  1. After alot of family issues this year, I had to give up on modeling for awhile, My mother had a stroke, My father is being checked for cancer. And having the person I was with walk outta my life . I just gave up for awhile. It took alot outta me. Moms still recovering and dads in bad shape. But I'm slowly getting back into building again.
  2. One of the 76 Gremlins, Nice kit inside, A Bottle of Scale Coat Paint Stripper, And on Friday a 2008 Metallic Black Saturn Aura XE, REAL CAR!
  3. The dart steering wheel can be found in the last issue of the AMT 75 Duster, Which in fact is a 76 Dart Sport. I have that same yellow 76 and A Blue one, And Burgandy 75. I thought about doing the same thing, But when I was removing the screws from the blue 76 I started to here a cracking noise, So I Quickly tightined it back. Very nice job on both of them , And those Missing Link wheel covers look great on those Darts, I get annoyed with everything having the ralleys on them. This is how most of those were seen back then . Now if Missing Link would make the 72-76 Duster wheel covers for my 10 kits I have , Hint Hint Kevin!
  4. Great Restore, These are fun to rebuild aren't they? I loved doing the 3 74 Cutlass promos that were basically in the same shape as this was, Very nice save, And that color suits the car very well!
  5. Wholy , Fill in the blank, I have to get one of each of the 55's , This car is beautiful, Even in stock car form. It seems like they have the same spot on body details as the old jo-han kits, But better. Why in the world didn't this come out years ago? I see alot of potential for conversions with this one, Imperials, DeSotos , Windsors, New Yorkers, Basically all based on this body with trim changes and other minor details, Excellent build , And they need to get this sucker out like yesterday!
  6. Here is what I got . I couldn't pass it up, $60 And it's a year old. My buddy sold it to me. Here is my other one .
  7. Yes it is, All they need is the paint code, And they place the order while you're there, The can is 12 oz, And cost $26 out the door, But you have enough paint to use on atleast 4-6 cars. So it's worth the price, If you think about it, MCW Paint is $8-10 plus shipping for the little jars , Plus you have to have an airbrush to use it, I'm lazy, If I can use a spray can, Thats what I like to use, Plus with this paint I used, I had alot more control of the paint, No spits, Or big gobs of metallic coming out through an air brush, I wasted an entire bottle of MCW Paint on a 70 Nova conversion because of that. I got lucky with the other 2 Cutlass' , It hit and miss with me and an airbrush. This perticular color on this car also looks like the 71-74 Mopar "True Blue" to me.
  8. It would have looked better fully detailed, But I went for the promo look on all three of these 74's, If I can find a couple more 74's, I'll make full detailed cars out of them, I also have a 73 to redo,But thats going to have to wait untill next month, Also I plan on getting a few of those IMC 75'S Myself.
  9. I Alway use the Duplicolor primers, The paint is Dupont Enamel. I never use any of the cheap stuff, $6 Is worth it to get a nice paint job,And not ruin your model with cheap paint.
  10. Last two photos .
  11. This is the last 74 I have to restore for now, The paint was custom mixed for me at my local auto parts store, I had alot of work into getting this car back into original shape, Both of the A pillers were cracked, And the paint was awfull, So I stripped it, Repaired the busted pillers, Puttied ,And sanded them back untill it looked factory, Then primed and wet sanded the entire car , I used Automotive Enamel shot right out of the can, 3 mist coats, And one medium coat, After 10 minutes I sprayed on the Testors One Coat Lacquer, Yes over enamel, I misted it on, let the first 2 coats almost set up, Then one medium coat to finish it off, If I would have put the clear on heavy I would have ended up with a big mess, I got the paint from O'Rielly's , I gave them the paint code, And 2 days later I had my paint. That paint is worth the money, As I think this one turned out the best, Enjoy.
  12. Take the 75 Dart Sport, And the 70 LA Dart kit , cut both front clips off, Just before the doorlines, Fill in the funnycar wheel wells on the 70 body, and grab the stock trunk from missing link resins, That will give you a great start on the 73 body, Then find the closest grill to the 73-74 Dart style, And modify it, The taillights are different in the 73 bumper also, The 72 and 73 had split taillights set inside the bumper, The scamp used the 70 Dart Swinger bumper from 71-73, I have a 73 Scamp in the works, But I still have alot of work to do on it. That's how I made mine, But I used a 73 Duster clip in place ,Here is a link to the photos http://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj132/spkgibson/scamp/
  13. Any news on the release date yet?
  14. Yeah The wife loves my hair, Hers is to her waist, I got lucky so far pushing 40 and still have all my hair,The last time I had short hair was when I was 13, This hair has got me in alot of trouble, Funny if you look like a rockstar you have women falling all over you, My wife always teases me about it, Every place we go I get comments , Some good, Some bad.
