  1. Looking great so far. Seems to be a few of us working on 51 Chevies right now. I'm working on the Fleetline. Many mods on it. Any ideas on your taillights? I like your chop and 57 extensions. I'll ne watching. Later-
  2. Sounds good. Yeah, I see the rear fender openings now. I overlooked them the first time. Are you going for a look like the box art? Later-
  3. I don't know if I'd paint the top black. I like it as is. Besides, with the windshield frame and mouldings around the side windows painted black it may be enough. That is, I assume the side windows have black mouldings around them? Also the headlights and taillights will help break up all of the green with a bit of contrast. I like the grey stripe. Later-
  4. Beautiful paint. I love the tone of that red over the Silver leaf. I painted an 06 Mustang in Tamiya Mica blue years ago. I have some Silver leaf too. I may have to do a spoon test to see what the Mica blue looks like over the Silver leaf. Looks like I may have found my Candy blue for the accent color of my 41 Chevy lowrider pickup. Later-
  5. Better get busy. You've got a long ways to go from there. lol. Are you chopping it or anything? Here's my "in progress" 50 Sedan. Later-
  6. A beautiful car for sure. Great work so far. There is an auction place in Spokane that has a 60 Starliner in their lot. I've been wanting to stop and take photos for a while now. Later-
  7. Man, would I love to have one of those. I never knew they did them in red. So, how long ago did you buy this? BTW- I understand the idea of doing a black frame, but my two cents is with the candy red frame for sure. Later-
  8. Great looking build. These years of Vettes are my second favorite behind the 63-67's. Yours is coming out fantastic. I can't wait to see it with the paint you have planned. You wouldn't happen to know the kit number or can you post a photo of the Revell reissue of Monogram's Pro Modeler kit? I'm interested in it but can't picture it. Later-
  9. Codie- That has a great look to it. I can't wait to see how the lines flow when the paint gets on it. Keep it up. Later-
  10. My first glimpse was many years ago when I noticed the centerfold in Playboy was a few years younger than me. I distinctly remember that moment and thinking "it's all down hill from here". I gave up looking at them not too long afterwards. When my daughter turned 21 a couple of years ago she asked me "You know what this means Dad?" I said "No. What?" She said "This means you're getting old." I told her "No, this means you're getting old." (that shut her up) It amazes me at times to think about how much time has passed from certain events in my life. I find myself saying in my mind "Was it really that long ago since...??" (I'm actually thinking of a few events as I am typing this.) In all seriousness though, I have noticed over the last couple of years I seem to have lost some of the strength I used to have. To top it off I am finding it much easier to work on models if I am wearing my wife's readers. Later-
  11. Great looking build. Can't wait to see the finished product. I like it better with the side trim on it, unlike the 1:1 pictured. Does anyone have a link to Tom's site with current products? I couldn't find this one on his Fotki page. Later-
  12. Nice ride! What kit are the tires, wheels and rings from? Later-
  13. Yeah, I wish it were mine. I saw it at the grocery store. It took up the entire rear seat of the Dodge crewcab. Anywho- I have been plugging along on this and another project since not being able to upload pictures through PhotoBucket. I got the door panels to the primer stage. Nothing exciting there. I added a styrene strip to the area behind the rear bumper to give the three pieces something to attach to. Fitting the rear bumper is proving to be a real chore. the wrap around portions don't fit the profile of the rear fenders so I had to make a relief cut on the bumper to tuck it in.Fits much better now. I have done quite a bit of work shaping the lower rear fender and taillight areas and about have it down. I got the driver's side trim on and havena bit of cleaning to do there. I made some molds from black RTV of the molded in body chrome and now I need to mix up some 5 minute epoxy to make the chrome to extend on the rear fender extentions. Lastly, I rounded the rear hood corners. I've been looking for little things to do to avoid having to chop the top yet. I want that to be the last thing I do. Now for a few photos of my newest project that I'm using as fill in. Copying some ideas from this 1:1 for my 51 Fleetline. Later-
  14. WhooHooo!! It's working again! Stand by for update. Later-
  15. Quick test of PhotoBucket. It hasn't been letting me upload photos for a few weeks. Later-
  16. I like it so far. I'll check back on your progress. What do you use to thin your nail polish to spray it? Later-
  17. Very nice job. I was wondering about the speakers in the doors. Are those kit pieces or aftermarket? Later-
  18. Congratulations. I just got one in a trade a few months ago and am waiting to build it. It's been said before but I'll say it again--We need a new tool 67 and 68 Camaro kit!!!! Later-
  19. X2!! Thinking Rootbeer with Champagne Gold roof. Later-

    5 Day Rebuild

Looks great. Nice save. I take it that last photo being blurry is when she smacked you upside the head? Later-
  21. I don't know much about it, but it's COOL and I want it! There are a couple of old ones around here that I neet to get photos of. I stopped by a guy's house about a year ago and in his lean to next to the house was a REO firetruck. Now I can't remember where!!!! Later-
  22. First of all, thanks for all of the input. I appreciate it. I don't leave my foot on the clutch pedal when not using it and I try to let the clutch pedal out completely as soon as the car begins moving. With that being said, my interpretation of what I am doing could be mistaken too. It's like anything else, I may not be paying attention to certain bad habits at all times. Anywho- I have no idea what parts were replaced or repaired when my friend had the clutch replaced last time and I am sure that "high quality" parts were not used. Still, I have never gotten the mileage that you guys are quoting from a clutch. As far as symptoms go I have had to let the pedal out quite a distance before it engages for some time now. Not all the way yet, but at least half way. What it is doing now is sputtering a bit at take off ( like it is slipping) and when cruising along and I head up a hill or try to give it a bit more gas it begins ti sputter again. I had thought that it might be a fuel problem because it reacts as my older cars with carbs used to when the secondaries would kick in. I told another friend about this reaction and he told me that it sounded like the clutch was slipping---which led me ti this conclusion that I might need a new clutch already. What do you say? Later-
  23. I've put 26,000 on this one. My wife may be right.-- That last sentence was difficult to type. LOL! I must be doing something wrong. Later-
  24. Just curious how many miles of driving that you get before needing to get your clutch changed. I ask this because I need a new one in my 97 Escort and my wife has always accused me of being hard on one. I don't see where I drive any differently than most others. If I am gard on one I need to figure out what I am doing wrong. I will eventually fess up to how many miles I have put on this clutch. In my defense however, I was given this car by a friend and when he gave it to me he said that it had a new clutch. He did not tell me how many miles he had put on the new clutch. Anywho- what is your average clutch life? Later-
  25. Beautiful work. Nice paint. I'd like to see some more pics of it. I am loving this kit and I have one in progress and two more in planning stages. Later-
