  1. So that's where my relatives got off to.
  2. Hemming's Muscle Machines puts out a calendar every year.
  3. Merry Christmas
  4. Merry Christmas and enjoy Florida's warmth.
  5. My wifey got me a Mitsuwa Mitsubishi FUSO truck with auto carrier trailer like they use in Japan. Obscure maker, and really nice kit.
  6. I work for Custom Wire Industries. We make wiring harnesses for other companies that need such a thing. Our biggest Customer is GE, and since they just bought Waukesha Engines from Dresser, it's even bigger because both were our customers. The owners are not running a charity, they like what they do and value the workers almost like family. I have to agree that they ARE an exception, but more should be like that. True, most buy things like trucks and cars in the company name. My bosses have other income from leasing space in a couple of buildings, so at least they are getting an income.
  7. It needs to be used, not held as a collectible. The drill bit will cry if it's put away. USE IT!
  8. If that was the attitude of my company owner, I'd be unemployed and the company would no longer exist. The owners have not taken a salary for two years now to keep us in business. We make things for other companies that have seen hard times. One thing we have been doing is repairing the junk these same companies have had made in China. We are starting to get these customers back and getting those outsourced jobs back. We are finally seeing an increase in orders. It's slow, but it's getting better. Just so you know, my owners are quite conservative and stand to right of center, but they also see in us workers, value. Might not be making huge money because of outsourced competition, but we are proving that better product is worth the price.
  9. ICM has entered the 1/24th scale arena with their Opel Admiral and Mercedes Benz from the WWII era. This Ukrainian company is more known for it's military subjects. I'm hoping they do a Tatraplan soon. Yes, I like weird cars
  10. My ICM Opel Admiral came in and I picked it up today. No SD card in camera (dog ate it) so I will post pic when I get a new one.
  11. Don't know about the cost breakdown per car but Australia heavily subsidizes the auto industry there. Holden gets A$1.8 billion, Ford gets A$ 1.1 billion and Toyota gets about A$1.1 billion
  12. Thanks for the reply, Niko. ISDT means International Six Day Trials, trials racing would be right. I had owned a Montessa Cota ISDT back in the late 70s.
  13. I'm pretty well blessed working where I work. Custom Wire Industries! Plenty of wiring scraps for me to dig thru. Any wiring you can find smaller than awg 30 is great for plug wires in both those scales. Remember that the number size gets bigger as the wire gets smaller. Awg means American Wire Gauge. Here is a linky, but beware, there is math. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge
  14. I guess Milwaukee rules on that aspect too. In Model Empire, they have a bunch of photo-etch hanging on the wall...Model Car garage and detail Masters.
  15. Not knowing what year Neon you are looking for is a problem. They never made a kit of one, but there was a promo model of the first series Neon. There are car kits with trailers that you can modify to look like the one under your Trans Am. There are no 2008 Chevy Trucks that I ever seen, but there may be a toy that can be used. 1999 is the earliest kit I can think off for the truck. There are 79 Trans Am kits, though.
  16. What is that? never seen one of those. Looks like a ISDT bike. Is Tuntari a Finnish brand?
  17. You just won the internet.
  18. Awesomeness, Martinfan, just simple awesomeness.
  19. I have seen a few of the G8s, GTOs and Chevy SSs. All based on Holden cars. All were very nicely done. The fit and finish was up there with other premium cars. I've seen Aussie Fords in this country sold as a Mercury Capri sports car, itself based on an older Mazda platform similar to the Miata. Not a bad car either. I've had the opportunity to view classic Aussie Fords, Chryslers, and Holdens here owned by ex-pats....all very nicely done.
  20. Funny, but a guy i know has an article about his model in it and had an advance copy on Dec. 6.
  21. it's important to know what the correct pronunciation is. I say Willys like the family pronounces their name, but I hear so many say willeez. It's in the vernacular. It does irk me about mispronunciations and I grate at them, but it isn't a big deal, and you wouldn't want to alienate your friends over it. I have friends in the model club that will pronounce JOHAN, Yohan like it was Johann, another insists on saying Aroshima instead of Aoshima, Italeri becomes Italierri from some. Not a big deal. We know what they mean when they say it. Like the argument of Bimmer and Beamer regarding the cars and bikes from Bavaria (Cars are one and Bikes are called the other), but it just comes down to douchebaggerry on that one. LOL. Jag-war or Jag-u-ar; Porsh or Porsha...does it really matter in the long run. Here's another one for you, we know of the car Mercedes Benz. The car is Mer-SAY-Deez, but the girls name that the car was named for is pronounced MER-sed-eez.
  22. The Ford does not have the complex curving of the door shape the Merc has. That's gonna be a toughy to cut and splice