  15. I'm having the same problems with both of my 71- and 72 Hoods I just got from The Modelhaus, They keep bowing also, I used the hot water trick to fix the bow, But it keeps comming back, I haven't even primed the hoods yet either, I have heard to freeze the resin after you fix the warp. I may have to. I love the color on this 64, It fits it very well.
  16. Here is me with my "Frost Blue Gibson Firebird, The hair is alot longer know, This ones from 2010.
  17. I own 3 Gibson Firebirds, Played through a Marshall X-100 Half Stack. I have played in various bands over the last 23 years. I started at the age of 13, And was playing anything I heard on the radio, I'm self tought, I have an ear for music, I can hear a song a few times, And pick up mu guitar and play along with it, Heres a hard one for you, Learn "Run To The Hills" from Maiden. That song bores me. I can play that entire album note for note.
  18. Make sure you use the 77 Monte Carlo roof for the back portion , That is correct for the 73-77 Supreme , Also, Has anyone figured out how to FIX the front bumper and header panel on the 75? That looks more like the 74, The 75 had a completely different header panel, Bumper, And the grills were taller, I want to get that Bandit Resins 76-77 Stock Car body ,And make a factory stock 76-77 out of it when that IMC kit comes out, I think the only changes from what I have seen is fixing the wheel wells back to stock, The taillights, interior,And chassis from the 75 will work in the Bandit body, Also the headlights look alot like the ones in the 77-78 Trans Am , The grills would also have to be converted, Thats not alot of work, I wish these guys would offer some of those Nascar bodys from the 70's also factory stock, I would pay the money for one .
  19. Those ,In my oppinion were the best looking Chevelles and El Caminos from the 70's, The 71 and 72 come in second , Personally If I would have been old enough way back when these were made, I would have bought a 73 or 74 .
  20. I had to buy X-Mas gifts for my son, And wife. I give comments alot, Never Negitive ones, I feel this way, Everyone has their own building styles and such, But there is alot of overly done new kits one here right now, All of the new kits, Like the Hudson, Novas, I still haven't bought myself a Hudson yet, But when I get one I sure will research the heck out of it before anything gets glued, As I did with this ,And all of my other builds, I didn't mind getting rid of this one, I have another 70 to build the same way, But I had to get the Family gifts, The person offered to buy it, And it was gone. So no regrets on my end. My family gets a decent X-Mas this year.
  21. You ever notice how alot of builds are buried within 2 or 3 days? I don't understand it, I can't even find that Chevelle you were building, And EVERYTHING I build sinks like a stone, It makes you feel like a poor modeler. Thats what I mean, Yeah this was built in 3 days, But 12 replies on something like this, Or anything else I build , But if you post a rust bucket , Everybody goes nuts over the stuff, I geuss I'm just getting tired of this place. You think about the money involved in this build alone, $35 for the kit, $25 for the paint, And the 24 hours of my time, I spent 8 hours a day on the ###### thing.
  22. Wow this build, Along with everything else I built sank like stone, Are my builds junk? If so it's funny, I recently sold this for $200 locally. Hardest $200 I ever made.
  23. This is what the Red one started out as, Notice the busted A-Piller, And the terrible paint , This is the good side of the car.
  24. I sort of stole these cars, I won the Red one for $25 shipped, And the other one was a buy it now for $34.00 , The paint was free, That I had in my stash for years, There was another one on the BAY, from the same person for the same proce with the box, It was Cream , Thats what the red one started out as,A Cream one, But,I hated the color,And the a pillers were cracked, And the paint was all scratched up, I stripped that one, Superglued the piller, Puttied it, Sanded and primed it, Then shot the color, 3 coats , And 2 heavy Coats of clear, Right after the final coat of red, so the paint,And clear gassed out at the same time, I did the same thing with the Cinnamon one, I just fixed the bad spots,The same way as the red one, Primed those areas the same way,And shot the paint over it the same as the red one, I used 20 year old duplicolor touch up paint, Decanted ,And shot through my air brush, The clear was done with the can, I use the One Coat Testors on everything now, That stuff is priceless, And the results speak for themselves.
