for that obsolete stuff... There are more resin casters coming on stream but apparently the quality of some of the products is mediocre at best. Even the old standard Modelhaus wont be around forever and they have discontinued some stuff over the years I am told - so what's your opinion? Most of us can not afford to purchase everything that we would like to buy in after market parts and models as most decent models seem to run anywhere from $45.00 on up. So it isn't like a guy can buy eight or ten at a time to put away for future builds. Many folks are on very limited budgets these days with the economic situation so even one resin kit a month is out of the question. I plan on purchasing a couple of trucks at the end of this month but there sure are a lot of others that I would love to buy too.. several thousand dollars worth at least. No, I know that I wont ever build everything that I already have but it's nice to have the option and as long as Ebay is around, there will be a market for what ever is left after I leave the planet should my wife or kids decide to sell the colection off - which is likely what will happen because my kids are not into models at all. So what do you think? Do you ever get sort of frantic at the thought that some of the kits that you want so badly today may not be so readily available or so affordable in a few years? As much as I love models, I have my limits as to what I will pay for one and I just watched a '64 Bonneville buildup sell for well in excess of $100.000 on Ebay - sorry but I just can not justify spending that much on one model to have it sit on a shelf in a room where it will be viewed by very few people other than myself. I say that because I simply do not know of anyone in my immediate area who collects or builds.. So what do you think the future of the hobby really is given the fact that most kids today are into computers rather than models and besides, at $25.00 and up for a model kit, not a lot of kids can afford to get into the hobby. Your views and thoughts - please.......
  4. Does any resin caster offer chromed exterior door handles for American made cars? I am talking the traditional handles such as on the '68 El Camino or the Chevy pickups of the '60's and 70's and not the flat pull out ones. The molded on door handles are pretty pathetic when it comes down to it - I really like the chrome ones that you attach to the body like on the Revell '59 Impala kits 'cause they sure do look better than the lumps that are molded onto the doors of most models. Any suggestions???
  5. Just wondering if anyone can suggest a bench seat that would fit into and look right in an AMT '68 El Camino?

    Fuelie '57

Oh wow!!!!!!!!! Is that clean and sweet! What a breath of fresh air to see a '57 built like this rather than modified! The red suits the car perfectly and it sits just right.. An outstanding job indeed!
  7. Man, that casting sure does look good! So crisp and clean!!!! I'd love to do one of those stock with a six cylinder! You are sure doing a nice job on this one and like some of the other posters, I am not a fan of the wheels that you are using but I have to admit that they sure do look good on this car! Your choice of colours is right on and this is sure going to be an outstanding build! I like the unusual and orphan cars - stray puppies as my wife calls them - and I have always liked the Gremlin - ugly duckling that they are. Some things are so out there and homely that they are actually cute and the Gremlin is in that category in my books - but ya gotta love 'em, cause they are so - well - they just have character and ya gotta love character!! Sure looks good here - keep up the good work!
  8. I had never heard of Pandora.com so I tried to access it. Again, the legal beagles strike - because I live outside the U.S., I am denied acceess to the music. Sometimes all of this legal stuff gets really old.. *sighs* Oh well, there are opther stations and of course there is Limewire for downloads which by the way, are still legal and free here in Canada last I heard.
  9. Well done!!!!!!! I like the one side damage - very realistic and within tasteful, realistic limits! Some times the damage and evidence of a hard life on a car is over done.. yours looks pretty real although I do concur with the vinyl roof being pretty shiney. or did you just treat it with a liberal coat of Armour All??
  10. Now that is pretty!!!!!!!!! The placement and choice of colours is excellent and the red wheels with the little hub caps - sets the car right off! VERY clean, pretty and sharp!!!!!!!!!!!!! How about some good interior shots???? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. It's vintage country for me.. Johnny Horton, Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, etc., etc. I make my own CD's so I canmix in a bit of other stuff as well such as classic rock such as some CCR, early Beatles, Ventures, Beach Boys, etc, etc. Some of the classical stuff is good too - especially Strauss. I also like other stuff like some Celtic music ( Foster and Allen, Celtic Woman albums, etc and almost anything except for rap, new age rock, heavy metal - it HAS to have a melody.. a tune and be pleasing to my ears and my spirit. Sometimes, I just like peace and quiet.. and then sometimes I just sits and thinks - and sometimes I just sits.........
  12. Just wondering what is available that you guys know of in the way of a 1981 style Camaro - ideally a NON Z28 car? Are there conversion hoods to convert a Z28 to a Berlinetta or plain jane Camaro?
  13. This should be neat!!!!!!!!! Too bad that they never released a first generation Econoline in plastic - I have had two of them ( 1:1's ) and they are - well, ya just gotta love them! They have character and they are sure cute. Build on.. let's see what you can do with this!
  14. I was home from work with the flu and I was online when I heard about it. Little did any of know how our lives would be forever changed that day and how the world around us would change. I have never looked at a fireman the same since that day - no longer do I take them for granted and think of them as just another civil servant. The one image from that day that still haunts me was a photograph taken of a fireman running up a set of stairs inside one of the towers as people were strwaming past him on their way out of the building. That fireman never came out - I the number on his helmet was visable in the picture and I came to find out that he was one of those selfless, incredibly brave ones who gave his life trying to save others. The one small bit of satisfaction that I get from that whole thing was that one day, those who planned and perpetuated what happened - regardless of who and where they are - they will ( as will we all ) stand before our Maker and be held accountable for what they did and be dealt with accordingly. Somehow, I don't think that what awaits them is quite what they were promised by their fantical leaders. I mean no disrespect to any religion when I say that.. we are entitled to believe what we choose to, but I do not see where slaughtering thousands of civilians who are just at work earning a living to support their families can ever be justified in any sane, rational way. My heart truly goes out to all who were affected by those horrendous, sick acts of fanaticism.
  15. Very pretty! I can't say as I ever recall seeing that kit on the store shelves but mind you, I was more into Chevy and Ford convertibles and hardtops back then. I have some old Lincolns packed away - I think that they are early '60's.. They were a pretty enough car and undoubtedly VERY comfortable and smooth. Nice job!
  16. That is one of the nicest builds that I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously you have some serious hours in that car - and your photography is above average by far!!!!!! Sure is a pretty car.. the '69 was without a doubt, the prettiest Camaro ever built - without exception! Whoever designed that car really had talent and taste.......... and the quality and attention to detail of your model is a fitting tribute to one of the General's best efforts.........
  17. Cute subject!!!!!!!!!!! Unusual too!!! Where did you get the model from? It's rare to see something like that in our scale... wouldn't mind one of those myself.. By the way, your weathering really does look terrific! Nice job and the wee girl looks right at home where you photographed her - in the dirt.. she could pass for the real thing...

