  1. Got to thinking about the old AMT '28 Sedan Doors wondered how different they were from the Revell '29 Pickup... so close: Only the window frames are going to be sliced up to fit the opening between the beltline and the top of the door openings. Saving the original doors for someone that might need them. Moving the beltline back and under the opera window adds a bit of detail copied from the '29 TNR... -KK
  2. Keep it up, Tim! You are a brain trust among model car builders! We will continue to applaud your builds as long as you keep posting them!! Sincerely, -KK
  3. Planning ahead has been a major part of the sedan conversion and construction, oh and reconstruction, into the '29 Ford extended cab configuration. Squaring everything up for the door windows, relocating the beltlines and looking forward to incorporating the roadster windshield frame under the soon to be narrowed AMT '29 Ford Woody/Pickup visor is in the offing... -KK
  4. Quick update... moving the beltline back as was done on the roadster:
  5. That's why we call it modeling! Not something they make plans for and even harder for some to wrap their heads around. Good work on both accounts, Brother!! -KK
  6. Heavy handed Chevy! Vett-O-Licious!! Mixing up the parts with a passion for the precision integration and fit is always fun to watch... -KK
  7. There's a lesson in just how kool picking the right parts from a deep array of kits can result in a period perfect era reflecting late '80s early '90s kustom hotrod! -KK
  8. Post Reconstruction... Work continues on the Build Back Better '29 Extended Cab Project dubbed XPU! -KK
  9. Some one less than a Gentleman built it! Someone a real racer drove it, more than once! And once he got it going straight hung on for dear life! A sand flee would be jealous as to how far and how fast this sand digger can cross the beach! Time spent collecting the parts verses the time to build it: 1:7... -KK
  10. '29 XPU Lots to do to make this look like it oughta! -KK
  11. Revised 1-1-2023 COMMON KIT The Common Kit for GSL-XXVIII is the Revell 1929 Ford Model A Roadster (kit #RMX854463). The intent of this Class is for each entrant to start with the same kit, then display their widest array of individual creativity, craftsmanship, building skills, and technical innovations. The entrant may build the entry in any style or vintage. Regardless, all entered models must be based upon the parts from this kit. Entrants may also: i) swap parts from any other kit(s); ii) use any aftermarket parts; iii) use any body from another 1929 Ford kit but may not use a complete aftermarket resin body; and iv) use any building materials, techniques or technologies without restriction. Here your answer, Brother! -KK
  12. We all need encouragement from time to time! Life has its way of interrupting our collective hobby!! Sometimes the transition from one media to another can reveal new and greatly appreciated audience's... here on the forum what you build is more important than the builder that built it! That's saying something, too!! Your two sedans are examples of what can be done when you create something outside of the box! Great work and fun seeing your builds here!! -KK
  13. Well thought out and executed! One of my favorite Ford roadster pickups! Using the 1/24 scale deuce affords one the added dimension to craft handmade parts to pull off such a good looking '32 Ford RPU! Bet we could do a thread on these great looking RPUs! -KK
  14. '28 FORD XPU - Back to the Future '29 XPU! Transformation in more than name only is happening! Grafting the new Revell '29 roadster kowl & doors with the kut-down very old AMT '28 sedan body has had its challenges!! The top is wider and requires a bit of narrowing: Opening the windshield height: Pie kuts will keep the kab width at the rear close to the width of the bed that will soon follow behind it! Slow progress incurring resistance while experiencing casualties along the way: Getting serious now! The old kowl is about to fall by the wayside... Internal bracing being klipt away while keeping fingers krossed that the seams seem strong enough to hold the skin & bones together... There goes the old sedan kowl... More yet to remove... All kleaned out, kut up & broken... let the age change continue! Wait! What about that belt line? Why not incorporate the roadster belt line in a different way? The plan is to extend it under the opera window... 'bout wore the numbers off of my scale checking & rechecking the measures... Opps! Oh well... just another Thursday! Back to the Future! Please welkome the '29 XPU in the making!! Kuts! Kramps! & Kalm Knerves! Keeping Kool Kan Matter! -KK
  15. Something that I would imaging coming from K&R Kustoms+Rods, right RRR?!. Really edgy, in an old-style rear engine way, where brakes matter! -KK
  16. If you decide setting it on the '29 Common Kit table with or without an entry slip, there are other builds, that have also just passed muster, that will be alongside your '29! As far as what is on my bench... they'll be there even if unfinished. ATL -KK
  17. Thought of you, too! Your latest '29 RPU is now a contender for the Common Kit class! Right? I'm still not sure the '28 Sedan body won't pass muster, yet arguably the '28 & '29 Ford bodies were exactly the same in real life. Grafting the '29 Roadster cowl & doors may allow the XPU a place on the table or at least it & the antique tag-along will make a good display platform for the '29 TNR! Fingers crossed... -KK
  18. That last 4 inches of drop you did out back is where it's got to be... how's the tire clearance? -KK
  19. Just think what else is out there that fits the intent of this thread! The interior panels are just the ticket! There may by other roadster pickups out there waiting to be added here! -KK
  20. Happy New Year! Universal email dated 1/1/2023 Revised: COMMON KIT The Common Kit for GSL-XXVIII is the Revell 1929 Ford Model A Roadster (kit #RMX854463). This announcement from the GSL Board of Trustees changes the direction of the '28 Ford XPU. Next up the '28 changes to a '29 and loses a year off its waist and narrowing the brow over the kowl won't hurt it's looks at all! -KK

Doesn't really make a difference in the direction of the '29 TNR but will call for some changes on the tow vehicle! -KK

See you there in May... a week before my 75th birthday! -KK Life is good!
  23. As you envisioned... your roadster is going to be the spitting image of Fat Jack's '29! -KK
