IIRC, when I got my '87 Mustang GT back in the day, I got A/C, tilt wheel, cruise control, AM/FM/cassette (later replaced w/ an aftermarket CD player), power mirrors, windows, intermittent wipers, rear defroster as options. It has manual seats cloth seats, no cupholder (grrr). I still have the original window sticker somewhere.

Yeah, I can't see much demand for stripped down models. As far as Mustangs, the LX 5.0 was kind of like that back in the day. For me, I like my cars loaded with all the goodies.

Sharp build..love the color and the wheels. I have one of those in my to-build closet.

It's getting hotter in Texas!

I grew up RVing...as a kid, my folks always had motorhomes..we would take road trips in the summer and use it to drive between our Ohio home and our Florida home. Lots of fun, rolling down the highway in a Winnebago. -

Yeah, interesting climate on the Front Range..the weather can change very quickly. I lived in Colo Springs 5 years, Denver 6 years (still have a condo there). I remember the huge spring snows, and Denver occasionally would get a run of 100 degree days in July-August. I miss going up into the mountains on the weekends, they are ok in Az, but nicer in Co.. I've found interesting aspects of the various places I've lived over the years...miss the fall colors, rolling hills, great roads but not the humidity and brutal winters of E. Ohio; miss the ocean and breezes of the Florida Keys, but not the humidity and hurricanes; miss the college town environment of Ann Arbor, Mi, but not the humidity and gray winters; miss the big city ambience and amenities of Chicago but not the winters and summers -

AZ only gets the triple digits between May and Sept, with the worst being July and Aug, and it's a dry heat (was 115 w/ 15% humidity on Sunday). Tolerable, as long as you have good AC (in the office, car, home) and a pool (which I have). I'm still thinking about moving back to Denver full time, though...don't care for the desert that much, and Denver is a much more interesting city w/ a better job market for my thing. I don't mind a little snow. -
Lots of other changes besides the headlights and taillights, though..they added a character line down the sides, lowered the front edge of the hood and fenders, changed the hood, added the kick up in the door and rear quarter, de-emphasized the wheel arches, changed the fascias, decklid shape, etc. Only the roof was unchanged. This is similar to 1999 when the '94-98 was updated, every panel changed except for the roof ('99 changed the C-pillar also). Overall, I like the changes more or less---don't care for the black lower trim (looks cheap). I like the interior changes, the materials seem nicer in the '10, and SYNC is available. Looking forward to the '11 engine upgrades.

Was 115 here in Phoenix Sunday....15% humidity, though. It's a 'dry heat', they say. 115 is still hot, any way you look at it. But I grew up in E. Ohio and S. Florida, so I know humidity... Got to get back to Colorado some weekend soon, go up to the mountains. Last summer it was about as hot as this...about this time last year, my interior rear view mirror fell off from the heat. I had quite a weather shock last July also--went to my 20th HS reunion in Marathon, Florida---hot and humid, compared to AZ hot and dry. Fla was very uncomfortable! -

It's probably their most important program, so I don't think it will get killed. The Volt is GM's chance to have something green to compete with the Prius and Insight.. -

Supposedly, late next year for MY '11. Along with the Cruze (Cobalt replacement), and eventually the Orlando, Viva (Aveo replacement), and Spark are coming in the next year or two. I'm not into small FWD cars, so none of those appeal to me, but I find the rumor that the G8 will be rebadged as a Caprice more interesting... -
I've seen about a dozen '10 Camaros so far, a couple up close in parking lots, and a few on the freeways around the Phoenix area and San Diego over the last couple weeks, and a couple on dealers lots. Looks great in person, really like the design. I'm slowly warming to the '10 Mustang design, I like the interior update more than the exterior changes.

