  1. Nice looking, Bernard. It fits your build target to a T! I'm trying to figure how you handled the steering linkage though a body hole with body on and off photos ... both look good. The metallic painting looks very realistic .. but those Mid-Coasters really like to scream in their body/frame paint to get noticed!
  2. heheh you guys are cruel! I would never own a Prius because suspension is everything to me, but I predict we're going to see many unique, one off builds from this plain canvas. And a hemi in one of these would probably cause more shaking in Junkman's Hemi than the double pumper!
  3. I knew I had heard of one before.. gonna try the alcohol.. thanks, Steve Edit: Had some 70% isopropyl alcohol (this is what rubbing alcohol is) and it worked instantly. The tail light was "painted" over 6 months ago, so age had no effect. It's back in the saddle for me..
  4. This is a good place to ask ..anyone know of a solvent that will remove Sharpie marker from clear plastic. Have a tail light I need to redo.
  5. Yeah, but I'll bet they NEVER lower the price of 3ds Max or Maya!
  6. Well. Wayne is like going home for me. I'm in Western Mass, but my wife grew up in Patterson, so we usually spend time with her brother that lives in Wayne. This year, however, we'll probably stay an hour south near Red Bank to see my new grandson! I'm a Connecticut Yankee but my whole family seems to be hooked to NJ. It's SO nice the NNL East has seen fit to hook up there too!
  7. This build is making me appreciate how much work Revell did on the new Samba! You're doing a fine job on all the details.
  8. Looking good. These kinds of builds of a vehicle with memories are the best.
  9. ah yes! .. a REAL Mini!
  10. This is probably the best water's edge I've ever seen! Even the wet sand where the wave has recessed.. FANTASTIC work!
  11. I would have never remembered my first kit, but have been reading Thomas Graham's book on Revell. So, the Merchant's gift set was it... issued in 1956 with a tugboat, tanker and freighter. I was 10 and it was a Christmas present. My Dad build the tanker as I did the other two. His paint was beautiful and I tried my hardest to match it. Not that close, but I was proud of mine none the less. I was hooked and there was no turning back ... especially when AMT issued their first custom kits 2 years later and was NO more planes or ships for me!
  12. VERY strange ..it takes me to MY photobucket page ...! this is the Perfect Storm, Charlie!! better get outta New Bedford fast! I snuck around the outside and got this like to Charlie's MassCar 2010 Photos ...couldn't wait and thanks for the pics!
  13. I really like the look ..very clean. What paint did you use for the gold side panels? I've been looking for a similar shade for a project I'm doing.
  14. Very good job getting the realism into it!
  15. Thanks for the link, Rick.
  16. Those DO look really good!
  17. That's easy for you to say, Bob, but Art Center rejected the stick figure on my application. Blending colors as you mention is not that simple a task for most of us. I understand what you're saying, but the execution is where I think I'd fall down. I'd love to see a few images of how it looks.
  18. Stunning build.. that paint is to die for!
  19. Sounds.. and looks .. like a good event, What impresses me most, other than the great looking builds, was the age of everyone there! Quite a young group compared to all the baggy pants old fogies (ya me included) at events here in the upper 50. Good to see the hobby in young hands!
  20. Not much overhead on that other guy in the photo ...
  21. You don't have to post photos of your builds, but this is one place you don't have to worry about it. I've been building since the late 50's.. with much time off in between and still can't lay a great paint job down.. and many other things. I have learned something new with every build and recently, it's all due to the help and encouragement here when I post a mistake or screw up. It has made me totally unafraid to post anything I've done. The best builders here are the most gracious and helpful!
  22. Great job on that. Looks like a factory ride. I really like what you did with the paint ..would have gotten oohs and ahhhs back in '41.
  23. I have always covered chrome headlight lens with thinned Elmers White Glue. It tones down the chrome and is a simple thing to improve the look.
  24. Unfortunately, I had to miss it this year, but would like to see some coverage. ))
