  1. Glad to see that you just put it back together and didn't change anything. What a great time capsule. Later-
  2. Thanks Dominik. I need to get back to work on it. I have the chassis done, with the exception of the exhaust and I have the conversion done to the door panels. The rear bumper was a bear. It is a Modelhaus casting that was beautiful. However, being a Caddy bumper it needed to be narrowed considerably and reshaped to fit the body. That took a week or two of off and on again work. I really love this kit. It is well engineered and practically falls together. I want to get a couple more for one more extreme custom and perhaps a mild custom. Later-
  3. Here is the start of mine. And what I am going for. Later-
  4. The look I'm going for......current mock up. I will be getting more work done on this one on Monday. Stay tuned. Later-
  5. It's good to see new life on this CBP. Welcome. I've gotten a bit of progress done on my 41 Chevy pickup. I am surprised and disappointed that I have not been able to find any pictures of 41 Chevy lowrider pickups. Anywho, I got some fenderskirts made from successively smaller pieces of flat styrene and putty to get that nice curved shape. I also got some time tonight after priming my 50 Ford sedan to make a front bumper for this that is more fitting of a lowrider. I added a guard and some driving lights that I will be giving some yellow lenses. I got some of the chrome engine parts from the Galaxie 48 Chevy kit from a good friend to liven up the engine bay. This thing will now be triple carbed. I still need to finish cleaning up the opening of the grille bars. I have been saving that job as filler for when I am sitting and doing nothing else. Later-
  6. I like it. You did a great job on it. That engine looks like it could have some potential in a street rod build. Some of these old show rods were neat little kits. Later-
  7. I'm not thinking that he meant to bash you. Perhaps he just didn't read your "epic fail" post and was actually saying that you were doing a good job. Sorry to hear that your clear coat crazed. Don't let that stop you. You were on your way to a fine custom. I like the color of your engine block. Later-
  8. Looking good. I like the colors and really like the idea of the floral print that you posted. Perhaps not for this build, but it would work out cool for an interior pattern. Keep it up. It's looking great. Later-
  9. I, too, am looking forward to the Ford pickup (or just about any older bodystyle pickup--how about 4x4 options) I seem to recall mention of a 49 Merc Woody?? Later-
  10. I love what you've done with this build. Keep it up. Later-
  11. I've been busy for the last month studying for a couple of tests for a new position at work. I still have managed to get some small updates done. I made some fender skirts but still need to build them up for a bit of curve. I also finished off the rear of the frame to create a mount for the bumper mounts. I still have to finish opening up the grille that I started before the month of studying. BTW- My boss just walked in and offered me the new position!!!!! Things are looking up. Now back to finishing the grille. Later-
  12. My disaster story is a bit different, but I still consider it a disaster. Shortly before I moved from Alaska to Washington I started a 06 Mustang kit. As always I did custom work on it. I had sectioned the body, made side window scoops, customized the stock mirrors and made a hood bulge for it. I got it to the stage of the chassis and exhaust completed. I had put aftermarket rotors and tires and wheels on it. I spent a couple of days spraying it with Tamiya Mica blue and it was beautiful! My best paint job yet. Two days before we moved I carefully wired the body into a plastic display case and wired that onto a heavy steel plate so that it wouldn't move. I put it in the back window of my car, knowing the heat would not get high enough to affect it. I spent three days driving it down from Alaska and I checked on it almost every stop. It bride just fine. Once I arrived in Washington I placed the entire setup in my new hobby room in the back of my garage and left it for two months. Once I finally got time to get back to it the body was completely warped. I was devestated! My wife jokingly said that it looked like a teenager had run it into a telephone pole. I don't know whether it got too hot in my new hobby room while sitting in there or the fumes from the super glue I used to do the custom work with got trapped in the display case or what. I never got back to finishing it with a new body. When I get home tonight I'll post a pic of the damaged body. Later-
  13. That has a great look to it. What VW kit did you start with? Did you have to make the back cab or use the rear of the body as the back of the cab? Later-
  14. Thanks. It has been fun, so far. It is the kit engine but I am thinking of making it a dual carb setup. Later-
  15. Here is a build I started recently for the Lowrider CBP. I have not seen any photos of a lowrider 41 Chevy pickup but I have had this idea in my brain for quite some time. I picture it in various shades of blue with silver and copper. So far I have cut up a 70 Monte Carlo lowrider frame to fit. I have raised the bed floor and molded in the tops of 60 Impala wheel wells for tire clearance. I also had to mold in a tranny tunnel made from pop can aluminum to cleat the tranny. I have a bit more progress started, like opening the hood side vents and grille and the beginnings of a sun visor for the cab. I'll post my updates here as well as the Lowrider CBP. There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in that CBP yet, but I'm hoping it will get going. This is my first Lowrider build and I am excited about it. I will be looking for pointers from others. Later-
  16. I began tonight to open up the grille while sitting with the family and watching a movie. I also added a few structural supports to the frame a couple of days ago. So I have been slowly making progress as and will have some pics to post tomorrow. I spent an hour today looking at photos online of online 6's in lowriders to see how I want to detail mine. I think I am going to go with a dual carb setup. It amazes me that I have not found ONE photo of a lowrider 41 Chevy pickup. Got any? Later-
  17. I have one of these too that my sister-in-law picked up at a yard sale and gave to me. Mine must have gotten wet at one point. It has some mold stains on the side panels. I need to see if I can find something to clean it with that won't hurt the fabric. Later-
  18. Wow! That must have been a labor of love because of the quality of that kit. Nice job. Later-
  19. Nice looking build. I see that you filled the hood side vents or were those resin also? I am working on one of these right now under the Lowrider CBP. Later-
  20. Chris- Looks great. I like that kit a lot. I think it would look good in a dark maroon. Are you using spray cans or an air brush? Later-
  21. Here is what I got done this week and a bit today. I cut the tops of the rear wheel wells off of a 60 Impala chassis and molded them into the bed. The floor of the bed has been raised quite a bit. I notched the tranny cross member and sanded a little thickness off of the part under the oil pan (my brain just froze up on the name) to lower the engine about a 16th so that my tranny tunnel wouldn't need to be as tall. Lastly, I made a tranny tunnel out of some pop can aluminum. I'm home now and my wife is sick so I may get a chance to do some more work tonight. Let me know what you think. Remember, this is my first lowrider so I may need some guidance. Later-
  22. Are you kidding? I don't think I could count on both hands the projects I have that are over ten years old. I have some I started when I was newly married....24 years ago. I'll post a few here when I can get to it. Most here have seen them already, but maybe not. Later-
  23. I see nothing to be unkind about. Great looking build and color combo. Later-
