That is beyond "glow in the dark" ... very cool!

Fantastic looking builds and a wonderful cross-section of subjects!

The wood dash went to the cutting board today. I printed a photo of the scanned wood with instruments to photo paper and used my wife's Silhouette Cameo cutter to cut the outline out. It took a couple days of figuring out how it works and the best way. I used the Print and Cut method ... printed and cut from the Silhouette. I may do another cut as this one has a slight registration problem and the cut lines should be raised a micro millimeter. I will add PE rings around the instruments and add the hardware for the glove box. The tailpipe and mufflers on the chassis were ground out with my old Dremel after the Stylus failed to keep running! The hole was filled with melted styrene.

ehehe ... unless you live only 5 min from the hobby shop, Tom, It took me less time to make than for you to go buy one. ... mine's about 20 also. Besides, I never saw that Shabo stand until this thread.

That Shabo stand is pretty much identical the my favorite I made from a coat hanger and piece of wood.

Changes at Model Cars Magazine
Foxer replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It sure sounds like a good New Year on the Islands ... great to hear your back is doing well! -
That's cool ... I never thought of using it for side trim. I guess it would have been nice if it stuck to the foil, but Bondic doesn't stick well to smooth surfaces. I have sanded any plastic I wanted it to stick to.

Always something different ... and good!

3D printing growing as we speak
Foxer replied to bbowser's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here's a general article on 3D Printing about where we are at the end of this year. It's a pretty good read on where we are and where we are going. http://warontherocks.com/2015/12/3-d-printing-will-disrupt-the-world-in-ways-we-can-barely-imagine/ -

41 Chevy pickup
Foxer replied to H's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I love this truck just because of the waterfall grill. You have a good start with the weathering and am looking forward to more on this. -
I too like them and used them all on my '62 (when built) hot rods.

I finished (!) two builds at the end of 2015 and have been considering which build gets back on the bench for 2016 .... this one wins! I think I'm going to detail the resin engine that came with the Air-Trax TR4 resin kit for display next to the car. It is just a block/head casting and a engine pan/transmission bottom as can be seen in the following photo. I'll most likely have to make the SU Carbs and manifolds. I made a mold of the trans half so I can make a casting to glue on top. These photos were to check the stance after making a new brass tube axle and some filing to get wheels up and centered. I basically have it now. There's still some adjustment when they get glued in place.

3D printed spark plugs
Foxer replied to my66s55's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here's the problem ... I can make my 3D CAD model of an amoeba look very well detailed with just a simple render. This post seems to be about a 3D printed object ... and we all ARE interested in how well your printer did with these spark plugs. An object this small requires a well focused camera, large depth of field and the ability to focus close. You should have been able to detect that your photos really tell us nothing about the quality of your printed spark plugs. Check your camera manual for close focusing as many have an adjustment. If your camera isn't capable of close focusing see if a friend has one that could do it. I know many here are interested in seeing how well these look and I would really like to see your results, so please try for some photos that reflect what you wanted to show us. -
75 Gremlin AWD Snow Plow

That is cool .. and what's more, it looks like it could do the job. Stop by North Mountain Road when it snows! -
'81 Plymouth Reliant ... My daughter's First Car 8/31/17 Fotki move
Foxer replied to Foxer's topic in Diecast Corner
Thanks, Jeff ... she did really like it. She even refused to let anyone write all over it as I had planned so it looked like the real one. -
I does need cleanup and checking as Ace says, but I really like the basic shape and curves is has. Worth further work for sure.

What kits did you get for Christmas?
Foxer replied to 95neon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didn't get myself any ... honest. -
I really want to get one of these, but this is very discouraging and I'm holding off until they fix their packaging problem. If they don't address this, I don't buy.

Dinky Corporal Launcher - The Ultimate Christmas Present!
Foxer replied to Faust's topic in Diecast Corner
I would probably just check that the launcher bolts were torqued correctly and the pad ring was removed .. my toy ... on Fine Scale Magazine forum as it's "other" here. Cool having one of the Corporal ... was the closest thing to the Pershing. -
Got to 67 in the Berkshire Mountains of western MA today!

Welcome to the forum, Rob. I see you're making that Plymouth answer for it's waves.

I don't know ... in New England, it's just not right for the sleigh to be stuck in mud.