Late '70s Early '80s Ford LTD

Not really... I think the best bet would be to start with sheets of flat styrene. It would be a LOT of scratchbuilding, but their really isn't anything close in 1:24th/1:25th scale. Too bad one was never kitted, even a curbside, police car modelers would have liked one back in the '80s. -

Exactly... the billions wasted by the corrupt 'conservatives' over the last 8 years disgusts me. At least the current administration is trying to keep American jobs and invest in America w/ the stimulus plan, etc. -

Sounds like a lot of scratchbuilding...the '65 Lincoln is too big, the '77-78 Monaco completely different. It would be a complete scratchbuild, I'm afraid. -

Matchbox made about an '85 or so police car in 1:64th diecast. There was a large scale (1:16th or so) plastic radio controlled toy police car of one (maybe an '89-90 or so) that I remember at TRU 15 years ago or so. Don't recall seeing anything in 1:24th or 1:25th. -

No, I think that was a reference to Dubya, possibly the worst President in US history. -
I've looked at them a bit, the interior materials seem nicer than the '05-09 which had a lot of hard plastic.and Sync is now available. ...the styling is growing on me, though I think still prefer the '05-09 design as a whole, esp. the wheelwell arches. The black lower trim looks cheesy on lighter colored models, IMHO. After 5 years of the previous design, change was inevitable, though. From what I've read, though, the handling has been improved w/ the '10, and I'm looking forward to '11 and the engine upgrades.

Very cool..nice to see one of those built. I have a couple AMT Matadors and an MPC Pacer, but no Gremlins in my stash.

I've owned Ford, Chrysler (Jeep), Mercedes and BMW vehicles over the years. I have no problem supporting GM, they have a few models I like and will consider when I shop for my next cars. I would also consider another Ford, definitely a Mustang, having had 3 over the years. Though I also like the new Camaro and the Challenger. I'm looking forward to seeing how the next Grand Cherokee turns out for MY '11, I've been very happy w/ my '00. I'm a fan of and support all of the Detroit 3, never been drawn to Honda or Toyota, always found their products to be too dull and mainstream. -

I thought the current Jetta diesel was a 50 state model. -
I think I have at least one of every variation of the Revell '69--a couple issues of the Z-28, the SS convertible, the Pace Car convertible, a couple releases of the BM, the Yenko, etc. Great kit, with plenty of aftermarket hoods, etc available over the years. Also have the large scale Z-28. I have the snap kits also, nice to see. Has Revell done retro promos with this tooling? Haven't seen any, but then again, I haven't bought a new promo in years. As far as MPCs, I have only the molded in black '80s issue coupe and the molded in orange '80s issue convertible. The infamous ones with Pontiac engines. The black one is what was retooled I think into AMT's recent awful Fast and the Furious Yenko with a very strange roofline. I have the original issue AMT '69 Camaro ht, it's quite nice. Have to build it someday. I've always steered clear of the Monogram 1:24th '69 Camaros, they seem wierdly proportioned, just like their 1:32nd one. I'd love to see Revell extend their '69 tooling with a '67 or '68.

Firefox rocks...I've used it probably for 5 years or more now. The newest version improves the performance over the previous version (it could get slow with a lot of tabs open). I've been using Chrome alot since it first came out, though...I really like it, moreso than Firefox overall, though I still use Firefox when on my Mac. -
any musicians here?
Rob Hall replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I played the fluteiphone in elementary school music class. Does that count? Seriously, though, I'd like to take the time to learn guitar. My sister is the musical one in my family, she used to sing in a Fleetwood Mac tribute band w/ ex-husband #2--who taught her to play the guitar---and now has a Fender Telecaster and a Gibson Explorer and a Marshall stack. -

Please, no carburators..leave that technology in the 20th century. I'd love to see more diesels, but it seems only the Germans are committed to them in the NA market. Gas prices are low currently, so they aren't profitable here. GM has several cars currently that appeal to me, 1st and foremost the CTS (thinking about buying one for my next daily driver), the new Camaro, and the G8 (sadly, Pontiac is doomed).
