I DJed a car show held in a municipality some miles away from my home. When I got there, the venue did not have an outlet in the area where they wanted me to do the show. A Masonic Lodge had an outdoor outlet near where I was set up. I was told to just plug into that. I refused knowing I did not have the permission to access it. I wanted the OK from the Lodge before I plugged in. We could not find a person with that authority. I eventually moved to a city owned pavillion and DJed from there with the OK of the city. Had I used the other source and a person from the Lodge showed up and had an issue with it, I would have been at the very least be asked to cease. So no, a guy cannot just plug in to a random outlet. The guys excuse in the article was he considered it to be like getting water from a public bubbler (drinking fountain for those not living in Milwaukee). I say that the bubbler was put there for the intended purpose of letting thirsty citizens get a drink....not so with an outlet which was there for school functions, school power equipment, etc.

You really need to see these beasts in action. In Wisconsin, there is a thresheree where they power up these tractors and other vintage steam and oil engines. Place is called Symco. They also have a pre 64 rod and custom show there as well and they do fire these things up to the delight of the spectators. They drive them around the grounds and the steering on these is very crude....a chain hooked up to the front axle controlled from the operators perch, much like a soap box car steering.

If'n ones good, twos gotta be better

That is a car that Mattel had made to replicate the Twin Mill toy they made. It toured car shows a few years ago. I saw it in Milwaukee. -
My condolences to you. I'm in Wisconsin too and sometimes the cold weather can add to the heaviness one feels in times like this. It is true that the simple things can bring the greatest joy and I sincerely hope you find that joy in your life. Keep you in my prayers.

Had a model car club meeting tonight and wound up with a 40 Ford Sedan in a bag. Looks to be all there and the parts seem to be sourced from different kits as there is black, grey and white plastic. Too bad the chrome is from the diamond in the rough kit with it's bent bumpers and crappy chrome. Also got a partially built ZZR Spy Car. Not painted and cleanly assembled. Won't be hard to take apart and redo it. A sealed Mercedes kit from Lindberg. A 1/43 scale Moskvitch station wagon with Aeroflot markings. The box says "Made In The USSR". I love this kind of stuff. And an MPC 71 Jeepster Safari Version which also has the Spoof parts included. These were outsized add ons to be comical in appearance. No plow came with this issue, but it has firearms!!! I need to get a new memory card for the camera as my Chihuahua chewed it up.....derned dog!

You are only missing the Bugatti. I have that and I am missing the Jordan. None of mine are untouched except the mercer. The rest are built ups. -
Instructions art
lordairgtar replied to lordairgtar's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting, 935k3. Are these resin kits, or multi media? I never heard of that kit maker before. -
we have had posts about the many brilliant manufacturers, designers, builders and box art artists. Never a mention of those who draw the instruction sheets. Some of the sheets were works of art in and of themselves. I bring to fore, one Phillipe DeLespiney, who did the drawings for Heller in the 60s. His drawings were pretty darned nice in my opinion. Do we know who drew for the other manufacturers? Who drew brilliantly? Who shouldn't be near a crayon? Whose drawings were not able to be understood or who drew so well that you just knew how it all came together? I think the people who drew JoHan's sheets for the Trophy Series (Mercedes, Cadillacs, Turbines) were very talented.

So photography of the real car would not qualify as art, sjordan2? -

They won't be reissued. The tooling is beyond repair or missing important parts. -

Yours makes me think Ford should have offered a stainless area in between the chrome strips like yours.

I really love this body style on the Buick. My Grandfather had a 69 Skylark Custom 350 and I later owned a 69 Special Deluxe 350 (same body). Both were two doors, the Skylark a hardtop and the Special a coupe. I've always wanted to build a version using Perry's kit (never liked his take on the grille shape, I think it needed a more pointed shape). You did an excellent build on this one.

Very very nice. Makes me want to build one of those.

I am lucky to live 18 miles from Milwaukee which has a couple of great hobby shops. Model Empire, which does have an online presence, and Greenfield News & Hobby. Plus a military model shop, Panther Models, which has some automobile kits and ordered my Opel Admiral for me. There are quite a few swaps during the year in our area and of course the Milwaukee NNL which has an event on the following day by another vendor group.

She's female, there is no off switch. -
I might be missing the finer technical aspects of the rear suspension, but weren't they all IRS since the beginning? Wasn't a swing axle an independent suspension?

I just ordered my Opel Admiral kit today. I got it for $50.96. The GFs eyes got real big when I took out my VISA card, so I had to by her something she wanted. That went from a $50 day to a $400 day real fast.

i remember the first time I saw a Tucker in Milwaukee Wisconsin. It was in 1966 I believe and it was in a body shop and very much covered in the dust that happens in body shops. It was used as a advertising car for some Ice Cream company and was painted pink and white. It always bothered me that such a unique car languished in the shop like that. Years later, I contacted the Tucker forums and described the car and they got back to me telling me that they knew what car # it was and that it was indeed restored and living out west somewhere. I tried to locate the forum which gave me the answer then but is no longer online. There is one now owned nearby that is occasionally shown at shows and it is a dark green metallic.

that's what I'm thinking. It looks like a storage locker he paid too much for and is trying make a bit of profit.
