  1. Interior is going to be gorgeous!
  2. OK ... bear with me as I have more photos of the rear deck to decide which one I use. I promise these are the last but I combined them for better angles easier comparison. In both images the original Tamiya engine lid is on the left and the Revell 1/25 lid is on the right. You can see the bulge created for the '68 model year in the side shots. This is very noticeable with both side by side. The 3/4 view also amplifies the different shape. I'm pretty well convinced the newer, though smaller, Revell hood should be used. I'll have to sand and smooth the lip on the body for a smoother transition.
  3. A little late as these I got at NNL East, but a flat on the NY Thruway on way home wiped me out. The Advanti I've always wanted to get. Jimmy Flintstone had the Porsche 550 Speedster for $15 so I jumped on the last one. I already have a 356 and plans to build something. I needed thin whitewall tires for a build on my '69 Bug so I eyeballed some tires. No luck size wise but the whitewall stickers from Vinyl Nation Decals were waiting in the mailbox when we got back .. they look like they will do. 4. Good to see those flares now ... they came out looking REAL good!
  5. 1/9 .. that is odd .. but watching this go together will not be odd .. or, maybe it will!
  6. That looks great up on wheels!
  7. That came out of the pond really clean! I always have trouble with getting black paint off. I built one of these when it came out as an annual ... you'll get no age or date from me! Painted dark blue and gold.
  8. I'm not sure I want to go that far ... it would be doable, though. I'm not 100% the center section would fit well. I should primer the pink and do a shot of it. Some of the flat areas of the body where the Tamiya lid covers are exposed along the sides. All in primer will show better how it will end up looking. OK, that's my job tomorrow.
  9. I'd try Silly Putty ... it works for irregular masking.
  10. I'd say look at some of Replicas & Miniatures' castings to see how thin you can really go.
  11. A small update ... the lids are about done ... just a little rounding of the rear lid edge. I started to shape the rear lid from the Revell VW Street Machine but It's a 1'25 and a bit narrow, so I just flattened the Tamiya lid. And some primer to check mods ... The rear deck is a bit off shape and doesn't have the bump out for engine clearance. We'll see when I fabricate a new oil bath cleaner.]
  12. I'm enjoying this .. I love bodywork. Can't wait to see it in primer!
  13. The Tamiya kit, as Curtis says, is excellent!
  14. A pretty unique build .. and your restrained weathering looks just right for a racer.
  15. That was fast. I started a Tamiya Bug recently, but I expect it to be a little longer building. It will be good seeing one go together here.
  16. Sometimes regular styrene glue will pry apart if not too heavily applied. Put it in the freezer for an hour or so and it will come apart easier as the glue joint becomes brittle. CA (super glue) may soften with a CA Debonder. There are various types of this. Here's a few links to that .. 1 2 If epoxy was used, it may be time for the saw!
  17. wonder if that the a/c on the side..
  18. I got a blowout of a run flat tire on the trip back and had to get a tow so there are late. There was a lot of unique and great models there. There are the two I brought to the show: and all the rest ... http://s219.photobucket.com/user/Foxerjr/library/NNL%20East%202013?sort=2&page=1
  19. That looks much easier than using strips of half round.
  20. I know I got many melons off that truck! That a great build!
  21. Very nice. Glad to see it's worked out.
  22. Nothing happening today .. just logged on at the motel for NNL East! But, I have been working the engine and trunk lids ... just nothing to post yet.
