Tornadic storms are forecast for the Chicagoland area.
Rob Hall replied to Custom Hearse's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
From the headlines it looks like the Upper Midwest had a derecho yesterday...not a weather geek, but this is the first time I'd heard that term. -
Next project 90% done

I like that huge front bumper on the 1:1...one of the AMT kits had something like that, IIRC. -
That's pretty sad..so they have to dumb it down with the assumption that the masses are too stupid to distinguish between two different 2n1 kits.
-
That's assuming people actually read the box art. It is odd they don't call it out as a 2n1, with a picture of the stock version on an end or side panel... What about the S&M Cuda...is it a 2n1 or are not all of the stock parts included?

One thing I don't see in the pics--the chassis isn't tubbed? Stock?

Ya, did that this morning and will do again tonight. Had to have some pool service last week, so for the thread as to what I got new--I got a new pool backwash valve for my birthday..the service guy explained it, but I'm not totally clear on the pool mechanicals, but something w/ the pump backwash mechanism wasn't working well and green crud was accumulating. The water seems to be clear now.

Speaking of snow plows, I knew a guy in Denver that had a plow service with a couple neat vintage Dodge 4x4s...a '62 and a '69...and this was in '04-05 time frame. I think to offset the summer heat I'm going to watch some winter themed movies in the evenings...stuff with Arctic or Antarctic settings...

I believe these are the same as the kits in the AMT set I have. Ah, yes..I see the reference to that set in post #9.

It's a religious and political issue, though. Not relevant to this site.

Whatever..just your opinion..I'd rather see the Boulder-izing of the state than the scary Colorado Springs crowd dominating...

Colorado seems to be doing fine since I left in '08. My mayor became governor, the economy in the Denver area is still strong, lots of tech companies expanding...I keep getting recruiters contacting me all the time about gigs in the Denver/Boulder area..if I could move back now, I would, but I'm stuck here for the time being..

??? Didn't say anything about Las Vegas.. Ah, in reference to Agent G's post..Arizona, Nevada...same difference..

Best 1:24 or 1:25 Ford GT40 kit
Rob Hall replied to fitforbattle's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'd go with the Fujimi ones just because they are the easiest in my experience to find. I have the Monogram ex-slot car one, the Revell-Fujimi reboxes, a couple of the more recent Fujimis ('68 and '69 Gulf liveries) and a restorable IMC in my stash. MPC also made a 1/25th 1967 GT-40 Mark IV kit, the Mark IV was a very different looking car from the Mark I and II... -
Best 1:24 or 1:25 Ford GT40 kit
Rob Hall replied to fitforbattle's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Different decals for different liveries, and some differences for different years (add-on scoops, mostly). The Revell flat box kits--#2 blue & white, #98 white/red/black are reboxed Fujimi kits. -
Best 1:24 or 1:25 Ford GT40 kit
Rob Hall replied to fitforbattle's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not aware of any from Aoshima or Hasegawa. Fujimi made some very nice 1/24th ones (curbside) about 10-15 years ago. A couple of the Fujimi versions were reboxed as Revell kits about 25 years ago. There were others made by IMC (full detail, opening doors and engine compartment) and other companies (Monogram) 40+ years ago, but the Fujimi versions are still easy enough to find (at least on eBay). The Monogram one was a GT 40 Mark I (different nose) and a slot car originally, it was reissued maybe 15 years ago in a Revell-Monogram box. The Fujimi kits are GT-40 Mark IIs, as I believe the IMC kit was also. I have a an old box for an AMT one, not sure what that kit was originally, maybe a Heller. -
Will GM's problems ever end?
Rob Hall replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hmmm...so if the car hasn't been sold yet, then is it a precall? Haven't received any recall notices in the mail for the Cadillacs yet, but I'm sure I will sooner or later. Though if the '11 STS gets recalled, it won't be for the ignition issue since it has a push button start. The '00 DTS was in one of last week's recalls, IIRC. -
Will GM's problems ever end?
Rob Hall replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It seems the problem isn't that they had a defect, but that they apparently knew about it 9 years ago and didn't act then. The appearance of a coverup is the problem. But that's been said several times already in this thread. It's a question of corporate governance and accountability as much as it is about defective parts. -

Yeah, looking at my GM stock, I see the share price has gone down a bit in the last week. My Ford stock has gone down also, but my Daimler stock has gone up... -
Beautiful build, great photography
