  1. That's a good idea, but the joints would still need finishing with square cut tubes all meeting. It would making holding for solder or even putty easier.
  2. sorry John .. this post was on next page when I posted .. looks like we both got straightened out. 2016 build should be starting sometime in January
  3. Go to the first page and read the first post. There is a Cannonball Community Build here every year and they usually have a theme.
  4. This is about what she's known for .. Jungle Pam video
  5. That sounds like it would work. I sent for the metal decals Theo gave a link to and I am really pleased with them! There are many pieces I'll use.. rings and keyholes galore.
  6. That's a good looking Citroen! .. must be what thru me ...
  7. and you do great work! It's just that many think this is something you can learn overnight and it's not so. I'm sure it's taken you time to learn to make the wheels and things you do, Frank.
  8. I would build it if I had an idea to make it unique. Plastic is plastic ...
  9. the six is probably gone as well.
  10. welcome and will be looking forward to what you come up with. and, that was funny, Dann.
  11. That's a lot of work you're talking about. Even with a good 3D file it will take some time to make it suitable for a 3D printer ... adding the inside surfaces, for instant. Even more work if you start with 2D files. I'm not trying to discourage, it would be great if something like this was available. I've done a lot of work in 3D Studio Max, but consider myself an amateur at best. I've tried making a 3D mesh from 2D views and never got to far. I just didn't have that kind of time. I have hundreds of 3D meshes of cars as that's what got me interested in 3D. The trouble is, most of these are proprietary and couldn't be used on a site like is proposed. I see the future in places like Shapeways.com that sell 3D files you can download and print.
  12. Yes it apparently is. I got it as a glue bomb with some others I needed and it was just perfect for the Cannonball this year.
  13. hahaha .. I noticed how that rim is sticking out after the pics were taken. I knew those Muscle Car wheels would be trouble ... they can't spell CORNER.
  14. I think this is a great idea too. I'll be checking brass tubes to make a punch ... or maybe I already have one.
  15. It's sitting right in front of me at the bench. I just finished a Ferrari build so maybe a quick end for this one. )) Diecasts DO fill a big gap!
  16. Ferrari 250 GTO for the 2015 Cannonball Run Sleeper build. I have a WIP Thread with more building details here. Ricardo has finally completed his Ferrari 250 GTO after a few all nighters fixing what he had fixed ... something we can all relate to. The car was flown into Boston overnight and registered for MA this morning. It's down I95 to NYC today for the start! This started appropriately as a glue bomb already sleeping. A story in the main thread told of the rebuilding. Thinks added to replace or upgrade kit parts include an interior welded fuel tank, rear wheels, brass front hood hinge, new intake funnels from ferrules, spark plug and fuel wiring, cooler, Garmin Nav system, iPhone, water bottle, hood strap, rear lights, front signal lights and polished aluminum exhaust tips. Paint is Automotive Red Primer. Many things were distressed using various methods. The replaced bar aluminum driver's door has 4 various paints applied. Windows have BMF "duct tape" applied over cracks.
  17. This has been completed! See Under Glass for the final photos.

Photoshop decided to give me problems after getting all the finished photos, so will try again after some appointments and post in the completed thread.
  20. Very nice! and, without any SU carburetors to boot ... what more could you ask for?
  21. Welcome to the forum, Matt, from the other end off MA. There are a ton of modelers around you ... look into MassCar near Taunton and Classic Plastic a little further north. Many members are members here so they will probably be checking in here. And ... very nice looking builds there!
  22. Just glued PE wipers on and it's DONE! ... once the glue dries
  23. Welcome back to building ... very nice detail painting!
  24. Things are heating up ... some great work going on madly in all these shops to make the deadline! I have just some PE wipers to mount ... only ones I had that fit the GTO. The body is mounted, but no pics until it's ALL done.
  25. The toughest part of building is being able to see and criticize your own work. That roof would look sleeker if about 3 or 4" was sectioned out of the body .. just above the front wheel wells. ))
