  1. Daytona meets LA I kind of like it. A lot of interesting touches there!
  2. Pills would be my preference also, but not when you need them. 3pm and in Wayne already. Now, if I can pull away from family for a "burger" later on ....
  3. That's unfortunate for the date same as NNL East .. most of Ohio will be there I think. Still, a long trip ..hope you get lots of entries and will be looking for the photos! Good luck with the show!
  4. I heard they're closing down Willowbrook Mall for the coming ... Friday night and Saturday! Glad to see you;re making it, Gregg.
  5. Nice cuts on the body .. body shop is going to love you!
  6. Coming along nicely. I really like that decal job on the altered.
  7. I agree with you, Jay. What's your secret to getting a centered hole in the rod? I get in about an eighth of a inch and it's starting to come out the side.
  8. I'd never take the NYC route. I am leaving from Western Mass, so maybe I have a slight advantage. But, my wife grew up in Wayne so I have been making this trip for 35 years. Best, IMO, is to just take the Mass Pike straight to the NY Thruway and go down from there. You can also take your route thru Hartford, (my hometown) and take 84 to the Thruway. I know it seems it should be faster taking the angle route thru NYC, but it never worked for me. There's just too many slowdowns and slower roads along the way. The thruway traffic has been moving at 80mph average lately, just like the Mass Pike. Either way, get on the Garden State Parkway and find your exit off there. I'm not giving directions there as I take all the local shortcuts and never even hit the Parkway. I have to say, though, Route 17 and 46 are the worst traffic roads in the world. All the malls and shopping centers are along these routes. 46 isn't that bad to drive and you'll have to hit that I think as it's close to everything. Just keep on highways as far as you possibly can. The Parkway pretty much follows 17 in this area. Hope to see ya there.
  9. What I LOVE most about MCM contest coverage is the intelligence behind the comments. Don't think I've ever seen .. "Jim says he build this because he loves hot rods (insert: Chevys, trucks, customs, Fords ..etc., etc., ets)"
  10. An eye catching beauty there. Looks well thought out.
  11. Another piece of art, John ...thru and thru
  12. Some very good weathering and detailing for sure! Is that orange arm a part of this kit?
  13. Some excellent advice here. Not much more to add as to what works for making the decals. One thing I can add just as a word of caution, the decals made with an inkjet are fairly transparent and odds are they won't be seen much when applied to a dark surface. They are best on a white or light paint.
  14. Sorry to hear that, Charlie. Thought I might run into you this weekend. All I can offer is I'll be leaving Pittsfield around 1pm Friday and have a single room in Wayne .. not at the Host Hotel, but at a Marriott Residence Inn in Wayne. It has plenty of room and a free couch at least .. not sure what their singles are like. This is my wife's hometown and we stay there all the time. I'm coming back Saturday night right after the show. Easy to leave a car in Pittsfield too and share some driving ... if ya can handle a stick!
  15. countdown .. one week! Sorry to hear about those that can't make it. I'll be taking lots of pics to put up for drooling.
  16. Nice build there ,, has a different flair.
  17. I really didn't want to hear Ed singing.. Prius could be my first rat rod .. maybe with a GE industrial electric motor and a flower garden in the bed.
  18. I TOLD ya this was going to happen ...
  19. VERY nice work on that! The metal looks perfect amd the style right on!
  20. I like it! Was always a Plymouth fan and I did like those when they were released. Was the era when we'd go looking in dealer's back lots for the new models before they hit the showrooms. You really did it justice!
  21. I've only tried the Archer weld decals and those I had no problem with the film showing. I trimmed very close to the welds and they got one coat of paint .. fairly thin as I didn't want to obscure the welds. In the following photo the welds go around the door as if it was welded up. These are the fine Archer welds. I would be concerned with getting them "locked down" to the surface. They didn't really stick perfectly, as Ryan mentions. I used some decal set VERY gingerly in spots. I wouldn't cover the whole decal at once with setting solution. Work in small areas as needed to get the film to lay down. They defiantly need at least one coat of paint to hold everything down and seal, but I'd expect any rivet application would need paint. Just don't use a lot of paint over them. Maybe even wait until some paint is down and apply before last coat.
  22. ok, I see nothing about the Lone Ranger here .... and, great looking build, Peter!
  23. For another option, Archer makes rivet decals. These are actually resin and have depth to them. I'm not sure how they would look compared to the original rivets, but these are a simple way to add good looking rivet detail. I've only used their weld decals and these are spectacular and as simple to apply as decals.
  24. Very clean looking build.
  25. I think the above comments have made me WANT to build one .. the potential is endless! I don't expect much detail of the running gear judging by other Japanese kits, which is too bad.
