  1. I was still 7 years from daylight, but I went to EXPO 86 in Vancouver. As a 17 year old I was amazed by the Pontiac Banshee and other futuristic cars. Seems to me there was also a Corvette concept with the Banshee. I also remember looking at the Highway 86 display and thinking "Huh?????" "That's cool, I guess." Later-
  2. Your front tires are too small. You need 23's all around if you are using Pegasus wheels. If I'm not mistaken Pegasus did some 23's with a taller side wall. I'd try those on the back and the ones you have on the rear in the front. Later-
  3. Nice so far. Given the two choices I'd go with the mags. How about the steel wheels from the 36 Ford with the rear wheels widened a bit using a sleeve in the front? Later-
  4. Nice work so far. I remember grinding out the back of that grille about 20 years ago. Not hard to do. The 41 Chevy grille I just did a couple of months ago was a BEAR! Are you scratchbuilding the bed and boom? I had reference pics years ago of a similar set up on a 51 Chevy in Alaska. I should have built it. Nice project. I'll be watching. Later-
  5. Charlie and Ace- Thanks for all of the interest. I really think that a straight eight would look best in here. I don't know what the Auburn had as far as looks and parts count from the kit. I'll PM you, Ace for the engines. I'll have to look and see what Ken has available. As far as wheel and stance goes, I was just thinking last night about starting on the chassis and suspension. I'm not sure what I will be using but it will probably come from my large parts box. I'd better start digging. Later-
  6. Got a bit done tonight. I chopped the top with a bit of rake. I cleaned up the holes in the cab and after trying a few times unsuccessfully to fill in the sides of the hood to mate up with the fenders I cut the hood sides off. I cut them with a curve to follow the shape of the fenders. Lastly I began the work of connecting the fenders together under the grille. It is going to be a chore , but I am going to make my own grille. I tried the grille from the Wagonrod kit out of curiosity. Not even close. I bought some thin steel rod yesterday. I may try using that with some brass strips. We will see. Later-
  7. That is going to be cool! I will be watching this build. Later-
  8. Spent some time last night working on this. I am planning to use the V8 engine from the Revell 32 five window but I can't find a dual carb intake to fit it. Anyone know of one that will fit? I reworked the seat pattern to replicate the one in the mag. It was a slow progress night last night. Later-
  9. Charlie- The more I look at that Graham supercharger the more I like that idea. I had planned some sort of straight eight in it since the bay is so long and narrow. I wanted to find one for trade (the Auburn Speedster is the only one that comes to mind in kit form). Perhaps I can scratchbuild a close approximation to the supercharger from those pictures you shared. Thanks. Anyone have any leads on a straight eight or have a built up Auburn that they want to swap? I have been trying to fill in all of the gaps in the fit between the hood and fenders and I have the gash at the rear of the cab roughly filled in so far. Later-
  10. That Lago may be a bad kit but you can't beat the box art. Too cool. Later-
  11. Nice work so far. I remember when you were working on this last. That TS-11 looks like it would be the perfect color for my 40 Ford I'm working on. Later-
  12. I got the suspension adjusted today. It will sit just a hair lower once it is glued. Right now the gaps in the chassis and floor aren't tight. I also got a quick coat of primer on to check the work. Later-
  13. Duntov- Thanks for the great comment. I'd be excited if it was compared to the Matranga Merc. In my opinion there is no better looking car from that time period. Later-
  14. I like that one too, Erik. But, then again, I always liked the 67-70 body styles much more than the Bandit body style. Later-
  15. That looks like a good start to s great rebuild. Keep us posted. Later-
  16. Doug- Not a bad idea with the front wrap around. I like that look. I really wanted the front fenders to be very pronounced. I also am sure there will be a chop top with a slight rake. Last night I did a little work on filling the gaps in the hood. We will see where this one goes. Later-
  17. I am pretty sure that they are Auburn fenders. As I was looking at them last night I could see the exhaust holes had been plugged. That idea of the lobster tail sounds funny. I had also thought last night that the fenders looked like claws. Thanks for the comments guys. I'm not sure how much steady progress I will make on this. It just started on a whim. Later-
  18. Thanks for the great comments. It's very encouraging. James- the skirts will be flush mounted but will have the outline scribed in. Later-
  19. Dwayne- Now, that looks nice. I like that one much better. But then, I always did like the white and blue paint scheme. Later-
  20. Doug- Do you know where the old movie theater across the road from Safeway on Highway 2 is? The one where they do the motorcycle rider training? I think it was called the Newport theater. It is on the north side of Spokane on Highway 2 just before Nevada Street. Where are you located? Later-
  21. I didn't ask what the price was. I'm curious too, though. I'll have to swing by again and ask. Later-
  22. Sorry, I must have forgotten to post the next photos. Make more sense now?? I'm such an idiot sometimes. Must be all the glue fumes. Later-
  23. Very nice job on your 61. Beautiful colors. Later-
  24. I found these fenders in the bottom of a LARGE box of parts I got from a friend and thought they would be good for a build. So I dug out more spare parts from the same box and here is what I have after about 30 minutes. Now to find the rest of it and come up with a plan. Possibly the grille from something like the Testors Coupster kits. I'm thinking a heavily modified show truck. What do you see? Give me some ideas. Later-
  25. I spotted this at one of those "Come to Your Town Car Lots". You know the type that move into a vacant lot in town for a few weeks to a couple of months to sell cars and then are gone. The windshield flyer says it is a 2011 Camaro. http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr225/Modlbldr/IMAG0173-1.jpg http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr225/Modlbldr/IMAG0173.jpg http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr225/Modlbldr/IMAG0174-1.jpg They had it parked next to a black Camaro for comparison. Too bad it was never a production car. Later-
