Did a TV Show/Movie get you interested in cars/models?
Foxer replied to Randytheroadrunner's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
No. Not sure there WERE TV shows when I started modeling ... well, had to be, but there were no Wild Bill Hickok models back then. -
welcome to the forum

Put 3" lift blocks on the springs .. maybe not the most authentic lift but it did the job. Now I see I do have to shorten the wheelbase about a quarter inch. Got some measuring to do to get it more exact. It looks like it will be easy to take a piece out just behind the transmission end and will be easy to reinforce there. The guides are on fenders for the flare piece to be welded and I removed the side chrome on front fenders as they interfered with the flare putty when I blend in. Still to be decided if I add chrome back or leave plain .. or just drill mounting holes where it USED to be. This is going to be a bit worn out and rusty. I did notice the wheels shown from Chief Joseph have holes for mounting air nozzles! .. amazing. And, speaking of the Chief, here's the carb from him I'm using ... another amazing piece! I detached it from the casting block and added a mounting pin under it. Traced the bottom to make a adapter for the truck manifold. If you like this carb there's more photos in a thread I resurrected about how bad carburetors were cast ... I had to take that back after seeing these!

There are aftermarket people doing police stuff. I just saw one listed in the Car Aftermarket/ Resin section. Shouldn't be too far down the list.

Sorry about bringing this thread back from the dead, but it's NOT the end of it all. Chief Joseph of Fireball Models has stepped up and is delivering some Rochester Quadrajet carbs that but just about everything made to date to shame! This NEEDED to be added to this thread. I purchased these for a build and was simply floored at the detail! Let the photos speak ... and remember, these are 1/24!

That's some pretty smooth paint!

Thanks for all the comments AND opinions! It always helps when I'm playing with a concept to hear what others think. The big wheels are in . but they do project pretty far up into the wheel wells so a small lift at least is called for. This should make the tires clear the wheel wells better and alleviate that problem. I did test fit the engine from the truck with the Merc body on and seems to clear everything and looks ok too. I got Chief Joseph's spectacular new four-barrel and that will find a spot in the engine bay ... non or removable filter !

This looks awesome already and is one of my modeling loves .. building what's sitting out in the garage! The rust is looking very good .. engine is amazing ... all the small things made from add pieces .. woot! great building .. !

I'm thinking on the same lines, José and Rob I won't be gouging into the wood but the wheel openings do need some widening at the lower corners. An eighth of an inch spacer is a 3" lift so maybe that's the sure way to get clearance .. a .08" spacer would do the job. I do want to put some flares on the openings ... to cover the tires sticking out and for looks too, but I'm keeping the flare blend to the body outside the woodwork

I got tires from Chief Joseph .. these are beautiful tires! Some of his rims also and they just slid on the Monogram axles. Now I have to decide .. I think the big ones win but need about a 3" lift to clear wheel openings. Or I just enlarge the wheel openings near the bottoms. Here's both side views to compare ...

Engine looks really good! Your weathering is very realistic and makes it look like it's been started and used. -
have to agree, and I do have both . including the new Revell '70 Cabriolet.

What is a "girls " car ?
Foxer replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yeah .. didn't mean to start anything .. well .. I've built most of mine and have threads here. I'm more a sports car guy .. I don't even look at muscle cars as I consider them cheap cars with huge straight line engines .. of no interest to me. They DO sound good, though eheh. I've had five Porsches and a couple Infiniti's of the G coupe variety .. standards with all the goodies. A triumph TR4. A pile of VW's. Right now I have a BMW X1 cause I need 4WD to get up my drive in winter. Guess I'm more a small tuned engine with good suspension person. And have no interest in what anyone thinks about what I drive ,, cause I drive it. Was just being a wisebutt with that comment .. and meant no offense to anyone . . we all have different tastes, i.e. we get a LOT of choices in cars.. praise the Lord. -
I like it! well done rod.

hahaha .. this thread is a riot .. all these manly dudes here ... I think everyone should be required to say what they are currently driving before posting. -
Didn't even know there was an M1 kit. It looks right low .. and the engine is looking very good!

Thanks for the responses encouragement. I just sent for Chief Joseph's 35 inch Krawlers and his new 6 lug rims. These should look right and be about as big as I want .. not cartoonish! I don't think I'll have to open the wheel wells but may add some flares when I see how the tires look. I winch would be right .. still looking for where I can get one ... or I just make it.

Welcome and I like you sense of humor.
