  1. I am so happy I live near Milwaukee. We have the best LHS selection out there. Plus being involved with two model shows, it's nice that I can call and ask for door prize stuff from the owners. I know them and they know me. I tend to support those who support the hobby locally. I have to give kudos to a big company, Revell, for helping out with kits and displays of upcoming stuff at our NNL.
  2. My condolences and deepest sympathy to you.
  3. ...and he can't afford a plug wire.
  4. Would Monday be the Revenge Of The Sixth?
  5. I wonder what the body restoration alone cost. I could do this for you at about $200,000.
  6. HHR Panel truck in SS trim 1984 Charger....love those lil hatches 1976 Eldorado convert 1969 or 68 Buick Skylark Custom 1976 AMC Hornet X V8
  7. The Heller/AMT Renault Gordini is my multi piece nemesis.
  8. Just a bit of humor for the rail workers. My dad worked for the Milwaukee Road and later The Soo Line and a very small bit for a Canadian rr that bought them. He then retired. I'm not allowed to run the train The whistle I can't blow… I'm not allowed to say how far The railroad cars can go. I'm not allowed to shoot off steam, Nor even clang the bell… But let the darned train jump the track And see who catches Hell!
  9. I got tired of crummy phone pics of model cars, so I bought a Fujifilm Finepix 4250. Finally something with a macro setting. Once I figure out how to use it, I'll be posting pics... I wanted something inexpensive to learn on and this fit the bill. was $119 at the Wally World.
  10. Floquil has a very nice black primer as well as white. Very comparable to Tamiya. Floquil is popular with the model RR crowd.
  11. We in southern Wisconsin are keeping an eye on our rivers. The Fox at Big Bend was over it's banks. In Muskego, the water seems to find its own course through my back yard.
  12. My dog finds all the dropped bits....and chews them to an unrecognizable mass.
  13. Sheesh, Custom Hearse! Now I won't be able to sleep tonight.
  14. I remember when I lived in California and I took my car, fresh from Wisconsin, into a smog station. I had a 64 LeSabre with the little 300 engine. They retro fitted out of state cars with what was nothing more than removing the vacuum advance hose and plugging the fittings at the carb and distributor. They set the advance to a pre determined level and that was it. Simple? Not if you drove a lot of highway miles. Anything over 55 mph was gonna burn your valves. Most of us "in the know" would just re install the vacuum line and tune the advance back to factory settings. It was just California's way of getting rid of older cars through attrition of engines going bad and the car really not being worth much to begin with and just junking it and buying another California car with it's required smog equipment that the 49 state cars didn't have at the time.
  15. Best concert I ever saw was the 3D Psycho Circus tour. It was like Stanely's guitar touched my nose from the stage. I also saw the Revenge tour.
  16. My nemesis? The Revell of Germany 2007 Ferrari F1 racer.
  17. Most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.
  18. Picked up a 1960 Edsel built up yesterday. No paint, just a clean assembly.
  19. This is mine. I bought this at a clearance sale at a high end store. I think I paid $300 for it. It's in the actual living room of my apartment and the GF doesn't mind at all because it's nice furniture.
  20. The issue with vacuum plating is that the finish will not survive in the environment. This is why Chrome Tech says so in their literature. Not for use on external parts, they will not chrome plastic grilles and other trim on a car.
  21. I think going in at the end of the month was the big reason you had a long line. Of Course, Chicago is a big place and contains millions of automobiles. Here in Wisconsin, we have the same dilemma, the Milwaukee Metro area, which includes Milwaukee County Waukesha County, racine County and Kenosha County. Another nice thing they threw at us this year is they no longer have dedicated places to have your car tested. Now it's done at the dealer or mechanic shop. Tell me that isn't going to be fraught with fraudulent test data. The failure rate has already increased. Me thinks these places are selling expensive work and parts to a captive audience.
  22. Nice guitar collection. I decided to go another route with mine. I collect the cheapo guitars from the 70s and there abouts. I have a Hi-Lo Fender Strat copy and a Aria Pro XX, which is similar to a Flying V. They initially were bought to take as props to karaoke. (See avatar name). Now I keep an eye out for them as they are really cheap at rummage sales and look cool.
  23. I seen those SSS,s painted red or that burnt orange color Datsun had in the day. I'm sure a google will find a paint chart for that car. There is a vintage J-car website that has proven interesting.
  24. Not really all that rare, but we will never see them molded again....the 1966 Renwal Revivals. I have all but the Jordan which is hardest to find. I even have the Bugatti. Of all the ones I see for sale now and again, non were ever painted by the builder. I guess mostly because they were molded in color. The Duesenberg kit was actually released in two color variants of a light brown and dark brown. The colors were reversed for the second issue. Right now, my Bugatti is undergoing a build with upgraded chassis from a Corvette. If you remember, these kits had very basic chassis pans with similar wheels across the range and steel axles.
