I use it with either Mr Color or Tamiya acrylic clear to seal tire decals on my drag prjects and have had great results. There was a learning curve though. At first I used too much, then not enough. It's true it can white out so if you end up with that finish you can go over it again with another mix to correct it. I now use my special mixture exclusively for tire decals and have found other uses as well. Gotta mess with it a bit till you find the happy medium you seek. Good luck, it isn't hard to find. Bob

Craftsmanship, execution, gall. 3 things that make a great model apart from the ordinary. WOW! Some don't get it? No worries. Bob

Absolutely beautiful Tim. Where'd you get the re-pops? They available by someone or did you do em yourself? Very nice car in all respects. A few more pics wouldn't hurt. Interior in particular. Bob

Those look GREAT Shane! Well worth the effort and better than PE by a ###### site too. I'll never use kit spokes again. Something tells me neither will you. Bob -
Welcome Tom... Lots on info here like the others have said. Enjoy back to the hobby and welcome to the fold. Look in the "Under Glass" section for inspiration and plenty of beautiful cars. Bob

Once again, my favorite MAMA modeler Dave Zinn comes to my rescue to provide the missing nosepiece for this build. Thanks Dave and the skate sticker pack is on the way. As for Don Fahrni? I dunno. It's been a while since he's put anything new on the tables anywhere. He is also MY favorite drag modeler as well. I think John Teresi may eventually inch him out, but right now Don is still up there for me. His stuff is just soo cool. And to think how long ago he was doing all that superdetailing [read: 80's]. Before the advent of PE sets, and at the dawn of scale AN fittings. He has one Pro Stock car that is just soo over the top in terms of detailing. That's the car that has the scraped AN fittings that look like they've seen many a wrench. The whole dry sump just looks so perfect. Maybe Don's a memmber here? If you are Don, give us all a holler buddy. We'd love to hear from ya. Bob

How do you display your builds
Dragline replied to kobuzz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Geez Gary, that case is chock full o great cars and awards. I have no place to put mine so they go back in their boxes and I break out another. I have a case in mind, but they are so bloody expensive I may end up making it. I wouldn't say I have Norm Abram skills, but I know my way around a table saw and router table. Perhaps someday. Bob -

I have NO IDEA how I missed this build J. I must say, it is a beauty. I like those MCG detail sets too. They just add that next dimension that paint detailing or scratch building cannot really achieve. I can't wait to see the paint and the home stretch. Great work buddy. Bob -
This is looking way tough dude. I'm watching this one all the way. Shame about the silvers though. I was liking those, but this color is also very nice. Win, Win if you ask me. Bob

Got my wire wheels installed. For a first time outing I am pleased. I still need the nosepiece I lost. I still have to attatch the throttle from the framerail to the throttle pivot and then connect it to the fuel block. My eyes are getting a break tonight though. I need to get an airbrush pretty soon though. I need to learn how to Alclad. These wheels would look better than with the Metalizer I sprayed on em. Either that or I'm going to start sending parts out to be rechromed. Still not done, but it may never be....... NOT without that nosepiece, that's for certain... Bob

I can't believe it's taken me all this time to write something about your car Lyle. My MAMA mentor sure built a great one here guys. I love the take off shot. MAMA strikes again! Bob

Why exactly do you post?
Dragline replied to bigmikevee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like to trade ideas with others. I like to see my stuff up in lights. I like to sleaze ideas off others since I have no original ideas of my own. I like to know what others think about the alone time I spend with plastic little thingies and low lights. I like to build for MYSELF first and foremost. I then send it out into the ether where it is picked up by aliens and laughed at on other worlds besides this one. Seriously? I like the Community it gives me. I have no one else to share these with, with anyone I'm close to. They kinda get it, I guess but it's lost on them for the most part. So you guys have to bear the wreckage I call my model cars. A small price to pay I'd say. At least you don't have to deal with me on a more personal, face to face type level. You've been spared that much. Bob -
CrazyFrigginRidonculouslyNice John...... Once again, the Master strikes. Bob

With your skills Shane I've no doubt they will be better than mine. I was intimidated at first, but then I thought, "why the heck am I worried?". Then, by the second one I was in a groove. I finished them today and as soon as they are dry I will hit em with Metalizer. The hubs are the key to the whole process I'll say that. Making sure it's centered is also very key. The rims should be free of blemishes and smooth as well. I dry fit em into the tires [plastic kit ones at that!], and they look real good. I used .015 when they recommend .010. Even still [all I had on hand], they look WAAAAAY better than the kit supplied wheels. Plus, they have wiggle room and can be tweaked as needed. For my first attempt I'm pleased. You will be as well bro. Go get em buddy. Bob

Thank you kind sir. That is the finest compliment I have EVER received ever for any model I have ever built. I have put my heart and soul into this car and the journey has been fun. This is the first build I ever posted here all that time ago and it seem like I've been working on it for a long time. But, it nears completion. Except, I lost the completed nose piece! LOLOL Don't that beat all? Thanks again. Bob
