  1. This is a neat idea. About the engine, a go kart engine might get it moving. I believe Replicas and Miniatures has one.
  2. I like it, epically retaining the VW engine mounted in front!
  3. These new decals by Archer look pretty good although scale could be a slight problem The 14" HO scale would scale to 4" in 1/25 but might be a tad close together. I've used their weld decals and was very pleased with the results. http://www.archertransfers.com/
  4. wow ..that paint looks really great on that old beast!
  5. Good looking weathering. Is that 1/35 scale?
  6. Fleetline's are one on my favorites. Of course, I have one sitting and waiting for more emotion and ideas. I'll be checking on this to see how it progresses and maybe get my juices flowing. I also always loved that front clip. one of the better designed custom pieces in kits.It looks like a great fit to the Chevy.
  7. That's looks like it will be a looker. I'd be glad to lend you the winter sand bags from my truck to keep that rear end down when you punch it..
  8. Ride the Wild Surf all day .. have a happy one, Gregg
  9. Some places still won't print to your decal paper.
  10. great job on that..! nice paint and details
  11. hehe I was just building a stock Double Dragster I expect, though I MUST have swapped a couple parts from the bins. and I'm sure I had that issue ...
  12. very nice looking detail there!
  13. It's interesting that you use Testers glue to attach the leather. It does make sense as you describe it. I used to carve leather back in hippy days and always used rubber cement for most attachments unless they needed stitching or riveting for strength. This would remain more flexible that dried model glue, but probably is not a critical factor anyway in a model. Seems it would stick to plastic fine, though the melted glue from the Testers must sure give a good bond. I'm also surprised you can get skins that are so thin. I always skived mine down when needed, but having them already done is pretty nice. Gonna have to do some hunting around. Nothing looks as good as real leather.
  14. I have to say Welcome ..and .. can you make a tool to lift my jaw off the floor? I'm very much enjoying your posts and seeing your fantastic work! Glad to have you here!

    VW BEETLE

Good looking bug ..much better than "Herbie". Have any shots from the rear?
  16. Back door opens! I followed this all the way and it came out fantastic looking. I love all the detail you put into it.
  17. I know exactly the look you're after..like just about every stock manifold I've ever seen. Sorry no photos here, but I'd start with the excellent texture ideas posted by the guys above and look into using Sophisticated Finishes Rust Antiquing Set. This is available at Michale's and other craft stores. It uses a paint that has metal in it and produces a very convincing surface rust.
  18. Somehow I missed the last few posts and surprised at the gloss black paint .. but, it REALLY brings out the beautiful body on this. Looking forward to the 'glass photos!
  19. Sitting bolt upright waiting patiently tense ... The edges of the door panels, like on the Duesenburg, amaze me with the finished look they have.
  20. Superb ! Are you planning to build a model of your great looking track car?
  21. I'd love to see some instructions too. Why do many PE pieces come with no hint whatsoever as to what is on the frets?
  22. Gorgeous build .. looks spectacular
  23. This would be very welcome, Dave, I think how you process the leather as bought, ie. how you skive it to a thinner skin, would also be helpful.
  24. Ah Yes! Bulbous Beauty!
