  1. The AMT one is a 66, not sure if MPC is the same car. The Revell is a 67.
  2. http://lemans.slotracing.free.fr/images/Alpine/Alpine-Renault--A210.jpg Yes Tommy, Lemans in 1967
  3. Nice Buick. I believe it got nicknamed The Bug. I knew of the Rambler in the series but never knew of the Olds...looks like I'm going swap meet hunting again. I built the Buick and Rambler when i was a kid.
  4. Thanks everyone. I too have built Tamiya's Alpine. basically the same layout and engine. They are a perfect companion with each other. If anyone is familiar with the old IMC kits, you will understand the complexity of this one. It was also kitted along side a Renault Gordini rally car by AMT. Although I have the Gordini, these were gotten separately sold in Heller boxes, Another double Heller kit sold by AMT were a Matra paired with a Lotus from the 60s. I've had this in the build queue for about 6 years. I buy a lot of vintage kits that come my way cheaply. One of those kits where you just only get inspired to work on once in awhile. Maybe the Gordini will be opened up now, plus the Matra and Lotus.....well maybe not just yet.
  5. Two very opposite cars. And nicely done.
  6. Looking good. Very nice concept.
  7. Thanks Cobraman. Typical of all heller kits of this era, it was a bit fiddly. The body up front is similar to the AMT Opel GT kit in the way it is part of the chassis. I separated it from the chassis and molded it to the body.
  8. Awesome start. I would try and find some old burnt out incandescent bulbs for the throttle return spring. These are pretty close to scale. They are fragile as this is the bit that burns out in a bulb.
  9. Muy buena, Geraldo.
  10. Been watching this car and its evolving look. I kinda like the distressed look of the car. Makes me want to pull the Merc kit out of the storage.
  11. Here is something I've been playing with for awhile now. Almost done. Needs glass over the lights and decals made yet. Plus painting of the tail lights and roof lights.
  12. Cal, you are turning out some nice work up in them north woods.
  13. Today I went to my factory which is pretty much empty today except for the G scale train store we have in our plant. It was a bit chilly as the heat gets dialed back over the weekends. Anyway, it was quiet and peaceful. It's my away from the female time and just me and the plastic. Worked on the Renault Alpine A210 from Heller and got its windows installed, and body placed onto the frame. Wet sanded the Mazda Cosmo and did a second coat of primer on it and started the first coat of primer on the Celica. Zen indeed!!
  14. That birdcage is pretty derned awesome.
  15. Cool collection of cars. Nicely done.
  16. Looks like I will be buying a fire extinguisher.
  17. Yup, we are gonna see Star Trek style replicators soon.
  18. I like Speedway, they were Super America too, then they folded them all to the Speedway name.

  20. So, as you see Roy, we in the states get rather creative with our tags. Some like Arizona's are quite colorful. In Wisconsin, the Native American Nations also have their own plates as they are considered sovereign entities within the State. http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/drivers/plateguide/tribal.htm You will notice that only the Menominee Tribe make reference to Wisconsin on their tags. I drive frequently through the Nations and see these plates all the time. We are home to Menominee, Ojibwe, Oneida and Lac Courte Oreilles. That last one is pronounced Lah Koodaray
  21. Was that a "made in Germany" promo? I might think it's actually American made if not. A small plastics company in Wisconsin made them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_Miniature_Company
  22. Awesome. This was the same point I was making in my rather long rambling post earlier.
  23. This swap meet is very popular here. Mrs. Dunn, the organizer, has passed away. I will post more info as I find out. This was the one they held in Waukesha at the county grounds.
  24. Go buy some cheap dish washing towels. fashion them into rolls and place model in a shallow box (shoe box, plastic box with cover you can get at any big box store) Place rolled towels on sides and at front and rear so model is stable in box. Place on floor board of car, not on seat. If you for some reason have to stand on the brakes, your cargo won't fall onto the floor.
  25. A 1976 AMC Hornet X 304 V8. In about 1984 I found it sitting on a used car lot in the very back row on the north side of Milwaukee. It was one of those lots where cars go to die. With it's green metallic paint and rallye wheels, I really felt bad for it having to humiliate itself next to the four door Chevelles. $300 later and I was the proud owner of my third ever AMC. Cleaned her up and got the engine running right with a new distributor cap, plugs and a Pertronix ignition module, the kind that lives inside the cap. Later on a set of newer AMC alloy wheels and new rubber, plus heavy anti-roll bars, I was tearing up the autocross courses. Big mistake when I sold it to a neighbor after buying my fourth ever AMC (1978 Concord Coupe DL) known as the hell car or widow maker. The Hornet was wrecked down in Georgia driven by the guy I sold it to.
