  1. Maybe something German from the '50s-early '60s...there were a number of small German minicars then. Kind of like a Lloyd Kombi, but different (Lloyds had rear-hinged doors and a different rear bumper). Then again, it could be something created digitally for the ad.
  2. I just got some parts from Harts...less than a week after I ordered. Some nice Mopar parts.
  3. IIRC, the DoH 4dr was around 1980-81, the TJ Hooker kit around '83-84. I have both in my stash but can't easily get to them to check the dates on the boxes.
  4. It's neat they are using the Dart name rather than making up a new name...it fills the same niche the Dart did in the '60s-70s--economical compact 4dr sedan (which most Darts were). Imagine if the Focus was named the Falcon or the Cruze was named the Nova instead.
  5. Who knows what the real story is..certainly part of it is if you can't get teams interested, there's no point in participating. I've also read that Fiat doesn't have much interest in supporting NASCAR at the corporate level, that they want to concentrate racing $$$ on the Viper program... (the article on Auto Extremist yesterday alluded to this).
  6. I'd like to be the guy in the next lane in a Caddy V-series.. That's the kind of hot rod that gets my motor running. I have no interest in rust, I like all the creature comforts w/ power and handling.
  7. On a question like this, I turn to the cornerstone of Vulcan philosophy--Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. The car hobby is a broad spectrum with many niches, areas of interest and styles. Personally, I'm not into hot rods, rat rods, customs, lowriders ,donks, Pro Street, etc... my interest runs towards unrestored '60s-70s cars, restored '60s-70s cars, modern performance cars, Pro Touring style vintage cars, period street machine styles from the '60s-70s, vintage and modern racing cars. To each their own, it's all interesting on some level...
  8. Way cool...I love the look of Pro Stock cars of that era.
  9. That's unfortunate...the '13 Charger race car concept they showed off a while back looked great. But Penske was their only engine supplier and team (I assume this is across all 3 series, not just Sprint Cup?)
  10. The fascias are different from the BRZ, and the Aoshima one doesn't have an engine.
  11. I wonder if they will start adding these to hybrid and electric cars...they are very quiet. A Prius or Leaf with a rorty exhaust and loping idle soundtrack would be interesting..
  12. I've ordered a bunch of goodies the last few days, got a few eBay goodies in the mail Saturday and today--an unbuilt MPC '79 Volare Road Runner (I have both of the '77 kits, didn't have any later ones), some wheels from Scenes Unlimited, and some parts from Missing Link Resin (uptop for the AMT '59 Imperial, early '70s Torino/Mustang/Maverick hubcaps, and a Ford 6 cyl)..
  13. I don't know if it's configured that way or not. On other forums that use this software, if I follow a thread I don't have to post in it at all to get the email notifications..
  14. I don't get them either...the 'Follow this Topic' feature hasn't worked in a while...
  15. That would probably work..the most straight forward is the one from the AMT '69 Galaxie XL..drops right in.
  16. IIRC, the magazine reviews put the Miata ahead of the Solstice/Sky in comparisons...the Miata has always been a great driving little sports car.
  17. Speaking of movies, I went to see The Dark Knight Rises this past weekend--$13 for the ticket, $16 for popcorn, a coke, and Junior Mints. About 3 1/2 hours w/ the trailers..but I thoroughly enjoyed it...
  18. The Solstice and Sky had neat styling, but had a lot of shortcomings..horribly cheap interior materials, non-usable trunk, etc...
  19. Modeling is a very cheap hobby compared to other pastimes....model cars are generally a lot cheaper than military models, or R/C cars, or R/C airplanes...and definitely much cheaper than the other pastimes I've dabbled in over the years that require lots of expensive, specialized gear (mountain biking, skiing, golf)...
  20. Hard to pick one...I have a number of books that I like, incl. biographies and other books by auto industry people like Lee Iacocca, Bob Lutz, John DeLorean. Some racing-related books I particularly like are: 'Go Like Hell' about the Ford GT40 program Porsche 917: The Undercover Story Vic Elford: Reflections on a Golden Age The Unfair Advantage (Mark Donohue) Racing in the Rain: My Years with Brilliant Drivers, Legendary Sports Cars, and a Dedicated Team Senna vs Prost (and a 1/2 dozen other books on Senna) Currently reading 'The Limit: Life and Death in the 1961 Grand Prix Season'.... For picture books, I have a bunch of coffee-table books I like incl. one on the Otis Chandler muscle car collection, one on Boulevard Photographic (vintage car advertising), one on Lotus in F1 in the '60s, Alan de La Plante's book on Gilles Villeneuve (which has great pics of many drivers and cars of the late '70s-early '80s F1 era), etc..
  21. Those Canadian Meteors and Monarchs are pretty cool... I'd love to see a resin '70 Meteor Montcalm S-33 ht or convertible, or a LeMoyne 4dr sedan...
  22. I bought a couple later resin 6 cyl Chevy engines a few years ago IIRC from Missing Link Resin, don't know if they still cast them...plan to use 'em in a '69 Nova and a '69 Camaro.
  23. I'm looking forward to the Fujimi Lamborghini Reventon which should be out this month. Also looking forward to the RoG Ferrari 599 GTO and SV Aperta. For AMT reissues, I'm looking forward to the AMT '70s Ford van, '70 Ford Galaxie, and '69 Hurst Olds. For Revell new kits, looking forward to the '50 Olds, '57 Ford and '62 Corvette eventually. As far as the Revell reissues that are coming, I could see maybe getting the Buick GNX reissue (though I built the original back in the day, but have ideas for another), and maybe the Foose modified reissues.. Looking forward to seeing what gets announced at iHobby in a few months for 2013.
  24. He makes good stuff...I've bought a bunch of his wheels off of eBay, most recently some widened Mopar steel wheels. Didn't realize he had a website.
  25. Pretty cool...I've never built an Indy Car in that scale..
