Marcos, you and Ron are building some tight little Hurst Olds there. I hope it's done for the March MAMA meeting so you'll bring it. Bob
-
Outstanding Ron..... I want to see this in person. Make certain you bring it to the next MAMA meeting. I'm sure I'll be there. Bob
-
Totally nutty! Have no fears though. In the US, we had plenty of "Parts Catalog" cars running around. Can you say JC Whitney? Looks great, especially the seat treatment. Well done. Bob
-
Very well done. I'm loving this build. Your scratchbuilding style is clever. This is gonna be a BAD GT500. I'm/we're watching........... Bob
-
Yep, I'll be foiling the top of the doors. I have to foil in sessions. I cannot do it all at once or I'd go bananas. I plan on another finishing session tonight. I have to foil the marker lights as well as the headlight buckets and front running lights. That's a LOT of foiling! I'll be adding a drop of yellow to the front running light buckets before I put the lens on as well. My reference pix show it as a clear leans with an amber bulb. Right now I'm tackling the dash and side panel painting. Lots of silver trim on those. It's coming along nicely and the motor is drilled for plug boots and the dist is ready. The taillight lenses get chrome trim and the center section chrome as well. I have a PE carb kit that I'll be using for the linkages and throttle. Pray I don't go blind! LOL Bob

Thanks for the attaboys guys. John Bowers, very nice car there. I did a little foiling, but it still needs more. I made progress on the chassis but I'll post pix when it's mostly together. The big block is coming together and I'm stripping the headers and sidepipes for flat black. I really like this kit but the sidepipes have 2 injector pin marks right out in the open on the tops of both of them. Probably my only quibble about it really. More to come. Bob
-
That is killer. It almost looks like it has more detail than you say. It tricks the eye. Very nice. Bob
-
Aaaahhhh, I see your thread here now. It looks HOT as a conv. You are doing it justice too. If I were more daring like you I'd do this car as a conv. I lack the chromosone that likes to cut up pretty bodies I guess. LOL It's looking gggggreat. Bob
-
OK, that is completely badass. I'll trade ya one o mine when it's done. Darn, that's cool. The water dropp effect is De Rigeur. Bob
-
Really? I'm no expert by any stretch so that's a bit of good news I suppose. I wasn't terribly worried but this keeps it legit. As a mechanic for over 20 years with 17 in one garage I'm an expert at several cars [read: Ford Taurus, Chevy Caprice, Dodge Stratus and Intrepid]. Not Baldwin camaros. Thanks George Bob

Now, while some may cry foul, I dislike the stripe on the Baldwin Motion cars. It's easy enough to mask off and not beyond me, but I just don't care for it. I do however ADORE the car on the AMT box, even though it has the stripe. Soooo, I'm doing it as a Baldwin with the "ficticious" stripe delete package LOL. I have it painted Testors Model Master Fathom green. Love that paint! Testors 1814 clear coat [3 coats], followed by a rub and buff of Novis. Clear coat was allowed to dry one full week before the buff. I'm going with semi gloss chin and rear spoiler as well as mirrors and hood. Interior is Buff and I'll be using the MCG detail set for it [when it ever gets here!] This is an EXCELLENT kit and AMT had some great kits out at this time, including the 67 Impala SS [which is next]. Commentary is most welcomed natch. Bob

2nd and 3rd Builds of 2010: Double Dragster Fiat & FED
Dragline replied to larman's topic in Model Cars
Both are excellent builds. Color is right on the money, but now I have to find ANOTHER color besides blue or red to paint mine! GarshDarnIt..... Bob -
What kind of music.....
Dragline replied to Hot_Rod_Bob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a monster .mp3 library but lately it's been old school Van Halen. Usually though it's pretty heavy stuff like Overkill, All That Remains. Then there are days when it's Beatles, 70's Jazz Fusion [Mahavishno Orchestra, Return To Forever, Brecker Bro's]. Depends on my mood but there are ALWAYS tunes on. Bob -
I agree with modelhut. The comfort zone is all warm and fuzzy, but not a place I stray from much myself. It's a great model and you should be proud. My paint is always flawed, and many here are as well. We acknowledge the flaw, then move on. By beginning the next project with the proviso that the previuos flaw will NOT be repeated [one hopes], and a new level is achieved. Albeit slowly at times. I see many great things about this truck, including the nicely painted bed. Not all paint jobs were meant for the cover of MCM I suppose. NONE of mine would make that illustrious tome. Every time I finish, or begin a build. I take time to consider what it is/was I wish/ed to achieve, then promptly miss it altogether most of the time. The idea is that there is a "next time". Keep the glue flowing. Bob

Without a doubt, the single largest piece of nonsense ever Shane.... Your Charlie Allen build is STUNNING. The Hollish Bros coupe is not only extremely well executed, but also [barring J Teresi] the single rarest car I have ever seen modeled. You have great talent my 1320 loving friend. Make no mistake about it. JT, Thank you once again. I didn't place this here to mine comment from those who already commended me on this build, but to show the MCM board at large what I have accomplished. You all have chimed in already and I appreciate the bonus comments here. Bob PS: As can be seen, I need more tire decals, as the right side is devoid of it. It'll have to wait till my decals arrive.. sigh..

I know those who haunt the Drag Racer category have seen this car in progress Ad Nauseum. But there are many here who don't comb that hallowed category, so I thought I'd share my completed version of this, my latest build. Quite a few sourced parts and items on this car so suffice it to say, it is not OOB. This was a fun build, and is convincing OOB, but I went kinda all out on this. I am pleased, and hope it amuses those of decidedly different tastes. Bob

Killer build Caine. Simply Killer! I'll bet if it was a real car it would be hard on driveline parts, it's such a beast! You are becoming an excellent modeler my friend. I see a difference from your first posts, to this current build. Your progress has been fun to watch. Bob Oh BTW, is that Testors Fathom Green? I just painted my Baldwin Motion Camaro with it and that looks like it. What great paint that Testors Laquer is.

CarazyAwesomwSuperPsychoCool. John, you bring exciting models to this forum always. This is no exception. Every detail is perfect. Bob -
VERY nice Len. Build more Drag cars buddy. Bob
-
Super nice Digger! I love the paint scheme and the fact that your buddy hooked you up so you could build the car you wanted. Love the SOHC too. Everything about is scream yesteryear. The way it's supposed to. Well done my 1320 loving Amigo! Bob

I don't normally respond to Asian builds of any kind but this is an OUTSTANDING build. It was a title that peaked my curiosity. Imaginative and well executed. Put the wheels you spoke of on it with some brake dust and call it a day. Well done. Bob
-
If I build mine soon I'll have this one to use as inspiration. It's that good. Well done, and I'll be picking up the Slixx decals as well. They look better than the kit ones for sure. Bob
-
Looks great to me Caine. Your stuff is always so cool. Where are the Firestones from? I've seen these on quie a few cars, but I've never seen these in a kit. Bob
-
Beautiful ressurection Curt. I built this many moons ago and I remember it being very tricky. I built this and the 6 wheeler and they both fell off the shelf when lightning hit my TV antennae believe it or not. Looks great. Bob
-
Looking good Charlie. Let's see your braid in action. I'l be buying some fairly soon. Bob