    '72 Goat

A great choiceof colour and wheels! The car looks so right in that colour!!!!!!!!! You need to tell usmore about the build - more detail as to what you did and how you utilized the different chassis.. please do so..
  19. Your tastes pretty much mirror mine - except that I am not fond of mini trucks.Like you, I am into the older domestics ( read that as North American manufactured and assembled ) and my first true love is the '59 Chevrolet. Actually, I like most pre 1980 domestics and while I love convertibles, for practical use, it is hard to beat a full sized wagon or Suburban. Sedan, hardtop, convertible, wagon, El Camino, Ranchero, Suburban or truck - I like almost all of them. As for brands - they all have their good points and their weakness's but though we seem to drive Fords mostly, I actually prefer GM products. This a good subject........ should be interesting reading.. maybe you should do this as a poll......
  20. Don't have a clue as to what it is but it sure is cute!! I mean, it's sort of - well... uh... it's like the runt of the litter - so ugky that it's cute - has it's own special charm.. yeah - I'd drive it in a heartbeat!! I'd say that it's European - Russian or somewhere in that area.. imagine trying to find parts for that thing???? It'd make a Crosley look like a Ford or a Chevy as far as availability goes...
  21. The worst part about these people is thatthey are like dealing with government - when they stick it to you, you have absolutely no recourse. I mean, what are you going to do? Better yet, who are you going to do it to? The trouble with this cyber world that has descended upon us is it is anonymous and faceless.. people can hide behind a computer and tell you they are one thing but in reality they are something and someone totally different. The people who hack know that there will be no repurcussions - they are just sick individuals who get their jollies by disrupting the lives of other people who have never done them any wrong. It's impossible to police stuff like this.
  22. I wonder why Modelhaus discontinued the model? Surely there would be a market for it yet today...
  23. That is exactly the type of thing that I was talking about - there is not any Corvette in the world that could ever replace his car - even if GM was to build him a brand new exact replica..which of course is an impossibility. My heart really goes out to him especially. But my point is that while the '57 Chevy convertible that someone just bought and was lost would be bad enough, there was not the emotional attachment that there would be to a car that a person has owned for many years - say their first car for example. I have a '59 Impala convertible that was a gift from my parents in 1974 and though it is sitting in pieces and has been for years, if something ever happened to that car, it could never be replaced. As for the people who started the fire - no matter who they are or where they are from - I truly believe that they should be tried and convicted for something akin to attempted murder regardless whether someone died in the fire or not - they had no real way of knowing that there was no one in that building when they torched it. People like that are a threat to us all because who knows where or when they will do this again.. the penalty for arson should be incredibly strict and send a really strong message to other firebugs. Just my opinion.
  24. Can anyone explain the differences between the '68 AMT El Camino model and a '69 El Camino kit? I am thinking that these differences will include side marker lights and dash board.. how difficult would it be to turn a '68 into a '69 using the Modelhaus conversion kit? Or could the grille and front bumper from the AMT '69 Chevelle be used? I somehow doubt that it would be an easy and simple thing to accomplish - these things seldom are. But perhaps a word from the wise and the experienced .. Thanks in advance for your replies and help.
  25. I agree - thankfully no one was hurt or worse. While the business can be rebuilt, what was in the building can't be replaced. Once an old car is gone, it's gone. It isn't like trees - a renewable resource. My heart goes out to the people who's dreams went up in smoke. Say ywhat you want but insurance really doesn't cut it by giving you dollars after you have lost something dear to your heart in a fire. Some things just can never be replaced no matter how much money they give you. I know...
