  1. I recently stumbled across a pic on the 'net, of a Manta 400. Needless to say I was instantly intrigued. I have looked for a kit, but not been able to find one. There is a resin version by Narton Model Cars, (Narton Model cars) but they only seem to ship to dealers? Anyone know where I can get a kit of one of these beauties?
  2. AMAZING!! That is simply the best 66 I have ever seen.
  3. Personally, I would try Ca Debonder first. Just drip it on a paper towel, and wipe away do this several times, and it should be fine. Just be sure to test first. Soaking the part in anything will take off any fillers you may have added.
  4. May I offer some advice? NEVER tear them apart!! They will come apart on there own. In ten years, if you stick with it, it will be nice, to look at some of your first builds, and see how far you have come. It also helps, to see what you were doing wrong. Just my opinion. Good luck, and keep building, they get better as you learn.
  5. Pics of what you are trying to do, or hope for it to look like would help.
  6. I believe that all clear resins recommend the use of a pressure tank, to remove bubbles.
  7. What was the humidity like, when it was painted? It sounds like there may be moisture trapped in the paint. Pics would be nice, to make certain.
  8. I have 2 of those, pretty simple. I wonder if they could be kit bashed with a Beretta, or Grand prix kit, for under hood detail to make a full detail replica. (GP would be more accurate.)
  9. As far as what size styrene to get, it depends, on the kit, and the scale. Personally, I would get a couple of "odds and ends"packs. I think that those will get you started, all kinds of different junk in those. As far as cutting: Dremels are great for quick sloppy destruction, but terrible for presicion cutting. (Through PLASTIC, anyway!! They rotate too quickly, and they end up burning/melting, as much as they grind/cut.) For cutting plastic, you need a good razor saw, xacto, or? Most of the time, I use the back of an exacto knife, but I do have a razor saw, and a blade, it depends on how precise,of a cut, as to what tool to use. Go to a Local Hobby Shop, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby, ALL kinds of cool sharp objects to hurt yourself with there! Er.. I mean cut styrene with. Don't limit yourself to model tools, look in all the sections. Woodworking, pottery, scrapbooking, etc. Neverknow what you might find.
  10. This is NOT just a problem, of the 60's, and 70's. This problem occurs, in the 80's kits TOO. I have purchased quite a few MPC kits, from the 80's that have tire melt problems.
  11. Why start with the Revell Cobra, when you could just use the AMT Mustang Gt Kit? One of the aftermarket companies makes a wheel similiar to that, either Fujimi, or Aoshima. or you could use the wheels from the Mustang Super Stallion / Shelby Series 1. Though not exact, they are similiar. OR you COULD just build the convertible version!!
  12. Besides Model tinkering, I used to have MANY aquariums, and I USED to keep and breed African Cichlids, but living in an apartment, it became more work than fun. Now I just keep reptiles. Snakes in particular. Small snakes, not large. Here is one, it is a corn snake.
  13. If you like those songs, then you should check out this song and vid!!! The song
  14. So, uhm what does the 1:1 look like exactly? What would you be looking for, in a kit? There is a reason that I ask.
  15. I got mine done, in Jan. It's not as bad as they say. Just make em knock you out first!!
  16. I think it will work, the only problem I see might be the clear yellowing. (Tamiya should be o.k.) I would at least give it a try. If you are afraid for your air brush, then try a cheap air brush, from Harbor Frieght, or Big Lots, or the like. I don't think brushing it on would work, as you would get gobs of the metal dust, in some spots and none in others. I would try several mediums, too! What about mixing it into Future, and spraying it that way? Just a thought.
  17. That is very cool!! Nice job.
  18. Very cool, I had a 78.
  19. Very nice!
  20. Not to bring up bad memories, but if you had HALF as much work, and talent, into the one that got stolen, than it is EASY to see why it was stolen. Still an absolute TRAVESTY, that someone would steal someone elses hard work... This build is just AWESOME!!
  21. This is based on the Revell Mustang Gt Kit. It's Plastic. It is meant to look like this, when finished. OR Not the best examples, but you get the idea.
  22. That is some TASTY lemonade right there! Great job!! That kit HAS to be one of Revells worst offerings ever!!
  23. They look VERY Nice!!
  24. Very cool!!
