  1. That's a good looking build! My cat is all over snakes, so cat hair excused.
  2. You always make sense, Ace! I wish I had the car still to crawl under, but some new undercoating was my only guess. I figured it was an aircraft color concerning radar .. eheh edit: ohh .. missed those photos you added.. there it is!! .. and I can be sloppy and kludgy with the brush paint .
  3. I'm back to working on my 2013 Mini Countryman I had and there's a color call out in the instructions for a Radome color paint. This is a Mr. Color color and I had purchased it as I'm doing a factory build. It is a yellow-tan color and I have no idea what material this is supposed to represent .. it is only on the underside .. a undercoating maybe? The photo shows where it is. Still a 3rd brush coat to go .. feel like I'm 10 again brushing ships! So, I'm really interested in what material this color is supposed to represent .. would appreciate anyone who knows, or even guesses enlightening us!
  4. Depends on what size the image your scaling down is. To figure what size you need for 1/25 you divide the dimension of the original lettering by 25. If you have an image you got off the web, print it from your program with no scaling and measure it. You have to figure out how much that has been reduced from life size or how much larger it is than the size you want. Say it's half (50%) the size of the original when printed. Easiest is to just divide the 1:1 size by 25 and that's the size of the decal you need. You have to go through some ratios to get the exact percentage reduction to plug into whatever program you're using. (I'm not familiar with KIMP) out hen print it out on REGULAR paper to check the size. Scale again it that's not right. Don't use decal paper until you have everything right on a plain paper print.
  5. My guess would be you have to sand the marks away with progressively fined sandpaper and then polish. It will all depend how deep the marks are.
  6. Two, actually .. Ace already took this road ...
  7. That looks really good .. should be finished if possible!
  8. Don't bet on that .. 3D Car meshes run about $100 from the well known 3D Auto Mesh creators. Something useable for 3D printing take even more work to make it printable.
  9. I'm an engineer and I have used 3d Max since 1992 (3D Studio back then). I started 3D because I saw a car body and that hooked me. I consider myself an amateur because I never spent the time to make a full car body from scratch, but I have modified many. My comment was sarcastic. With all the discussion here about 3D printing I thought it would be obvious. Most here are not familiar with Turbo Squid. They are a well known 3D house and have many 3D auto files for sale. The the gentleman that made the Ford GT 2017 named squir is a very well known and prolific 3D auto modeler and is quite good to boot. I have many of his meshes. I haven't looked at the artists that did the others but Ford and Turbo Squid being involved tells me their qualifications arn't a problem. Too bad Ford has treated this with the same mind think as promos and not any thought yet to modelers.
  10. I guess Ford doesn't understand scale
  11. ok, a couple more oldies I have .. these are very early '60's and .. holy tri-five . I DID do a '57!
  12. I always size to 800 wide, but lately I've been doing 1000. With 92% jpeg compression the come out looking good and small enough for any web page.
  13. I'd swear it said you were in MA ... Worcester.. did you just change your location? ehhe .. typical, as we can NEVER get the MA out of us no matter where we might reside.
  14. This is aging before my eyes! Good to see it getting piled on as it sits before you and another idea pops up .. that's how the old 1:1's got the way they are . day-by-day. Looking fantastic! AND realistic
  15. Anyone from MA is not allowed to say that .. thread title here ... until at least August! So, tear that kit out and get that play smoothed and rusted.

    Fiat Abarth

VERY good looking build .. these hot little cars deserve it!
  17. You know when a particular auto model has been wanted for a long time when you see how different and spectacular the first builds are! Amazing, Gentlemen!
  18. I just finished the Bent Road article and I did enjoy it. I was a long build up to the very nice truck build but it was well done. Just the same old articles about how much someone loves Chevys gets pretty boring. This was a refreshing change .. as is most of what's in MCM!
  19. Been enjoying this build. I never saw that '54 Chevy Panel before and reminded me of the Woodie build I'm working on. It's not a drag racer though.
  20. Just an engine turned decal sheet would be a big one! I'm sure you'd sell more than any of your other decal sheets. You'll find a number of threads here through out the years about how to do engine turned patterns. A decal sheet than can be trimmed to suit any dash, firewall .. anything would be stunning! I wouldn't put anything but a full engine turned area on the sheet. Do another for hot rod details or whatever.
  21. Good to hear everything is good .. but .. "She is wearing on me as she asks me to run for something every other minute." ... this is why I dread my wife having anything done .
  22. Definitely some beautiful models here, but every contest has different people judging them and you can't expect to do the same in every one. There's also many different entries to compete against. I don't do contests anymore because it tends to control my builds if I'm aiming for one and not what I want to do. I'm also way too old to worry about competing. What I feel I always get skunked on is getting a photo in a model magazine. I know I don't show them enough but have enough to feel passed by. I'm not the best builder in the world, I know .. and not the cleanest builds .. or shiniest paint .. ehhe maybe that's enough to explain it! So here's one I thought might have had a chance ..
  23. Just enjoy the weather ... well, I see PA keeps getting those lines of thunderstorms pointed at us .. hope you get a good slot between the lines ...
