  1. Bob, it sure looks like a Seagrave cab.
  2. Since I scratch build alot of rescue/fire bodies, a machinists square, and a 6" ruler marked in 0.01" increments.
  3. Looks good over here too! Glad to see you back at this one!
  4. To be accurate, it would be easier to start from scratch. The 1st gen body is narrower, and the front and rear overhans differ greatly. The interior is also completely different. The only thing that is shared between the 1st gen., and the Scout II is the wheel base. There were several diecast Scouts produced, non of which were very accurate. The 4 cylinder engine was available in the Scout II's thru 1980 although it was a 196 ci, in place of the 152 ci in the earlier Scouts. I have started on several occasions to master a 1st gen body, but, I hate working on them at work, so, its very hard to get enthused about building a model of one!
  5. Thats what I thought! I figured a 30 series van should have had 8 lug wheels.
  6. Has anyone noticed that the emblems are for a 30 series? Isn't a 30 series a 3/4 ton??
  7. The Dupont code for UPS fleet brown is 744412A. They used single stage Centari on all of their repaint/repairs. You should be able to give that code to your local auto paint supplier, and they should be able to mix it for you.
  8. Amazing work!!! The bodies are now made by Morgan-Olson. I can get you some interior shots if you need them, and, as an fyi....the upper sides have a textured vinyl decal on them so that they don't scratch as easy.
  9. It lives! Glad to see you back on this one!
  10. The one that Chuck posted looks like the one that we service on an IH chassis. The body is built by Morgan-Olsen. IIRC the trucks are classed as 500's, 750's, and 1000's. It has to do with the size of the truck. Also according to UPS they are not trucks, they are "package cars"
  11. That style has been used for years. They have been on Ford chassis with 300 6 cyl engines, Freightliner chassis with Cummins, and others. They have also used IH chassis with 444E diesels, and the Workhorse chassis for the lighter trucks.
  12. A little update. After building the front frame, I fabricated a pair of frame rails. Then I mated the front to the main rails. Since I am building two MR chassied fire trucks, I tackled the front springs next. I built 4 at the same time. When I was at home over the holidays, I was able to get some more dimensions and pictures of the truck. while i had ambition, I started on the first of 4 sections of the ladder. For strength, and because of the size, I am laminating strips of different sizes together to get the correct size and shape.
  13. What vintage will it be? I have access to a mid 90's on a Navistar chassis
  14. I'll look at work tomorrow. We should have some Dupont on the shelf, and I'll get the code.
  15. Its too bad that the Ertl Transtar has so many flaws in the cab when they changed the tooling from the CO4000 to the Transtar. I'd still buy several cases.....
  16. Drop me a pm, and I can fill you in on the details.
  17. Yes, I offer a resin daycab. Pm me for details. Looking amazing Jamie!
  18. I don't know many on here personally, so,...... Thanks you to all of you that have inspired me to do better.
  19. I have access to a '74 F750, with a 5 speed manual in it. I can get some shots of it if you like. Would U-Haul have had autos back then?
  20. Very cool! That cab was used on a wide range of trucks. Not to nit-pick, but you might want to add a fuel filler neck in the left lower cab corner.
  21. We have a Siemens plant just south of town that produces blades. They go out on truck, or modified train cars. The trailers extend in the middle, and also hav a rear "bumper" that extends. I have a bunch of pics of an empty trailer if any one would like me to post them.
  22. Several have been on my shelf for years......Most are scratchbuilt, so a lot of times I'll be stumped on how something is supposed to look or fit, so, I put it away untill I find out and can do it correctly.
  23. Yup. Just like that. They were doing them back into the 50's, and are still doing them today.
