  1. Here are some more shots. http:// http:// http:// http:// I also detail painted the hub cap crests. http:// Later-
  2. I finally finished this one. The paint job gave me fits. I had to strip the body and hood multiple times and spent over $ 45 in Tamiya paint, not to mention 3 cans of clear. I kept getting a reaction from the clearcoat so I would sand it out and then touch up the paint and reclear. Within a week I would get bubbling under the touch up spots from the coats below. So then I would strip and start over. Then at one point I dropped the freshly painted body off of the paint stand. Anywhoo.... it was a challenge. Here are the photos. http:// http:// http:// I heavily modified the suspension. I chopped the top, pancaked the hood, molded in the fender skirts from a 36 Ford, and molded in the hood vents from the Rat Roaster kit for the taillights. http:// Later-
  3. Well, I finished this one today but because Photobucket has been a PITA today and will not upload my photos, I have nothing to show. Has anyone else experienced problems.with PB today giving errors when.loading photos? I have been trying since noon today. It continues to tell me that my photos are backed up but won't upload any new ones. Later-
  4. That turned out fantastic Todd! Great job on a different subject. I'll have to check out Star Models. What tires did you use? They look perfect for a custom of that year. What, if any problems did you have with meshing the resin with the kit? Later-
  5. Thanks for all the nice comments. I used the Revell Pro Street kit as a starting point. As a filler I use Bondo brand Glazing putty in the squeeze tube. I have a posting in the Wanted section for some Flame Arrester style air cleaners (I think that is what they are). If anybody has what I have pictured (or something similar), I would love to trade for them. Later-
  6. I have been working on this one for quite some time now and the finish line is within sight. I have a terrible habit of starting a WIP and then something goes wrong or I lose interest. I told myself that I was not going to lose interest in this one and that I would finish it. Since that was the case, it has fought me with the paint job the entire time. I have spent over $40 buying 6 cans of Tamiya paint to get this painted. I have stripped the body three times and the hood 5 times! This time, however, I think I have won out. Here is my inspiration. http:// I chopped the top, pancaked the hood, molded in the hood vents from the Rat Roaster kit as taillights and installed skirts from the 36 Ford to name a few of the mods. Here are the progress photos I took along the way. http:// http:// http:// http:// http://http:// http:// Hopefully I will be able to get the interior and chassis in and the mirrors and door handles on by this weekend and FINALLY wrap this one up. Comments and criticisms welcomed. Later-
  7. Had a great trade with Gardnerpag44 for the second time. Kit looked great! I was a little slow on my end due to work demands. Thanks Paul. Would do it again anytime. Later-
  8. Wow! Stunning paint work. It's turning out to be a beauty. Later-
  9. It looks amazing! Great modifications. Later-
  10. Thanks for the comparisons. I will have to compare the original that you show to the one that I picked up recently. Given the ages of the other built up kits that i got it with I believe that mine is from the 60's. Later-
  11. I LOVE IT!! The work you did is outstanding and top notch. I enjoyed following along. I am still trying to get my chopped.top green one finished. I've had multiple paint issues with it. I'm finally down to putting the last coats of clear on. Later-
  12. Jim, Thanks for the info on the primer. The difference in white or grey would make a big difference in the final color. Later-
  13. Thanks. He had two of the Coca Cola 50 Chevy pickups for the same price that I am now wishing I had picked up too. Later-
  14. I went to the Good Guys car show today and found these for $5.00 each. Both still sealed inside. http:// http:// Later-
  15. That looks great! Love the color. I have some of that HOK Cocoa Pearl. Nice to see what it looks like on a body. I may have to do my 40 Ford in it. Later-
  16. That turned out great. The paint looks perfect. Good that you finally got back to it. Later-
  17. It looks fantastic! I like that you did the main body weathering with a decal. Cool little build. Later-
  18. That is a gorgeous color. Very nice work so far. Later-
  19. Great work. Good looking interior. So....you have a 1:1??? Any photos? I had a friend who had one and I tried to talk him out if it a few years ago. No sale. Later-
  20. Very nice custom. The hard work shows. I like what you have done, but like Mike, to me the headlights are a bit oversized. All in all, a very ambitious project that turned out excellent. Later-
  21. Welcome to the forum! Not a bad looking build at all. I'd say you did fairly well for your first build. You got all of the basics down. A clean looking car with no major (or glaring) mistakes that I can see. Great job. You should enjoy the RX-7. I just recently finished a Aoshima RX-7 myself. If the Tamiya is anything like it, it will go together quite well. Where are you located in Idaho? I am just across the border in Eastern Washington about 30 miles north of Spokane on Hywy 2. Later-
  22. Picked these up yesterday. My wife and i cut them off of a 53 GMC pickup in a farmer's yard. These were the only thing on the cab that was still undamaged. I figured they will make some nice yard art. Model related? Let's just say that they are reference material for my next weathered build. Lol! http:// Later-
  23. Beautiful build. That color suits it nicely but is not one you see on builds often. Great choice. Later-
  24. Thank you David, Nick and Chris. Later-
