  1. I knew the music bigots would pop out on this thread. Hillbilly hyuck? Really? I think a lot of listen to country because our beloved rock and roll disappeared and country still appreciates the Guitar. My stepdaughter went from being a pop music fan to being a country listener because the pop tarts as a group do not possess talent and depend on studio musicians and auto tune to make them sound good. I like everything from Spike Jones to Tupac. Give me some good rockabilly or even some old soul music where the singers actually could sing. Ever her Britney sing without auto tune enhancing her voice? You can't even go to one of her concerts and expect live singing...she lip syncs. I've heard karaoke singers who could do her songs better than she can. My provenance for this is that I sang back up vocals for a coupe of bands, earned a scholarship fro the Layton scholl of the Arts for music and have been in choirs. Though I don't do much singing anymore, I have been invited for a karaoke reunion show. Oh, and give a listen to Clairy Browne and the Bangin' Rackettes (shameless plug) LBT is an awesome group and will go far in music. God! Do I ramble or what? LOL
  2. I'm just up the road from you in Muskego. I really liked that video. My bosses are Masons and in the Tripoli Shrine as well. They do good. Your daughter is a dear.
  3. Loewy was one of the most influencial designers of the day. Another one who had far reaching designs was Brook Stevens. Just an awesome man. Everything from common household appliances like toasters and vacuums to high speed trains like the Hiawatha trains of the Milwaukee Road...everything from the train itself to the passenger cars and observation car and it's iconic logo. Also the Miller high Life label and several Studebaker based racers and the Excalibur car. Did the designs for Willys do Brasil too.
  4. A friend bought a belt at the local sally and wore it for 5 years. One day he was looking at it and telling how he got a cool belt for 50 cents. He discovered it was a money belt with hidden access and discovered $300 inside. He'd been walking around with $300 around his middle all that time.
  5. Yah, the steering wheel looks cheesy as does the dash with it's after market guages just kind of tacked on. I'da atleast carried over some wood grain to give continuity.
  6. Those 58s had interiors, so your hypothesis is wrong. I'm going to go with more of an environmental reaction, heat, cold, cleaning with harsh product.
  7. Interesting that the kit is molded in black, a color the GT was never offered in. As far as I know, the only black GT I've ever seen was one I owned in the early 70s, and I had it sprayed from it's original light yellow.
  8. Yes, don't display the model in a show car outside...bad juju. On the body, as the 69 is just a modification of their 68 Chevelle, the side chrome trim and the side marker lights are wrong for a 69, although the latest version I think had some correction done on the side lights. Still have to examine pics of a real car to insure that. Not too sure about the interior either. Rear tail lamps are not even right. They are both mis shapen and it is difficult to get them to fit right. I would order the promo reproduction lamps from Modelhaus and fill in the holes on the body and recarve the holes to fit the promo lamps. The photoetch kits from model garage will get you the right side markers, other name plates and a grille surround to make a 69 Beaumont from Canada. You just have to sand off the molded in side lamps and place the photoetch piece in the right place.
  9. This would nice parked on my Fuso Auto Hauler. I'm doing a vintage car sales and restoration company. The truck will have a load of vintage JDM cars on it.
  10. This from a Russian movie about a flying GAZ 21
  11. Once and awhile I find kits in picker type stores for decent money...read cheap. Just located a secret stash of Tamiya models for 10 to 15 bucks a kit. It's in a back room of the store so not many people explore back there. Hehehehehehehehehehehe
  12. Because he lives in Illinois and not California.
  13. I realized that after my post. I'm just impressed with that car.
  14. Love the Chaika, Mr Geiger. Thanks for the pics of the Volga, Mr Zeats. You can see the Buick and Packard influence in the design of that big sedan. A resin Checker marathon would give one a decent start on scratch/kitbashing one.
  15. I've seen a test shot model a couple of months ago and I was very impressed with it. If I can muster my skills, I might try and duplicate the car in the pic above. I've even seen under the hood of it and it is clean.
  16. I know the man that owns this car. Nice guy and has several others. Has a Boyd built car, and Troy Trepanier built cars as well.
  17. I just love the GAZ 24. It really is a nice looking car. I've had a hankering to own a Russian car, but like you I can not afford to get one out of Russia. There was supposed to be a guy in Texas that has the big Chaikas and ZILs. Maybe some Russian friends here with business contacts in Russia can help you get the car here. About the Caprice...I would also leave the radio alone, maybe get a booster amp on it in an out of sight place and then get a Redi-Rad for the radio. It allows you to hook up iPods and portable devices to play music from that source. http://www.rediscoveradio.com/
  18. Although simple, with detailing, the car looks rather good. There are a few models of this and the Alfa racer on the forums. These are old Merit tools kits made by SMER.
  19. Most AWG sizes are written in even numbers. Odd numbers are rare below awg 1/0
  20. I talked to someone from Revell about this. Apparently all tooling for the Revival series is non repairable and will never be released. I have everyone of the kits except for the Playboy. Although seen on advert sheets and boxes, I have never seen an actual Jordan Playbot in kit form. Interesting thought on the Duesenberg, it was issued in two color combos. Same tan and brown, but in reverse. One could make a dark brown Duesy with no tan if they were to own both versions...which I do.
  21. Humber Super Snipe...any car named that just has to be cool. Big Brit saloons! 57, 58 Studebaker Golden Hawk + parts to make the Packard Hawk. Looks like a cat fish thrown on the dock, but what the hey...it's cool in my eyes. 55 Ford 40s era Hudson Pick Up Kaiser Darrin sports car
  22. I have to give a shout out to Heller. Very fiddly kits on some, but nice when built with care. They did a cross market with AMT and gave us such beauties as the Renault Gordini, Renault Alpine racer, Lotus, Matra...all sold as AMT kits in double boxes and in their own box.
