I have used all the cutting methods mentioned and have just settled on using my finetooth razor saw in a holder I got from Micro Mark a number of years ago. I don't know what it was called or can find it in their current catalog. I have tried using the "roll xacto knife back and forth method" but find the knife easily slips off track for a 90 degree cut. I find this to be the least accurate method though I know many swear by it. I have the K&S tube cutter but have never used a tube large enough to try it. It does not work on the small tubes I mostly use. Without checking I'd say the smallest tube It will work on is about a quarter inch. Maybe someone can enlighten us on the smallest size. I do use my miter box and razor saw a lot, but the smallest tubes work very well in the tube holder. The end slides out and is clamped by a screw on the side to set length for repeat cuts. The top little lever flips away and then sit atop the tube in the vee and holds it in place. The saw goes into the narrow slot and is easy to keep straight as it's just slightly wider than my 32 tooth razor saw blade. I hold the handle and place it against my bench and saw away. Of course the ends need dressing like any saw cut.

My in progress trucks: Kenworth S2
Foxer replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
some cool looking trucks here .. but never worry about completion if you're enjoying working on them.I have to have 20 or so I'm working on ... I never count. I go back and forth as I feel like and enjoy every second. I enjoy the building rather than the staring at my shelves. -

While they're at it, Why not open up the 1940 Ford Pick Up ?

Thanks for the clarification, Art. I didn't know they grouped molds like that. -
While they're at it, Why not open up the 1940 Ford Pick Up ?

Have you ever seen a mold for an injection molding machine? .. 'cut apart and rearranged' ???? I'm no mold expert .. just a structural engineer that has designed molding machine foundations (one the Alpha for GE Plastics that is one of largest molding machines in the US) and fit bridge cranes in Detroit to handle larger molds than original. I seriously doubt any mold could be 'cut apart and rearranged' .. even one as small as a 1/25 kit is. Could you expound on how this is possible?.. I'm always looking to learn .. -
Pretty classy, Art .. what's with the red front? .. just curious, not a critique

ARRRRRGHHHHHHH.. Just Missed this!
Foxer replied to impcon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
no link .. but someone here probably snagged it from ya! -
ehhe .. my first automatic was a '67 Tempest with the transmission from hell. It would start skipping when it got hot. Had it looked at many times and even torn down and put back together. That seemed to work but I'd had enough and sold it for the cost of the rebuilld. Talked to the guy a month later and he said the trans started skipping on the way home! Said he got a standard from a junkyard and replaced it .. what I should have done! It did have one of the tightest engines I ever had .. not a drop of oil on it. Nice builds here guys!

Head lights/ Tail lights for Deuce ?
Foxer replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a WIP here that might spark an idea for you .. Taillight surrounds are plastic strips that carry the body trunk body molding down to surround some hand made shapes. The clear red taillight shapes are'nt in the photo. Headlights are from a Prowler -
The roof worked for sure on this!

I've built a few models like this before I learned to read instructions.

Heller 1/8 Traction Avant
Foxer replied to Cato's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
awww.. I thought we were going to be treated to a build of this one by you, Cato. The Traction Avant has been one of my all time favorite cars since I was about 12 ... I always thought it looked like a sectioned and channeled '32 Ford ... this was when AMT first put their '32 out. That looks like a great reference. -
But it was available! .. and does cast a long shadow!

I'm going to disrupt this beautiful display with an old slide from when I was 13 or 14 ...

The chrome looks exquisite! Did you do the lettering by the BMF-paint-scratch paint off method? It looks fantastic.

Welcome to the forum, Brian. I grew up across the Sound, but up north in the Hills now. Do dabble into the other forums as there's lots of cross interest things going on here. Best way is just use the View New Content on top right and you won't miss anything in any forum. -
Be sure you go back to the first post of this thread for the link to the thread here that started me on this "trial" thread ad the vender's web page. I'm going to post every use I find for Bondic in out hobby here.

I avoided this thread until now .. guess I had '70-80's in my head. But, everything shown so far has been beautiful!!

Here's a shot of the taillights cast in Bondic and colored with a sharpie. I glued a .005" sheet behind the taillight holes and painted silver for this shot.

Here's a final shot of the Bondic custom taillights. They were polished like clear kit window glass with no problems. Color was done with a red Sharpie. I primed the back of the body added a .005" sheet behind to close off the light opening. This was painted silver for this shot.
