The lights on these cars always cracks me up ... but that's just function before form. This is a fantastic build.. the attention to detail is spectacular! The weathering is so subtle that it looks right!

Spot painting repair of a finished coat
Foxer replied to Foxer's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
haha, I like that thought Charlie! Procrastination DOES have it's advantages! I'm going to go ahead and try a spot repair on the roof. I'm feeling I can blend it in pretty well without stripping the whole thing. What might cause a problem is the clear. I have sanded it at the interface but it could create a "line" that would show. There's nothing to lose doing it and it will be the Berkshire Purple Pond if it all shows. Thanks for the ideas about what might not hurt the bodywork .. I do have all that stuff here and may try. -
ok .. the 1:1 bench counts too ... holy cow ,,, I feel better now! (just noticed this is in the Under Glass section .. I lost my head! Any moderator can feel free to move this to ON THE WORKBENCH! )

92 Crown Victoria - 8-29-17 wheels, interior and antenna
Foxer replied to Foxer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It was a custom mix of something I lightened a bit... don't remember what it was I started with, but just added some white. Ended up being just a wild guess from memory so, good to see you think it's close! This paint is why it got sidelined, though. -
My Sig claims “perennial non-finisher†and I have been living up to it to the MAX! My last completed build was around 1993 and since getting back into “building†in 2008 coinciding with my retirement, I’ve completed exactly zero builds. J Yes.. I AM smiling … I love the building part of modeling more than finishing. If I finish one, I can’t work on it anymore! L I’ve come to the conclusion that the initial research and slice-and-dicing of the body is what makes me happiest down in the dungeon workshop so I have no qualms about just starting something new and the others can just wait. This is enjoyment of the hobby in it’s purest form! To give an idea of what I’m up against I made a list of what’s currently in the body shop: ’59 Chevy Impala – last work in 1992 … just needs BMF! ’51 Chevy Bel Air – moving towards a custom but last worked in early 90’s ’51 Chevy Fleetline – still considering to chop or not ’39 Chevy Sedan Delivery – was to be a survey truck for my company but stalled on need for white decals. ’95 Subaru Legacy Wagon – just needs a scratch built grill and waiting for my 4th try at it ’49 Mercury (AMT!) - EVERYONE has a custom Merc in the works, so I don’t feel bad about this one! 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe – This should be my next completion it’s VERY close to done … gonna schedule a 2015 completion date to get me moving! ’35 Chevy Modified – bodywork is done and all needed parts on hand … so WHY isn’t this done?? ’92 Crown Victoria – converted from a ’97 to the car my Dad had. Had a paint problem for a roadblock ’92 Porsche 944 S2 – conversion to one I owned but seems to have stalled when I sold the 1:1 for an Infinity G! ’67 Triumph TR4A – not much done, maybe because this 1/32 kit is only one around to model the 1:1 I had. ’56 VW Kombi – converted from a Hawswega ’63 and I blame my stall on VW Dave for pointing out the fine points of a ’56 that I need to change! ’57 Chevy (Revell Hot Rod) – oldie with all doors opened so figured I should junk and rust it up ’51 Plymouth L-head 6 Engine – I know, it’s JUST an engine! ’51 Plymouth - a cunversion from a '50 Plymouth resin body ’32 Fordchopped, channeled, sectioned and fendered hot rod Porsche GT-1 EVO - ’61 Valiant - junker restoration ’62 rail dragster – was intended for the Lion’s Drag Strip build.. last year.. ehhe ’56 Ford - junker restoration ’55 Renault 4 CV beach buggy Peterbuilt 359 – I’ve never build (worked on) a truck before, so this seemed like something different. Body has been channeled and frame in process of being Z’ed. That’s ALL I’m saying. Well, after looking at this list, I’ve decided the best course of action would be to start work on the great Tamaiya Beetle kit to make the ’69 Bug I had.. LoL

That's brilliant for an oil company, showing what their product does INSIDE an engine. I wonder how many 3-grit sanding sticks they used polishing it?
-
You defiantly got a good stance and the wood looks fantastic!

I rarely make any color suggestions as this is a very personal choice on the builder. I just like the look of the body cream with the green scallops ... and cream valve covers. Maybe it's just the way it look in the photos now. Either way, these two look good in any combination. I was going to ask about the wheels too .. so the '36 Ford .. cool. I like those.

Looks great! I love builds of different subjects ...

Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II Dealer's Collection
Foxer replied to Kushikimi's topic in Model Cars
That's a really good looking build .. and the job on the photos is equally superb! -
That really looks good, Curt. Nice touches really bring that '65 out. My Dad had a metallic green '65 Galaxy and all I remember is how it would tilt about 45 degrees on every corner.

That's coming along fantastic! I love that body. where did it come from?
-
That's a great build! The paint work really sets it off!

Those look amazing, Ed!

1970 Pontiac LeMans kit?
Foxer replied to gawrycht's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This caught my interest because I had a '67 Tempest that I plan to build from a '66 GTO. Mine will be a much easier conversion than doing a '70 Tempest it seems. That front chrome bumper does look like the bear, as George says. Just for interest, I had a kit of an AMT 1970 Pontiac GTO Super Stocker that was released by Model King not too long ago. I'm not a Pontiac expert, but got me wondering if that body might have any advantage over the '72 GTO. I traded it away so I don't know how much they modified the body making it a "super stocker". Just a thought that someone might be able to expand on. went looking so here's some boxes... -
Nice, Dave .. all the different ones. .. even the '50 Plymouth!
-
Looks very good . nice weathering job as it looks realistic and as Mother Nature spreads it around.
-
Nice work. Sure is an accurate kit.. but it's a Tamiya ...

Lyle, I know we've all been looking at your contest photo sets for years, but I just have to say this is an outstanding set of photos! The focus, depth of field, closeness, exposure and angles of view are right on! I am a little curious how you get the depth of field AND exposure with no flash .. any in-site for us?

There's a "zoom in" button above the photo to enlarge them.
