  1. Super build Curt... The perfect beach cruiser. Bob
  2. Outta Da Park Roger! Bob
  3. Here's one I did for constructing struts. Frankly, the techniques for doing struts, coliovers and standard shocks are basically all the same. Hope this helps. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37867&st=0&p=390035&hl=struts&fromsearch=1&#entry390035 Bob
  4. I used a new blade for this 60 Starliner and it's still cutting like the first time I used it. Perhaps I'm just thinking it's still as sharp. Not certain what is dulling your blades prematurely. I use the blade only in my hand with no handle attached. It allows me precise control. I read that another here was using this method so I tried it on this car and the results bear it out. Considering how much foiling needed to be done I was still able to do it [after four 1 hour sessions] with consistent results. I believe this blade still has at least another trim heavy car in it. Perhaps even two. Bob
  5. Seems to be a concensus here. Tamiya, Testors and Duplicolor. I use the Duplicolor cheap brand primer and that stuff is great. It's house branded i believe to whatever store you are shopping at. My local shop carries the Bright Beauty line. It's Duplicolor by any other name. Great stuff. I use Testors 1814 enamel clear for all my color coats though. Tamiya for white and the brighest yellow. I've found a system and these paints are all part of it. Bob
  6. Jon, your mind is warped.... IN A GOOD WAY. I'm loving this build. Bob
  7. FINALLY the decals and windows. I'll let you all make the determination if the decals are correct. I have some Huggar Orange in my stash for this car. I was looking at Tamiya orange but it was just too bright. Let the opines begin. Bob
  8. The chrome on mine is quite flawless and the molds have probably been cleaned up a bit. Those wheels will need to be stripped. Interior is spartan but isn't that how they ran it? DOH experts weigh in here as well. Looks like some of the NASCAR pieces are missing here? The seats look good after a cursory glance. Tires are quite nice and the tubing will surely suffice. MORE black plastic. Final post
  9. Not so much a review but a look see into the box that a great many have been waiting for. The kit clearly shows it NASCAR heritage, but what's here is inviting and nostalgic. Let's take a look. An Iconic Image if ever there was one. Say what you will about the lowbrow slant of the show, its popularity cannot be denied. Upon opening the box you are greeted to this. Perhaps ALL WHITE plastic would have been asking too much? I am by no means an expert on Chargers, but this looks preety darned good to my eyes. Weigh in experts. Next post
  10. Since I like mine on the outside too.... Bob
  11. Let me be the first to say. WOW! Creative and so well executed. I am jealous for not doing it first. Also, kudos for best use of a Cherry Bomb in like forever! Bob
  12. Great looking Super Comp broski.... Everything looks spot on and clean. Bob
  13. Here's one of mine. Bob
  14. Sweet old school 1/16th John. Makes me want to break out my Garlits 1/16th and finish it. But I have so many more that need finishing. Great stuff J. Bob
  15. This is the same as the Newman Toyota kit if I'm not mistaken Harry. Toyota Tom's just had different livery. Bob I actually had the Newman car at one time. I melted the body with a hair dryer.....
  16. Yessireeee, Tamiya synthetic laquer in the spray can can be sprayed directly over Tamiya acrylics with no ill effects. Bob
  17. What positively thrills me is seeing only American automobiles on the road. That was a great time indeed. Bob
  18. I think you may be too tough on yourself. But aren't we all. Looks fantastic from where I'm sitting. very nice sir Bob
  19. Simply stunning! Bob
  20. I dragged it out for a couple of pics. It's been dry for a couple of weeks now. I put it away so I would not be tempted to do anything else on it till my 1960 Starliner and 07 GT500 are finished. I'll be done by the deadline by a mile though. I may end up painting the top cover an off white. Interior will be white of course. Bob
  21. "Fly poop out of pepper"? I have to remember that one. I LOL'd. Looks great for a first effort. It's all in the wrist. Bob
  22. The reason the Ides Of March song "Vehicle" sounds like BST is because David Clayton Thomas sang it. He eventually joined BST. Or did BST evolve from IOM? I forget. My song "Freeway" from the pointer Sisters [Or Springsteens tune] both have pink Cadillacs in them. So there ya have it. I'm in Bob
  23. OK, hold onto your hats here. I'm in for the "Pink Cadillac". Believe it or don't, I actually have one in paint right now. How bizarre is that? Bob
  24. Great start Roger. You are the Pro Stock master. Bob
  25. Well one thing's for certain. The instruction sheet is untouched. Even when I first started build....... I'm not going there. Geez... Bob
