eheh ,, sorry about that. I DID find some great reference photos. I've been contemplating a build of a '67 LeMans I had but have very few photos of it. I know I need to revise the tail lights and add the dog dish hubcaps in addition to making the motor a standard V8. Found all in your photos! Thanks for posting. And your Firebird looks great!

Nice job there .. I love "pre-owned" cars!

Need help from you guys with my old memory...

THAT'S IT! Thanks, Dave -
Interesting paint scheme .. exterior/interior color contrasts. That paint repair was awesome! I'm glad to see someone DO this!

I know someone makes spark plug wire ends with a 90 degree bend, but for the life of me I can't remember who it is. I went through many of my saved links but still coming up short. I have a straight 8 L-head with a wire tube for the wires and a short wire coming out with a 90 degree bend. These pre made ends will make it look much better. Thanks in advance to those with better memories than me!

Most injected molded bodies come in at around .04" thick. This is a common thickness of available sheet plastic and I'd say it's a good place to start making the body you want. It's thick enough to hold it's shape in large flat panels and thin enough that it won't look any more out of scale than the bodies we get in kits. Thinning exposed edges to look more to scale will also help.

Welcome to the forum and I have to envy your hubby having a building partner right in the house. Or, maybe I don't .. "that's MY can of gloss black!" Enjoy your stay and love to see anything you do. As said above, just build for yourself and enjoy it.

OT- anyone here own or recommend a GPS unit?
Foxer replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a GPS that came with my Infinity and that convinced me these ARE worth it. I got my wife a Garmin nuvi 700 series a couple years ago. I thought Garmin had a good interface and was very useable. My Infiniti has voice activation which I highly recommend .. this wasn't available in aftermarket units at the time I bought one. You defiantly want to stop to use it with out having voice commands. Most of the models just increase as features are added.. not all are necessary. 95% of the time we use it as a GPS .. where's the next turn! All the other is mostly fluff. The other 5% is usually used finding somewhere to eat in a strange city. The traffic Info feature we don't use as it has a yearly fee. I'd try to use various ones, Like Tom-Tom and Magellean, in addition to Garmin to see what feels "right" to you when entering addresses and such. Menu's vary all over the place like any software .. some make no sense at all. -
Pose on the car is right on ..it is flying! It sure sounds like the mods really improved the look.

I really like that parachute shroud.

Land Rover Models Enthusiast

Welcome, Daniel, and I love the weathering on that first mud covered one! It's all wet below and starts drying out as it gets up high. I suspect you've done this more than once to one of the family Rovers?? -
This came out beautifully! I'll NEVER squirm from doing any major bodywork with plastic and putty after seeing this exquisite piece of body work!

I just started hacking away at this '32 Chrysler Roadster and have it channeled about 7" and I'm starting to think about engine options. I like the straight 8 it came with and am defiantly leaving it. I have a manifold and carbs off a '51 Chevy that will adapt but am looking for some other ideas for induction setup and options I can use for the exhausts. The photos show the stance mockup from Photoshop with the front axle tight against the frame and rear end in stock position. This will give a good rake and maybe will lower the rear slightly still. The engine is shown with stock intake and exhaust in place. The upper manifold is the exhaust .. it exits below the intake manifold at the center and does look good in that high position. I am planning to use many of the stock components with little switches here and there as the mood strikes. Not a radical rod, but a Chrysler seemed to be a bit different than all the "other" '32's running around. I'm still leaning to the original wire wheels and tires ... those 17's look nice big. Color wise, it in the air .. I do want to tape off the body moldings for a two tone, but what those two colors will be ... Suggestions here will be appreciated also. Any and all suggestions are welcome .. this is still in the thought process!!

I like this save ... the color scheme does it!

That is very good looking, The metal textured are believable. Ever noticed the curly plastic that comes off a draw of a panel scriber or backwards knife blade through plastic sheet? Seems it could make some nice metal scraps around this.

Thanks for that. They are some of the most realistic representations I've seen.

Beautiful job on that paint ... At first I thought it would be "in your face" and even liked that, but as the photos continued it got SO subtle! Very nice!

How many BUILT models do you own?
Foxer replied to Jeff Sauber's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Holey Cowtips, Ed! 200 pumps! Never knew you were that prolific with them! I have 13 built here from about 15 years ago and my estimate is about 25 from around 1960 that never survived my move to adulthood. Now that I'm back to being a child, there's about 20 on the workbench and 50 still in the box that, at my present rate, should be finished by my 3rd reincarnation! -
More than anything, I'm floored by the surface quality and texture of your metals!
-
That's a gorgeous little dragster ... and of course, a fantastic build! Can't believe it was hollowed out ... it must still have some heft to it.
-
Nice rat! I'm curious how you did the roof welds?

Colorado needs to look at this. That's a cool paint job. I'd guess the troopers would vote for it at least.

Our battalion commander was really anal about the uniqueness of out unit and "looks" was everything to him. Need I say cobblestone roads are nasty to sweep everyday. I'm pretty sure the red, and blue, yellow or white on other Batterys, was unique to our Battalion as I never saw any color like that in the other two Pershing Battalions. The absence of identification numbers was US Army from above dictated though.
