Oh geez, ToyLvr, that Caddy is not very attractive with those custom parts, but a good reference to what someone in the industry thought custom cars should be.

Never give a farmer a welder.....

I have seen this vehicle at a traditional rod show. I think it was at Symco Wisconsin. I think this would be the perfect vehicle for politicians to drive. What they spread is about the same as this wagon spread in it's former life. -
I've never seen these. Was this a clone of a Polaroid?

mpc Pacer x it has a mile of glass but no class lol

no pics, this was some time ago. I do see hints of these existing on the various places on the web. Pintos, Mavericks and Comets were made by JoHan as stock builds and funny cars like their Hornet hatch. Basically a promo body over a Logghe chassis. Palmer had a few of these cars made as kits but Palmer had really bad kits. Multi piece bodies and stuff and a generic chassis. Lindberg's Gremlin and Vega are from old Palmer tooling in a goofy scale size. I have a couple of Hornet X hatch promos which are going to be converted to full detail models using AMT's Gremlins for chassis and engine. In real cars, I've owned a 76 Hornet X V8, a 78 Concord D/L coupe, 2 Gremlins, 1984 Dodge Charger, and a 74 matador 4 door ex cop car from Santa Barbara.with a 401 V8. -

It was funny about AMC in that they would use up emblems and such from the year previous. In the beginning of the model year there were a few Xs made for 78. All others were Sports or D/Ls. I had a friend with a 78 Pacer X bought new at a Milwaukee dealership. -

Yes, and truth be told, I see several Volts in my city at times. -

I got to go to a seminar about the Volt because I had purchased a couple of cars from my local Chevy dealer. I agree, the Volt had some awesome tech in it. I got to drive it and thought, My what a nice car. Needed more range on the battery though. -

It seems like a lot of hassle to go through to get what you want. I'm very patient and I think you were too as well. But to ask for a refund because the kits had gone down in value? That's what I cannot understand. It ain't the stock market here. If you bought kits to build, the value would not mean a thing. Many of us go through this. We buy some grail kit that's rare and then someone re releases it....so what! I bought a bunch of Renwal Revival 66 kits and if Revell decided to release them again, I would not really care. But they won't release them because the tooling is damaged....but still. -
They have. I think one of the recent Model cars mags has done a review on it. I know someone in our club had brought on to our model club meetings.

My HHR panel gets darned good mileage. About 30, but sometimes even into the 40s, plus it can haul stuff being kind of a trucklet. Chevy blew it when they quit making these. They easily could have updated that grille to reflect Chevy corporat design and competed with the Transit Connect and the Nissan NV 200 and the forth coming Ram small truck/van that will be made by Fiat. But noone ever accused GM of being smart. -
The Unappreciated Ford Mustang
lordairgtar replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In the beginning, you could not get a V8 Mustang II. The cars were V6s or 4s. But across the border, Mexican buyers could buy 74s with a V8. These were not allowed in the US. Also those Mexican V8 302s had a higher nickel content in the steel and were much prized by racers and performance builders. Once car guys found out about this, they clamored for the V8. The Mexican version had ducting that cooled the battery, the latter US V8 did not have this. -
Everyone pretty much covered everything that I saw except one thing. It's something I strive to make sure is installed right. The headlight glass is not in correct as the lens facets appear to be on the diagonal axis. These should be placed so the facts show vertical and horizontal. I don't know if the facets will show on my 56 in the pic. One thind I will commend you on is the total lack of glue showing as far as I can see.

Mmmmmm, think I'll hold onto these for a bit....LOL I hear if you put them together , you get a whole body shell.

NOS Barn Finds - Sale Is Next Month
lordairgtar replied to Lunajammer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Trouble with these cars is, that they will need complete restoration work just as a rusty wreck with over 100,000 miles on it. And it will cost about the same, too. -

I'd keep the same color and LT trim bits if it were mine. There are enough Zed 28s on the road. Probably more than GM made originally. -

The Unappreciated Ford Mustang
lordairgtar replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yet the Mustang II was closer to it's original roots than you think. A small car with common underpinnings. Now everyone acts like the Mustang was something special, but it had it's source in the common lowly Falcon. After it's beginning as a small light weight car, it grew in length and pounds. By the time the early 70s brought the long strwetched out Mustang, it was far from it's beginnings. Also do not forget that the Ford Probe (which wasn't such a bad car in it's own right) was initially going to be the Mustang after the II was put to rest. Luckily, a fan outcry saved the marque and we got the Fox platform car...again a car based on the common underpinnings of lesser cars like the Zephyr and the Fairmont, plus Marquis, LTD II and Thunderbird versions.
