I remember those. One of the hs in Anchorage had the Caddy and T-Bird years ago. I should have picked them up back then. I'd love to get the Caddy now. Later-

I'm with you. I love the build but can't handle the theme. I'd rather see it built as a hotel shuttle car from the 50's. Later-

Keeping an eye on this one. I want to see how much it takes to convert it since I've akways thought about doing the same. Later-

Nice work so far. Keep it up. BTW, do you have any info and box photos on that promo? I take it that it was a diecast. I'd like to pick one up and need any info on it. Later-

Nice work so far. I like the work you did on the cammer's front cover. I did some similar work on mine for my 53 Ford but didn't go as far as you. Looking at yours I may gi back and redo mine using yours as a reference. Also, great work on those front body mounts. Too bad they won't be able to be seen clearly in the end. Later-

SMP '59 Corvette 3-in-1 Kit ala Watson, Paint Phase 2!

Yes, I also want to know what you used for the white to get it to cover the red so well. Later- -
Thanks for the reply. The paint is really beautiful. It's amazing how the silver can really make a paint pop like that. I'm going to try it by using Tamiya Silver leaf under Tamiya Mica blue aftet looking at this build and another where they used Mica red. Thanks again. Later-

Looking good. Somewhere on my camera I have photos of two VW's with 454's that I saw at a car show. Later-

Great looking build! What paint is that and how did you apply it. It looks electric! Later-

Rod- With a build like that you can keep posting it....and I'll keep looking. Many cool ideas on your truck that I am logging away in my pea brain for future use. Thanks for (re)posting. Later-

Looking great so far. Seems to be a few of us working on 51 Chevies right now. I'm working on the Fleetline. Many mods on it. Any ideas on your taillights? I like your chop and 57 extensions. I'll ne watching. Later-

Sounds good. Yeah, I see the rear fender openings now. I overlooked them the first time. Are you going for a look like the box art? Later-

I don't know if I'd paint the top black. I like it as is. Besides, with the windshield frame and mouldings around the side windows painted black it may be enough. That is, I assume the side windows have black mouldings around them? Also the headlights and taillights will help break up all of the green with a bit of contrast. I like the grey stripe. Later-

SMP '59 Corvette 3-in-1 Kit ala Watson, Paint Phase 2!

Beautiful paint. I love the tone of that red over the Silver leaf. I painted an 06 Mustang in Tamiya Mica blue years ago. I have some Silver leaf too. I may have to do a spoon test to see what the Mica blue looks like over the Silver leaf. Looks like I may have found my Candy blue for the accent color of my 41 Chevy lowrider pickup. Later- -
Better get busy. You've got a long ways to go from there. lol. Are you chopping it or anything? Here's my "in progress" 50 Sedan. Later-

A beautiful car for sure. Great work so far. There is an auction place in Spokane that has a 60 Starliner in their lot. I've been wanting to stop and take photos for a while now. Later-

Man, would I love to have one of those. I never knew they did them in red. So, how long ago did you buy this? BTW- I understand the idea of doing a black frame, but my two cents is with the candy red frame for sure. Later-

Great looking build. These years of Vettes are my second favorite behind the 63-67's. Yours is coming out fantastic. I can't wait to see it with the paint you have planned. You wouldn't happen to know the kit number or can you post a photo of the Revell reissue of Monogram's Pro Modeler kit? I'm interested in it but can't picture it. Later- -
Codie- That has a great look to it. I can't wait to see how the lines flow when the paint gets on it. Keep it up. Later-

My first glimpse was many years ago when I noticed the centerfold in Playboy was a few years younger than me. I distinctly remember that moment and thinking "it's all down hill from here". I gave up looking at them not too long afterwards. When my daughter turned 21 a couple of years ago she asked me "You know what this means Dad?" I said "No. What?" She said "This means you're getting old." I told her "No, this means you're getting old." (that shut her up) It amazes me at times to think about how much time has passed from certain events in my life. I find myself saying in my mind "Was it really that long ago since...??" (I'm actually thinking of a few events as I am typing this.) In all seriousness though, I have noticed over the last couple of years I seem to have lost some of the strength I used to have. To top it off I am finding it much easier to work on models if I am wearing my wife's readers. Later-

Great looking build. Can't wait to see the finished product. I like it better with the side trim on it, unlike the 1:1 pictured. Does anyone have a link to Tom's site with current products? I couldn't find this one on his Fotki page. Later-

1950 oldsmobile custom finished! 02/1/2013

Nice ride! What kit are the tires, wheels and rings from? Later- -
Yeah, I wish it were mine. I saw it at the grocery store. It took up the entire rear seat of the Dodge crewcab. Anywho- I have been plugging along on this and another project since not being able to upload pictures through PhotoBucket. I got the door panels to the primer stage. Nothing exciting there. I added a styrene strip to the area behind the rear bumper to give the three pieces something to attach to. Fitting the rear bumper is proving to be a real chore. the wrap around portions don't fit the profile of the rear fenders so I had to make a relief cut on the bumper to tuck it in.Fits much better now. I have done quite a bit of work shaping the lower rear fender and taillight areas and about have it down. I got the driver's side trim on and havena bit of cleaning to do there. I made some molds from black RTV of the molded in body chrome and now I need to mix up some 5 minute epoxy to make the chrome to extend on the rear fender extentions. Lastly, I rounded the rear hood corners. I've been looking for little things to do to avoid having to chop the top yet. I want that to be the last thing I do. Now for a few photos of my newest project that I'm using as fill in. Copying some ideas from this 1:1 for my 51 Fleetline. Later-
