  1. As Dave says, it still takes time. It does work better than Purple Power for getting that lacquer coat off. After a day or so it comes off in chunks for me, but different model kits will vary in how this comes off.
  2. I'm not sure either ... lemmie smoke on it
  3. Yes, lacquer thinner will eat styrene. To remove that yellow clear coat under chrome try some Dawn Power Dissolver.
  4. I usually don't go for these dream lists, but what popped into my head from longtime interests is something from the '30s art deco era .. in 1/25. I'm talking the cars you see at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance get together. Something by one of the custon body builders of the time. There are a number of classic kits with chassis if just a body was done. This is a wide spectrum to choose from, but we're just talking concept here for something different that hasn't been done.
  5. I'm caught again! I was thrown off because this on has single headlights with the turn signals underneath. I thought, from photos I've seen, that the later ones had dual headlights stacked in the same area. But, my daughter just told me that her's was an '85. .. thanks for the heads up. I knew I asked these questions in the right place ... SO much knowledge resides here!
  6. Amazing, Peter! This is even BEYOND your typical sliding sunroof, and such! The design itself is stunning and would compete with those great art deco designers of the 30's themselves. The operating features are amazing. And, I really like how the tail lights were incorporated and how they will look!
  7. Wow ,,, that's really looking good in color! That's a great job with the tail lights.
  8. Good to see another returnee! Welcome to the forum!
  9. That is just TOO TALL to taunt! .. love it!
  10. Thank's for the hints , Darrin! While searching today I did come upon that 4x4 kit with the 8-lug wheels .. an MPC 1077 Dodge Pickup Truck Longbed 4x4. The wheels look pretty deep dish but should be no problem making them shallower, assuming I can find a kit. I'll have to check out that web site. Here's a shot of the passenger side. From your description it looks like a long wheelbase. Now I'm wondering if I'm going to have to stretch the chassis and body. Oh well, this wouldn't be any different that all the other "easy" projects I start!
  11. The photo is here. Sorry I'm no help with the kit .. haven't built that one.
  12. Welcome to the forum! I started modeling with my Dad about 1956 and haven't looked back since. (I CAN finally paint better than him, at least in the last year or two!) Have fun with your kids.
  13. That's what you call nice, crisp reflections!
  14. That ceiling looks really good! .. and gives a lot of atmosphere.
  15. I really like the look and flow of this. SO glad to see customs are NOT dead!
  16. Ah, that's cool! Maybe I'll have to get both the A-Team and Chevy to make things easy. Though I'm wondering if the inside window markings are still on the A-Team body. Having window frames would also be a help to speed it along, though. The bumpers would also help.
  17. I'm not sure I've seen a yellow WRC .. I like it. You must have a steady hand .. the detail painting looks great!
  18. I didn't know there was a regular kit of this. Do ypu know more the exact name of it? called a Window Van? edit: I found another topic here about these AMT Chevy vans. The original ones were the Fire/Rescue and was a couple others. I have seen these and the front grill and Tail lights are not the same as the A-Team van in which they were updated to '83 model and even changed to a GMC. Though the A-Team has the side windows filled, I have no problem creating them.
  19. On the drawing boards, but not nearly to Harry's standards! This was headed for a LaMans build here, but as usual for me, it never got too far.
  20. I'm starting to collect parts to build a GMC van that my daughter had in school. It's almost a junker as can see in the photo, but will be a fun build. It's an '83 and looks like an AMT A-Team Van will fit the bill nicely, assuming I can find one for a reasonable price! That's the first question ... if anyone has one taking up needed space, please contact me! There were 8-bolt wheels on her van so I need to find these somewhere. I have searched the resin casters I know of making truck wheels, but I'm not a truck modeler and have most likely missed some. Anyone knowing where I might obtain 8-lug wheels please let me know. I'm going to have to locate some heavier tires also, but those at Ma's Resin may fit the bill. The A-Team van has the correct front lights and grill so it looks like just bumpers will need to be made. I'm wondering if there's a GMC or Chevy pickup that may have the correct bumpers? The suspension and undersides I'm not going to worry about, so just some bodywork making the windows and little touches and this may be an easy build if I can locate the above parts!
  21. Would love to see a scan of that!
  22. The Stude I'd like to see is a '50 bullet nose. That one might even appeal to non-studie crazies like above!
  23. I wasn't laughing .. I wanted to see it chopped 5" and sectioned seven! The cab looks awesome!
  24. has not set their status
