  1. That is a stand-out car and you are doing it justice!

    My 2015

    All are very good looking!
  3. Very cool! I can barely remember the Mass Staties in those colors as I just got my CT license in '65.
  4. I'm diabetic and use at least 5 needles a day, so it's not a problem for me. Mine are 29 gauge which is too small for most "glue injections" I've tried. Those 25 gauge monsters I used 40 years ago would be perfect. Blunt syringes I never heard mentioned before ... but, this is a perfect solution for the hobby use we would need. I searched Amazon and they are available. Most were 15 or 18 Ga but would work. They are expensive, especially considering they are almost uncleanable unless you are using a slow cure glue and can flush out with solvent.
  5. That's coming along really nice! I love these kinds of builds .. cars owned by you or one you know. It is sometimes hard to get what seems like a kit made for you into an accurate build of a specific vehicle!
  6. Really? .. does the vinegar slow everything to turtle speed?
  7. WOOT! Thanks, Dave .. works fine now.
  8. This is a great looking Mini! So manymuch subtle things, from finish to just your choices ... so believable. One question, thou. The white on the roof sides ... can't be snow (which first came to mind) I think ... a white undercoat showing through?
  9. A cool looking trailer. and completed builds should never be counted, just enjoyed without pressure.
  10. It's a 1/24 Motormax diecast and it's a 1983. I see them on ebay fairly often.
  11. I just have to say it was Ace that put me on to the fiberglass cloth ... I haven't had to go back to repair any splice yet ..
  12. That came out totally awesome! It couldn't be more unique! The treasure map decals look good ... and those gold seat buttons ... wow!
  13. Quite the finish for me, but pressure overcame my geologic building style! The 2015 Cannonball Build and one for my daughter for Christmas created the pressure. First, a glue bomb Ferrari 250 GTO for the Cannonball .. And my daughter's first car, a 1981 Plymouth Reliant K-car
  14. I use Devcon 2-ton Epoxy that comes in 4.5 ounce bottles. It's very easy to pour equal quantities for mixing and it keeps clean and last seemingly forever. It is a 30 minute clear epoxy and is very strong. When chopping a top, or any body splice, you should always use a backup piece on the cut when gluing. I have used plastic and brass strips in the past, but now I use fine fiberglass cloth embedded in the epoxy. This gives a thin, smooth and strong joint.
  15. VERY cool .... great job on that!
  16. That is Brizio's build and the On the Workbench build for more photos is here at MCM.
  17. eheh .. yes .. I made it for this XMass. She knows I went back on it so maybe won't be a big surprise. She hasn't seen it since it was painted, though, so will be good. One thing I forgot to mention. I'm giving her some thin Sharpies so she and her friends can write all over it as the real one was. This made the die cast the perfect solution as it's pretty rugged to take all the handling it'll get. It also kept the build easier as I didn't want things breaking off.
  18. That's a good looking truck and cool you found the resin to make it a good GMC. Those dog dish caps look very familiar to me. I built a GMC Van my daughter had, which was a 1985. The hub caps were the same as you show and I made them simply with a plastic dish with a decal. There are photos of what I did on this page .. also here and the final version on this page
  19. This is my daughter's first car, a gift from my Aunt when it was 12 years old. This is a period not too long in her ownership as when It was retired, it was completely covered inside with writing by her friends. I estimate it took the mechanics where she sold it 3 days to read everything! This is a Motormax diecast and is an '83, but it was close enough as the only thing even close. The grill is the biggest difference. The paint is Light Seaspray Green Metallic. I did a lot of detail painting and decals from photos of the real car. I sanded off the passenger door trim and drilled the mounting holes. There is a WIP here if you'd like more information. This is one of the few photos I have of the original .. with my daughter perched on top.
  20. well, you mean you can edit posts older than two days? Actually, maybe two days means nothing ... I can't edit my answer to your from one hour ago. Guess it's not a time thing.
  21. I was able to edit this thread when I started it two days ago but now the EDIT option has disappeared like all the posts I'[ve been talking about. It seems to be ok within two days of a post. I did PM Dave Ambrose about this. So this post I can edit .. all others in this thread I can't.
  22. I have no idea ... it all seems to be in my head
  23. I've found I like using glue bombs for some projects that get into. I just finished a Ferrari 250 GTO for the Cannonball build that just finished. I had a GTO glue bomb that came with a bunch of Porsche's used on another project. I always loved the '60s Valiants and got a glue bomb for cheap cause I couldn't find a Kit. Glue bomb are especially nice for builds that don't require everything to be restored perfectly, like customs.
  24. Wanting to see if I can edit this post because I can't edit any of my old posts. I CAN edit.
  25. The one's I was having trouble editing were all in On the Workbench. These are all in Cars, not the Trucks section. I just checked again and still can't edit in On the Workbench. Same in Under Glass, Cars. I have a thread in Model Trucks On the Workbench: PIckups .. etc. and can't edit that one either.
