Since I've been in a funk latley with my builds I decided to buy a kit and build it in one month start to finish. Not a lot of extra detail per se. More of a "Can I still have fun doing this" thing. So I picked the AMT 1960 Ford Starliner kit. First off, GOSH what a great kit this is! I'd seen the photo top version from some years ago and thought it was a great car, but after doing some research about it and digging out some old mags I am really loving this design. So, on the first of this month I opened the kit and started in on it. Got the body sanded and ready for primer in a couple of days and layed down some Duplicolor flat white. When I bought it I knew EXACTLY what color I was painting it. Whether it was factory correct or not I was painting it Tamiya Coral. I think it's TS-49? I'd been lusting over the color since I first set eyes on it but since I'm basically a drag car builder it never was appropriate. So here it is after 3 color coats and 2 coats of Testors 1814 clearcaot. I'll buff it out in a few day and get ready for at least 3-4 sessions wiith the BMF. I also have the PE detail set on the way as well. Thought I'd share how I'm getting out of my funk. I picked a car that doesn't have to be exact, and it's sort of out of my comfort zone in an odd sorta way. But it's car model, not sure how out of the zone it could really be at any rate. I'm building one to get out of a funk as well Donald. I like your color combo. I'm going with Tamiya TS-49 Coral blue with an ivory interior and coral accents. Yours is looking good. I'll be staring a WIP thread soon for mine. Determined to get outta tha funk. Bob

I'll throw my hat into the ring as well here. Between Battlefield II, guitar, beer and work I am working less on my projects than ever. BUT, I now have a cure. Holy Moly Bill! That 99 will wear the inner part of those tires out in a week. Must be the control arms doing it. Looks like a tear apart/rethink is needed on that one buddy. Bob

I was tempted to pass up clicking on this one because a great many scale flame jobs don't look all that great. WOW!!!!!!!!!! One of the best I've ever seen. Share your technique with the rest of us please. Perhaps a tutorial. Bob

I [and many others] use clear acrylic to attatch PE parts. It's clear [Duh], and will not fog the part. If you mess up simply drip some thinned ammonia on it and try again. Bob

I have read the first 2 or 3 pages of this thread til it started getting a little wonky. For me MCM still beats SA/SAE or whatever else they are calling it. I'm not happy with the schedule it has taken, but I get the issues that are released and am always happy I did. I wait till SA/SAE is discounted to 1.00 at my local shop and then I buy it. That's what I think it's worth. NOW, back some years ago SAE was THE mag to buy. It was relentlessly good and had muy content. I posted on the "MCM Want You" thread that I'd be happy to do a couple of articles and was not answered. So I am imagining that there is content galore awaiting publication and that my input was not needed. So the fact that the mag has yet to ship it's 2010 final issues has me baffled a tad. If I see both mags on the rack and I have enough for both I usually buy MCM and wait for SA/SAE to get discounted. My local shop owner understands this and doesn'y hold any enmity towards me for it. We've discussed it at length and he feels the same about SA/SAE content as I do. So I guess it's time to ask Gregg/Harry et all. Are you serious about publishing this thing and become the king? It's RIPE for the picking that's a certainty. I'll submit any amount of well written/photographed articles if they are in short demand. I'm a fan. Bob

Ken, to be honest I just pulled it out of the box the other day. With 12 projects in various stages of completion it looks like I may NEVER get one done. But hope springs eternal, so I'm actually working on my Bud King car while doing work on my Reher Morrison build. If you can't follow, don't worry. Neither can I....
