That paint looks familiar. Metallic teal correct? It looks great. What brand please.
-
Yep... 16K. Not like that means much. At 8 it's already smooth.

Frankenstein

Frankie is looking good. Love the old kits. -
The Scaglietti paint is Duplicolor Perfect Match. An automotive lacquer for touch ups. It lays down nice, dries fast. But be wary of humidity. It is very sensitive to humidity and will blush easily. But clear coat makes it look great again once applied. Thanks

Convincing weathering and subtle touches. What a prize.

Great color scheme. That kit has rarely looked better.

Step by Step box-stock build of the Monogram Uncertain T:

For those with printers there is an .stl file for 42.00 on cults3d. It is exceptional quality and even a medium priced printer should be able to handle it. -
Bought the .stl for 42.00. my new printer (Got it 3 days ago) is still in the box. But it's going to get a workout soon enough.

An absolutely sick machine.

The flat black accents set it off nicely. You certainly can crank em out. I take forever, and some are still 1/2 built.

That was my goal all the way.

I know the feeling of putting a build back into the box several times over the course of years. Glad you persevered. -
20 Mule Team Borax
Dragline replied to Dragline's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
That was fantastic. Thanks Kit! When I think about how they did it back when. No tractors for help, and the mules were most likely better trained for it. These guys really did an outstanding job replicating and taking on such a crazy ride. Time marches on... I think those bells would have driven me nuts after one hour, let alone days. -

How The? Never mind. You pull this stuff off with casual aplomb Bob. No more words. You realize a kit could be made of this right? It would sell too! -
Japanese Medium Tank
Dragline replied to shoopdog's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Killer camo on this Shoop. I have built one tank and it was...bleh. If I need tips I know who to ask. -
Thanks all, it truly validates the choices I made. This is not an easy crowd to win. Ya know what it needs? A mirror! Just looked through a parts box and found a set on 70 Chevelle mirrors. I'm going to fit em and see. If not I have a mid 60's chrome GM mirror that'll do the trick.

You gotta build one Dave. Lots of parts in that thing eh? -
Thanks Ragtopman and Mike 1017. Rich, I've been a prancy pony guy since I was old enough to know what that meant. Ragtopman, for me the last manual pony the 550 Maranello is my personal favorite. As for the comparo. I didn't mean to at first. It all just started as I wrote.

These kits could not be more diametrically opposed. The vintage Monogram 308 GTB has about 50 parts if its lucky. The Revell 612 Scaglietti is probably over 100. I got these at a yard sale perhaps 2-3 years ago. The Monogram kit was open and it was only missing the mirror. It has no engine and the decal sheet consisted of the plate and Ferrari crest for the nose and fenders. Paint is non factory dark blue with dark brown leather interior. The Scaglietti kit was sealed and could not be more different. Full engine and suspension detail. Fairly large decal sheet with carbon fiber and under hood as well as Instruments and badging. Quite a contrast in approaches. Monogram kits of the era were designed to be completed by a below average to average modeler, while the Revell has the more advanced in mind. Both are 1/24 scale and take their place in my ever growing stable of prancing horse builds. Upon looking at my photos I see I have to dig out some of the polishing compound on the 612.

Another superb build. The skill level around here keeps rising.
